I initally bought the game many years ago, closer to release I think. played it around half of it, but never finished it until now Despite many positive reviews by game journalists, I have a hard time recommending it. The game is a 2D platformer - survival zombie game, with gameplay consisting of mix of platform puzzles with a few combat encounters in each. You will mostly transition from room to room where you will have to usuelly climb a few platforms to enter the next one, and occationally there will be zombies in the way that you will either have to kill or avoid. Some segments of the game you focus more on a few simple but tedious platform puzzles, while other segments require you to quicly run through rooms before they collapse on you. The latter is where I encounted my biggest annoyance with the gameplay. The movement and combat in the game is extremely janky in my opinion and experiences a consistant imput delay. While trying to climb over a wall and hang on the opposite side, your character will quickly climb over the wall again back where you came from. This makes it very annoying and difficult to do quick movement during segments that require you to react fast. I can forgive the janky combat however since the game doesn't want you to feel like a powerhouse. You will eventually gain access to some firearms with limited ammo, but like other "survival horror" games you might not want to use them not knowing when the next item drop. This ended up with me never really using the guns much outside of puzzles because the gamer in me expected a situation where it would be needed only to find out that in those segments you are beeing supplied with almost unlimited ammo. The game is a short 4-6 hours, but I spent most of the time bored especially due to the gameplay. The story did not help either. It reeks of early 2010's stereotypes where you play as the mysterious jaded deep voiced loner (I don't remember his name) who is search of his family. Once in a while between levels, you enter some cool illustrated cutscenes. The cutscenes themselves are very visually pleasing but the can sometimes come out of nowhere and not really follow the action that just happened. The voice acting and writing comes off as a bit dated and cheesy, and every character felt like a generic stereotype. I can't recommend this game. It doesn't stand out in any interesting way, but props to the developers for trying something. I would have loved it more if the controls felt shaper and responsive, and if there was a little better execution in the timing of the cutscenes and voice acting (I can forgive a generic story).

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 9: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Dying Light but its 2D
I legit bought this game ten years ago on sale. I'm finally getting around to playing this game. This is not a bad game, per se, but it's definitely not worth 15 dollars. I would say this would be around 7.50, 10 at the most. The story is pretty predictable and kinda dumb, the gameplay isn't horrible or terrible, but it does kinda feel like you're going through the motions after a while. There were several bugs and some other stuff. The game is fairly short, but it adds a new mode after you beat it to encourage replayability, so it has that going for it. Just know that I don't hate this game, and it is somewhat enjoyable. Keep your expectations in check, and you might like the game. This would be more of a neutral recommendation bordering on negative. If you want to pick up the game, make sure to pick it up at a steep discount.
Deadlight to bardzo klimatyczna gra osadzona w świecie po apokalipsie zombie. Połączenie platformówki, eksploracji i walki o przetrwanie działa naprawdę dobrze, a mroczna oprawa świetnie pasuje do całej historii.
Few people wrote that the controls are clunky and I totally agree. I tried to enjoy this game but after 2 hours I've decided that it's not worth any space on my drive.
The movement controls in this game are so sensitive they need therapy! game breaking bugs that made me question my own existence, thought it was a good deal to grab it on sale for 2.99, but I won't even install it for free.
Controls are a worse nightmare than whatever happened to the world in this game. It starts off good, with atmospheric scenery and setting, though ruined by poor voice acting (that of the main character especially). However, it gets boring pretty quickly and the story starts going all over the place. I am not expecting a masterpiece for this price, but there are better games out there for the same amount of money.
First tried Deadlight in 2015 and gave up because of the poor controls. Last tried Deadlight in 2023 and gave up because of the poor controls. There's so much to love about this game, yet its most fundamental feature is so lacklustre. Deadlight instils such a genuine fear when you do everything right and the environment fails around you. However there is such a genuine frustration when inputs don't register or just feel clunky to execute. I tried using both a controller or a keyboard and mouse, they were both equally as frustrating. There is so much to love about Deadlight, especially its art style, but its controls show its age and let it down.
Deadlight is a 2D side-scrolling survival horror game developed by Tequila Works and published by Microsoft Studios. The game was released in 2012 and offers a unique take on the zombie apocalypse genre. The game follows the story of Randall Wayne, a man trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic Seattle overrun by zombies. The game's narrative is told through a combination of in-game cutscenes and journal entries, which add depth and emotion to the story. One of the standout features of Deadlight is its art style. The game's environments are beautifully rendered, with stunningly detailed backgrounds that create a sense of depth and immersion. The game's character models are also well-designed, with a distinct comic book style that adds to the game's atmosphere. The game's gameplay is a mix of platforming, puzzle-solving, and combat. Players must navigate through the game's levels, avoiding traps and solving puzzles to progress. The game's combat system is simple but effective, with a focus on timing and strategy rather than brute force. The game's sound design is also top-notch, with a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack that perfectly captures the game's atmosphere. The game's voice acting is also well-done, with convincing performances from the game's cast of characters. Overall, Deadlight is a must-play for fans of the survival horror genre. Its unique art style, engaging story, and satisfying gameplay make it a standout game that's well worth the investment. If you're looking for a game that offers a fresh take on the zombie apocalypse, Deadlight is definitely worth checking out.
