I feel the need to review this simply for the sake of updating some very outdated takes on this title. As of March 2026, Wild West Legacy, formerly known as Wild West Dynasty, is not abandonware. I'm as shocked as many of you may be. The devs have actually patched some things and even released the game on consoles. The game itself is decent. Like a 6.8/10 or so. It's not groundbreaking by any means, but if you compare it to crap like Outlaws of the Wild West, which is an incredibly similar game, it becomes evident you could do worse in the very niche genre of wild west survival craft — so niche, in fact, I'm just about convinced Wild West Legacy is the best title therein. What I like are the overall graphics and optimization, both of which are surprisingly adequate, as well as the exploration of the relatively vast map. What I don't like is that the survival aspect of this game is way too easy to keep up with. I'm talking "eat some food, drink some water, and forget about it for an hour." Even health potions are way too easy to craft. I actually think I'd prefer a non-HP system with automatic recovery, since it'd keep things a little more interesting. Then again, I haven't really encountered anything dangerous in my 3 hours of playing. Again, it's an easy game, and really lends itself more to relaxed exploration of a decently implemented western frontier than anything else. If you can get it for under $10 (ideally closer to $5, frankly), this is worth purchasing. List price is way too steep for what it is, though. But to act like Wild West Legacy killed your whole family, like many of these reviewers do? That's just silly. It's really not that bad. (Seriously, how the f*ck does Outlaws of the Wild West have like twice as high a rating when it's ten times worse?!?!?!?)
Wild West Legacy offers a genuinely immersive atmosphere. The world is beautiful, the lighting and landscapes are often stunning, and the music does a fantastic job of pulling you into that frontier feeling. Combined with solid gameplay foundations, this game has tremendous potential. That said, it’s clearly still a work in progress. The biggest issue right now is that parts of the story feel unfinished — especially the cliffhanger with the Sheriff, and no appearance of Ada. It feels like something important is missing there, and I’m really hoping those narrative threads get properly expanded and concluded. Additionally, for us, completionists, a recent patch has broken 2 achievements: “Home Sweet Home” and “Water is Life” - which are currently unobtainable. There are also some noticeable gaps and rough edges: -The compost recipe cannot be learned in any way, so you are stuck with rot. -Some NPCs seem bugged after updates (for example, not being able to buy drinks at Hope’s saloon). -A lot of items and buildings feel like should be there, but aren't In terms of content, the game would benefit a lot from expansion: More animals (even reused ones from Medieval Dynasty) would make the world feel more alive. Enemy types (bandits) would be great Native American (Indian) presence could add both realism and depth to the setting. Being able to build saloons/bars at level 5 or so, as well as two story buildings (like Granma's place) would further improve immersion. Honestly, there’s a lot that could be carried over or adapted from Medieval Dynasty or Sengoku Dynasty - systems that are already proven and would strengthen this game significantly. All in all, I’m leaving a positive review because the foundation is strong. The atmosphere, visuals, and core gameplay loop are already enjoyable, and with continued development, this could turn into something truly special. If the developers keep building on what’s here and address the current bugs and missing content, this game has all the ingredients to become a commercial success.
This is more of a neutral review if that was possible on steam, they have fixed a lot of bugs and brought it to a playable level, BUT the game still needs a lot of QoL improvments like even just the ability to quick transfer a whole stack of items into storage, you can't seem to atm. its just overall polish that the game is lacking really, One such example is that they added a skill you can unlock to be able to call you horse to you, thats a common feature in games lots do it great.. the issue is when you do it the horse just teleports directly infront of your character instantly which is massively immersion breaking, all they needed to do was have it teleport just out of sight and then move towards the player and add even a whistle sound effect when the button is pressed and it would be so much better an experience. Thats an example of the little bits of polish the game is missing which add up to make all of the difference. It isnt a bad game, but it isnt a good game either.
In its current state, the game is too buggy to play. I dont recommend playing it until its had a few more updates.
It's been languishing in an obvious unfinished state for a while now, buggy and unpolished, and now to add insult to injury they're changing the name? People suspect Toplitz are pulling the license of the Dynasty series.
THEY HAVE FIXED MANY OF THE ISSUES IT IS NOW PLAYABLE CHECK IT OUT
really gave it a honest try, but it lacks so much to be a "dynasty" game, very clucky as well
Game had a rough start, but devs have stuck with it. The game is so much better now than the early days and devs keep updating and fixing bugs. 8/10 Recommend!
The game has changed a lot since it first came out. Was rough to play when it first came out which is why it got so many negative ratings. Now i started a new game after about a year and a half and the game is total different. Completely better and playable. Would recommend everyone giving it another go around. Glad the developers stuck with fixing the game and look forward to future updates and hopefully map extensions/new areas.
