About

A dream among the stars — or a nightmare.
1,000 colonists. One ship. A destination that may be fifty years away — or centuries. Some will land. Some will be born, age, and die in the dark between stars without ever knowing if the mission succeeded.

Inspired by John Ayliff's Seedship, Dead Reckoning is a game about the slow, invisible erosion of civilization across generations. Every decision you make is defensible in the moment. The horror is retroactive.
Manage food, power, and hull integrity across centuries of deep space. Navigate crises, uprisings, and failures that compound silently into irreversible outcomes. The crew that arrives — if they arrive — may not remember where they came from, what they believed, or what it means to be human. A society of clones. A ship that has become a cathedral. An AI that no longer needs to ask permission.

Five forces reshape your colony across generations: genetic drift, ideological fracture, AI integration, technological regression, and class stratification. Every choice nudges the needle. None of them reset. The faction that rises in year 200 was built from decisions you made in year 40.

Settlement. Extinction. Digital transcendence. A ship that turns back. A crew that ascends without landing. Every run tells a different story. What reaches that planet is the sum of everything you did — and didn't do — across centuries in the dark.
You may not recognize it. You may not want to.

Fun game, similar to the game Seedship in concept, although much more detailed with more systems and an expanded gameplay loop. It's admittedly a little rough around the edges in its current state and can use some event expansion to make every run feel unique, but keep in mind when reading this review that this is week 1 of early access from a solo developer. I have been blown away by how involved in discussions and feedback the dev has been, how active with bug fixing he has been, and the transparency about where he hopes to take the game. For that fact alone, I would recommend giving this game a try. I will be watching intently and playing more as updates come out.
Perseverance: Year 170 Name chosen for Ocean World after Landfall: Tidesend
Game of dream
I've enjoyed playing the game. My suggestions for improvement are as follow (I have currently only played on the stable version and on the standard difficulty, I will also try out the other difficulties and the experimental branch): There needs to be more explanations for what the things you can actively do that aren't decisions actually do. For example, you can select and then with a second click confirm past decisions, and I have no idea what (if anything) that does. They are buttons that you can use but there is no tooltip, and no obvious effect. Several of the decisions you make also imply effects beyond those that seem to actually occur. For example, the choice to extend cryo hibernation to lessen mortality in exchange for greater wear on the cryo pods. It gives you a description when someone dies that the cryo pod is decommissioned, but you don't lose cryo/crew capacity. Most decision seem to only affect the drift and food, power, or hull stats. It would be nice to have some that actually did some non-stat things. There are very limited abilities to encourage the crew to breed, only the single-use emergency action, no decisions. As-is, I launched with increased genetic drift due to a limited gene pool, immediately activated the emergency order to breed, later took a single decision to counteract genetic drift, and landed after 80 years with only 20% genetic drift. I suppose if I had spent centuries looking for a perfect planet rather than settling the nearly perfect 75% jungle/high-O2 world I found, if the power would have held out that long, it might have become a problem. Speaking of power, the loadout decision to launch with a second reactor seems, as far as I can tell, do nothing. It should have halved my power issue by virtue of doubling my power, but as far as I could tell I had no additional reserves of power. The colonial phase needs more content, more things you can do beyond decisions, and needs to run for longer than 5 years because otherwise nothing really happens. Also, on the subject of things to do, the colony map is a pretty but completely useless picture that you can't interact with in any manner. There's plenty of POIs and dangers marked, but you can't do anything on the map and the marked points don't affect the colony in any way, they're just fluff. You have a couple decisions that make the colony build a couple buildings and that's the end of what you can actually materially do currently during the colonial phase, and as far as I can tell those buildings are nearly pure fluff as well with little to no real effect. --- All that said, I still like the game. I wish there was more you could actually do.
Хорошая и глубокая игра. Верю что со временем станет еще лучше. Минусы: -Русский перевод плох. ИИшка сделала бы лучше -Информации о корабле вроде бы много, но большая часть бесполезна (по крайней мере пока)
