Darkest Dungeon is a challenging gothic roguelike turn-based RPG about the psychological stresses of adventuring. Recruit, train, and lead a team of flawed heroes against unimaginable horrors, stress, disease, and the ever-encroaching dark. Can you keep your heroes together when all hope is lost?
Modeled estimate, not a reported figure. How we estimate →
Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 20.43/day in the week to Aug 19 → 64.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,419 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

The game is built around RNG (random number generator) which means that the game feels like its forcing you to lose, not because you play bad, but because you have to lose, even if you play well, BECAUSE the the game is about handling loss. (making the best of a bad situation, as the game says) What if you make the best decisions possible? Still lose. Can't have a game about handling loss, without loss. There is little to no skill invlolved in the game. You miss shots, not because you have low accuracy , you have trinkets that give you 20 extra, but because of RNG. You don't get to recruit a healer for 27 weeks, because RNG decides, that the same 4 characters have to be there. Healing, crits, disease, encounters, missions, rewards, wins, losses all are dictated by RNG. You can't make a mistake, cause your options and their outcomes are all dictated by RNG. Save yourself the money, time and frustration, just go to a casino and bet 20Euros on red, lose it all and walk out. You'll have a better time and wont waste as much of it.

Matched by title — a reused name can pair the wrong games. * is a critic aggregate. Prices and positions are each store's United States storefront; Epic charts worldwide. Audience and Score too, except Steam's, which is worldwide.

My 5th attempt at a Veteran dungeon, after my previous four attempts all ended with my entire party getting wiped out. I finally make it to the last corridor before the final room and get ambushed by the Collector. I somehow get through the fight and get the boss down to a mere 12 HP. Then he uses his life-draining attack, heals himself back up by 14 HP, and summons two more enemies. Those two proceed to kill the three heroes in my party who can actually hit the backline where the boss is. My last hero standing is the one guy who can't hit the backline. He tries to retreat. **Failed.** Gets hit by four attacks. Death's Door. Tries to retreat again. **Failed.** Gets hit by four more attacks. Still somehow alive at Death's Door. Tries to retreat one last time. **Failed.** Gets hit again. **Deathblow.** My 5th Veteran dungeon attempt. Another complete party wipe. 6.6/6.6 I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate this game.
Extremely underrated game
A time to perform beyond ones limits!
Qu'on arrête de dire que "les mauvais diront que c'est la faute de la RNG". On prend des crits, des pièges, on se fait wipe. On veut repartir mais l'équipe disponible est désequilibée. On retente. Groupe non viable : on se fait wipe. On recrute encore. Plus d'argent pour acheter les indispensables : torches, nourriture, antidote. Fini. Non merci, j'ai d'autres jeux plus intéressants auxquels jouer.
Legend of a game, great for software devepment profissionals to learn what risk means :D make your stupid PO/BA play it and never hear 'it will never happen' again at work, a must have at interviews for dumb developers that do no architecture and just code nonsense too (;
Overconfidence is slow and insidious killer.
Game is too grindy and made to frustrate the player. Set backs just make more hours of grinding. You are unlikely to finish this game; less than 5% do. The mechanics are gimmicked to create unnatural negative results for the player to extend the grinding. The grinding can be fun but eventually it's still just grinding. If your a casual player or really most players buy this on sale.
