Reviews
This is one of those times I wish Steam allowed a neutral review. Guacamelee is a fantastic game that I don't think I'll play again. It's beginning and middle are wonderful and feel extremely well done. The late game is just a tedious mess. If I were 20 years younger and had more time to play games, I would probably enjoy it, but nowadays, I don't have the time to play through room after room of over-tuned challenges. Combine the platforming issues with typically having a quarter of a second _or less_ to see what killed you and I ended up throwing myself at problems and repeatedly dying just to see was was going on. Not actually making progress, just trying to see what was actually happening. I beat the game. I'm missing the Tula Tree's orb to get the good ending. I have no intentions of spending more time that I already have with the overtuned mess that is the Tree Tops. I actually regret buying the bundle because that also got me Guacamelee 2. If this is what I have to look forward to in the second game, I don't anticipate I'll ever waste my limited time with it. Edit: I want to clarify something about my review: the biggest issue with this game is that it's not a good style of game for me. This is a fighting game inside of a metroidvania, albeit a basic fighting game inside a basic metroidvania. The controls are tight. Some of the better controls I've played in a platformer. Your character is responsive. Moves don't have silly hard-coded delays. Mid-air movement feels good. The game is fantastic, it has a great theme, and it's enjoyable. But it's also tedious. A person who grew up playing fighting games or has played other fighting games and enjoyed them will very likely love Guacamelee. Unfortunately, I came in expecting a metroidvania, but was hampered in the end-game by the fighting game mechanics.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Guacamelee! Gold Edition Review I bought Guacamelee! fully expecting a game about punching avocados into fresh guacamole. I pictured intense avocado combat, competitive salsa-making, and maybe a final boss that was a giant tortilla chip. I was wrong. Instead, I got a magical luchador fighting skeletons, hopping between dimensions, and occasionally turning into a chicken. And that’s okay. Not once did I successfully make guacamole, but I did deliver enough flying uppercuts to qualify for a wrestling championship. The game is colorful, funny, and somehow makes “becoming a chicken” feel like a perfectly reasonable game mechanic. 0/10 for avocado preparation. 10/10 for everything else.
I like chicken
Recomiendo jugar la version mejorada, el Guacamelee super turbo championship edition
Finnaly 100% all the Guacamelee games (Super turbo, gold and the sequel). Drinkbox studios PLEASE MADE A THIRD GAME. I NEED THIS. I WANT TO BE AGAIN A CHICKEN AND TO DESTROY EVERYTHING
·7/10: Buen metroidvania, recomendado.
Глоток свежего воздуха среди метроидваний, рекомендую всем
I was thinking this was a metroidvania, but it has mixed in timed special move button combo fighting, which for a casual like me I'm not going to come back to and relearn all the moves each time I want to play for the 10 minutes I want to share with it.
A classic of the genre and a must-play for every Metroidvania fan. Great combat, a well-designed world, beautiful art style, funny dialogue, and an interesting story. On top of that, there are tons of secrets and easter eggs to find. Highly recommended. It’s best to play Super Turbo Championship Edition right away since it’s basically the same game as Gold Edition but with extra content.
