About

Dead Engine is a survival action-roguelike where players explore a post-apocalyptic city overrun by intelligent zombie threats. Each choice to fight or flee impacts survival as zombies actively track, adapt, and work together to hunt their prey. Loot critical items and manage your expandable backpack every item could mean the difference between life and death.
Our post-apocalyptic world comes alive through hand-drawn pixel art, where every corner of the carefully crafted maps holds strategic potential. Plan your escape routes, set clever traps, and transform city ruins into deadly obstacles. Your survival depends on how well you use the terrain against the zombie hordes.
The camp is a living system that requires constant management. When morale, hygiene, shelter, and resources fall out of balance, order within the camp quickly collapses. Keep the fire burning, build shelters, clean up poop, and maintain survivor morale. Every decision you make directly shapes the future of your camp.
Some survivors will want to join your camp and improve your chances of survival, but you cannot know who will turn into a zombie as they may hide it from you. Be careful and check everyone at the gate. Others may not want to join but still seek to trade, so listen to their requests carefully. By selling them items they desperately need, you will not only earn more scrap but also uncover their haunting survival stories.
Zombies in Dead Engine think, adapt, and hunt as a collective threat. Our unique pathfinding system enables them to intelligently move through the city, adjusting their routes based on your position. When they spot others nearby, they merge into dangerous hunting hordes. Ranged zombies bring another layer of challenge - they'll keep their distance while attacking and launch acid bombs over structures if you try to hide.

Find backpacks and expand them to carry more items. Merge items to free up space and customize your backpack to match your playstyle while exploring the city and fighting zombies. A well-upgraded backpack can be the key to survival.

Scattered across the map, characters await for your paths to cross but only if you can follow their traces. Each encounter offers a new perspective and a different way to survive. Explore, connect, and remember: you're not alone in this dangerous world. And when you discover a character, you’ll unlock the ability to play as them. Every meeting takes you deeper into the city, and into yourself.

Dead Engine is trying to hard to be to many genres and fails at being a simple rougelike, game has absolutely no dialoge so "story" if a five second comic strip in the beginning is a story. why is there a camp mechanic? or an inspection/trade mechanic? good thing i have nothing to trade and i love when gameplay is mine rocks and chop trees for npcs that dont talk, love when a game has no idea about pacing or fun gameplay. i was ready for another flavor of 2d horde killer, but if its a taste its the taste of trash outback. upgrades cannot consist of multiple non-combat upgrades i love 2 percent crit chance or a backpack space as upgrades like so glad as i am getting swarmed and dying that really helps, all three of my "runs" i had two level ups that were usefull with +1 bounce on the cop was good but not getting damage or reload to stack with it for five or six levels, how do you expect gamers to play? let alone want to play.
way too unbalanced for the moment. melee is unplayable, and ranged enemies kill you almost instantly. progression is too slow and after 10+ runs ending within the 1st level, simply too hard. overall interesting ideas and mechanics, nice art-style and imho a good potential but so far just too unbalanced.
可以可以,玩起来挺爽的,可惜没有成就系统,希望能加上成就系统,玩起来正反馈更足一点
It's not bad, per se, but I really don't feel like it brings anything in particular. If: A. If you haven't ever played a game like Vampire Survivors: You should probably start with the original, or one of the more expansive, bigger budget clones. B. If you've played a bunch of Vampire Survivor-likes, I don't think this one is going to bring you anything fresh or exciting. In two hours I managed just over two runs, winning both times on the highest difficulty available, and I'm not particularly good at these. The game boasts an "item fusion system" but it's just a very linear upgrade system that doesn't really add anything in practice. You walk up to a chest, see it has a Level 2 Boot, and add it to your inventory if you have room. If you already have a Level 2 Boot specifically, you may stack them into a Level 3 Boot. But in another game, you would simply find the level 3 boot, equip it, and trash the level 2 boot for space. Or find a +1 Bootfulness potion to go from 2 to 3. I can imagine scenarios where item fusion might create interesting gameplay spaces (if you had, for example, a party in a strategy game, deciding whether to try to give everyone a gun or consolidate your guns into one designated Good Gun and let everyone else play support.) But as it is you're just wandering around opening chests and watching the numbers go up and the colors change.
2D像素风格的末世搜打撤,挺有创意!
非常好玩的丧尸割草游戏
Finished the demo and couldn't wait for release. Waited the first patch and just started to play but it looks fantastic so far. As someone who plays tons of vampire survivors-like games, this game is a nice breath of fresh air, and to my liking, game is not too easy. I will update my review once I finish the game.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Dead Engine is far better and more polished than I expected! The game delivers a post-apocalyptic zombie theme in a very strategic and dynamic way. The hand-crafted pixel art looks fantastic and does a great job setting the atmosphere, while the gameplay keeps you constantly engaged. What really stands out: The inventory and backpack management system is creative and very satisfying to use Zombies aren’t just mindless enemies; their behavior forces you to think and play strategically Camp management, trading events, and discovering survivors’ stories add real depth to the experience Every run feels different, which makes the game highly replayable. You can clearly see the care put into both the design and the balance. On top of that, the developers seem genuinely invested in improving the game and listening to community feedback, which is always a huge plus. Highly recommended. If you enjoy roguelike and survival games, Dead Engine is absolutely worth your time.
