I've only played this in local co-op mode, and it's quite fun, if simple. You can get in each others way a bit when playing and there is chaos on the screen. Hooked up to a TV with a pair of controllers is the way to go with it. Had a quick play solo, and it was actually easier on my own, and not near as much fun. If you like couch co-op games I would recommend it. It's a game that needs the local co-op to make it interesting and fun.
Really repetitive game, but the minimal target score for progress totally ruined the game for me, that just a bad idea for making level harder and adding artificial livetime, and you have to start the level again and again without being hit too much time (1 max in general), and get a good score for unlocing next level, and that a no for me ... Final Note : 9 / 20.
Deadbeat Heroes is a fast-paced brawler that combines comic-book style with 3D movement and over-the-top superhero action. Set in a quirky, cartoonish version of London, it focuses on momentum, melee combat, and timing rather than traditional button-mashing. The result is a light but energetic action game built around rhythm and precision. Players take on the role of vigilantes who lack real superpowers but use a prototype jet glove that grants speed boosts, wall runs, and midair attacks. Each mission sends you into colorful levels filled with criminals to punch, kick, and combo into submission. The emphasis is on chaining attacks fluidly while dodging and countering enemy strikes. Combat rewards style over brute force. The scoring system grades performance based on speed, creativity, and avoidance of damage. The better you fight, the higher your rank, pushing players to play aggressively and master movement rather than rely on simple repetition. Visually, the game adopts a cel-shaded comic aesthetic with bold colors, exaggerated animations, and cheeky character designs. The art direction matches its irreverent tone, blending superhero parody with British humor. It looks and feels like a living comic strip. The soundtrack and sound effects reinforce the upbeat tempo. Jazzy, high-energy music drives the pace of battles, while announcer commentary adds a playful, arcade-like atmosphere. It keeps the tone light even when difficulty rises. Progression is straightforward. Unlocking new abilities and heroes adds variety, but the game’s challenge comes from mastering control and movement rather than accumulating upgrades. Each level demands precision and situational awareness to earn top ranks. Deadbeat Heroes thrives on style, humor, and flow. It’s not deep or narrative-driven, but its core mechanics are sharp, responsive, and rewarding for players who enjoy score-chasing and fast, kinetic combat. It stands as a compact, tongue-in-cheek homage to classic arcade brawlers with a modern twist.
Fingers crossed this $0.00 investment pays off
I just don't feel like an English superhero
Can you make beat 'em up work with one punch combos? - yes, you can!
Dobre.
While it's a cute little couch co op game, it does get a little repetitive despite it's short gameplay length, and also the addition of needing to reach letter rankings is a bit meh. Even if it never comes into play if you are decent at the game, it'll be in the back of your mind and you'll catch yourself making mistakes as you try to keep up combos, failing levels that you shouldn't honestly be failing at all. Also later in the game, there is a lot of stuff going on screen at the same time, this is less a lag issue and more of a "♥♥♥♥, where did I even go?" issue considering at any point, you can never be hit more than 3 times. There are health items as rewards for some rooms, but overall it's not something you can rely on and it's only one. Bosses are kind of piss easy, though they were a nice reprieve from the more stressful henchman levels. Also comboing felt pretty much out of my control at some point, though pressing triangle when not fully charged can mitigate this somewhat. I do wish it was somewhere else on the controller though, or the charged attack was, because sometimes I just wanted to keep the combo up and save my bar for a mini boss enemy that wasn't currently spawned yet, and also sometimes things get too hectic where you can't even keep track of if you're full on orbs yet, so you try to keep a combo up and just use your ultimate on a trash mob who's one hit from death already. Some powers were pretty mediocre compared to others, for example the super strength, the triangle of it felt worse than just regular attacking considering it had a load up, the aoe wasn't that large, and a lot of enemies were just gatling gunning you and not all just melees that ran up single file for you to hit them, and even if they were, just hitting them with regular attacks or other powers specials were more effective anyway. There was some charm to this game and I'm curious to look into what they've made since/or plan to make in the future, but the game felt pretty average. Punching down doors is fun.
Honestly can be a pretty fun and quick game, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is the movement and object physics annoying as hell. But it's a neat concept. I recommend it for anyone looking for a quick "Perfect" game on their profile.
