I hate this game JK, I just perfected the game It's a classic I mean it doesn't even matter what I'm gonna say However, a very great game, won't recommend it for casual players though Edit: Actually, I think I made a mistake So lemme fix it by talking more about the game I'm not much of a story guy, when I load up a game I just play like if I wanted a story in the first place I would've read a book or watched a show But as I was playing the game trying to get all the emotes and doing random stuff to npcs along the way, it really hit me how sad actually is the story of the game Dark Souls is much more than a challenging game, It's beauty, the kind of bitter beauty that exists in our very own lives The countless times you have to challenge a boss...the very idea of hollowing when you die, and just leave the game, the game doesn't tell you what happens in the world next Your character simply loses purpose, it becomes a "hollow" Isn't that similar to life?, if you won't try, then your story won't progress, making you a kind off a hollow yourself My whole life I spent thinking and joking about ds games are the furthest thing from good story telling Only now I know, only now I see, DS's story wasn't meant to be read standardly, it was meant to be felt. And now I feel it myself Sure, it's not perfect, not at all, but the game was built with vision, and that vision is very true It was a very fun journey, thank you for reading till this point
J'ai acheté Dark Souls III pour me détendre. »
A life changing piece of art that will forever stand the test of time. Praise Miyazaki
Spoiler-Free Review: Finished replaying the base game for the second time just now, and went ahead and finished both the DLCs for the first time. Not realizing that there wasn't cloud saves for this one made me go through another playthrough to get to the DLCs but I'm not mad, rather happy that I got to play it through with another class and another playstyle. For the base game, you'll realise soon enough why it's considered to be a tough game. It's oppressive as hell, but if you push ahead, nothing will permanently stop you. You adapt, you learn and you ultimately get past areas, bosses, and yourself. The optional bosses in the base game are arguably the best that it has to offer, so don't miss out. As for the DLCs, Ashes of Ariandel was a mixed bag for me, with an okayish environment that got old fast, and enemies that were a bit tedious to get away from. As for the bosses, the main boss is a endurance fight, one of the very best in the game, and the length of it caught me off guard. As for the Ringed City DLC, I enjoyed it a lot. The traversal and the design of the map was top notch, and the enemies, while brutal, are satisfying to beat. The two main bosses not counting the semi npc fight, were astonishingly good, and epic. The optional boss is proabably the hardest boss in the game and one of the toughest, yet one of the coolest bosses to fight and defeat. The game brings the Dark Souls saga to a close in a beautiful manner, melancholic in a way, with the best feeling boss fight, and a sombre close to the chapter of the Dark Soul. This game is not for everyone. It can be highly oppressive at times, and borderline confusing during phases, but it is cathartic in its satisfaction of a playthrough, and it's maybe why, people continue to flock into souls games. Good luck, Ashen One. 9.5/10.
Possibly my favorite Souls-like game as it is the one that truly got me into them back in 2016, now 10-years later I still enjoy it just as much as I did back then. Say what you say but imo the whole Dark Souls trilogy is a beautiful experience and I love them as they are.
the camera angles in this game against the nameless king 1st phase is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥, the boss is not even hard, u are fighting against the camera angles. other than that, peak game

I'm going to be honest, I was solely excited to get into the Souls games strictly in anticipation for finally getting to play Dark Souls 3, because of everything I heard about it, everything I read and saw about it. (I even got all of the achievements for the first game because of how much it intrigued me!) It's also been an extremely long time since the box art of a videogame made me wish to play it, let alone get into a franchise, solely because of how beautiful it looked. That main menu music has been stuck in my mind for about a year now. Did this game live up to my expectations? Mostly... YES! I liked my time with it so much that I didn't want to move on right after finishing it (I got all the achievements, after all). To me, this is the best game in the Dark Souls trilogy of games. I'm personally happy about the linear level design that detaches itself from the design philosophy of the first game. Dark Souls 3 ended up being the most focused, consistent and tightly designed and "put-together" game in this series. I stopped feeling an itch of longing for the open map of the first game, shortly after getting through the first half and getting comfortable with it. The slick, smooth controls also make it very difficult to go back to the previous 2 dark souls games. Art-style is as pretty as I imagined it would be... (maybe the color palette is a little exaggerated with how "lifeless" it can look, but I still love it.). Boss-Fights/Mini Boss-Fights. The best part about the game! Probably the biggest inspiration for players to continuously replay this game. The fact that a big amount of people replay this game solely because of its' boss fights (not because of a completion rate or to master them, but solely because of how COOL they are and how EPIC it feels to fight them). I feel like Dark Souls 3 unironically has some dark magic(lol) to it because of how addictive some of these bosses are to fight. The final boss-fight of the main game is my favorite boss fight of all time. Always had the chills whenever he entered the second phase. (Hell, at one point, I even got teary-eyed?) The game itself is not without its' problems though, some of them being the usual FromSoftware bullcrap. -(Spoiler-ish?) While I do love the boss fights, some of them are genuinely bad. I never understood the glaze for the Nameless King. The first phase is not fun at all and it's really badly put-together strictly because of also the biggest problem in the souls games - ... -The Camera. Yeah, it's still a mess even in Dark Souls 3. During some boss fights it feels like the Camera itself is also an enemy that fights you alongside the enemies you encounter(especially the bosses, which is REALLY crucial). Nameless King takes the cake because of how horrible it is there. -Obnoxious Online PVP with barely any positive experiences (unfortunately similar to my experiences in the previous Dark Souls games) -Piss-Poor PC Port. Annoyingly outdated 60 FPS Lock (I managed to unlock it, but it breaks physics past 90 FPS, so beware! Another annoying thing is you apparently can get banned if you unlock FPS? Wtf). Controller button icons if you play with mouse and keyboard...... I had to get used to that, especially(AGAIN...? I THOUGHT ONLY DARK SOULS 2 HAD THIS TERRIBLE ISSUE!). I felt like I was being spat on by the developers strictly due to the frustratingly messy progress I had with getting used to this freaking mess of a control system. Game was not only released in 2016, but it also had all of the time in the world to get updated, patched and fixed with crucial stuff like this in the 10 years it's been released since. -Parry system somehow feels and even more inconsistent than in the first game(not even going to mention the second game on this one, lol). -Sometimes it is a shame how roll-focused it is, and the shields start to feel quite useless at times. This gets more and more disappointing to know the further you progress, because it restricts you from some creative ways you can face some of the enemies and even boss-fights. Shields should've gotten a better treatment. -Miyazaki got a little too cocky with how some of the enemies behave. -Overwhelmingly convoluted questlines. -THE JOURNEY TO 100% COMPLETION WAS QUITE... PAINFUL? If I rushed throughout it and if I forced myself to get all the achievements as quick as possible I think I would've gone absolutely mad and insane. Dark Souls 1 taught me this lesson, already. (I WANT TO THANK THE "DS3 CHEAT SHEET GUIDE")! I don't care if getting the achievements is optional, developers should offer more creative and inspired ways to make players return to their games, especially when it comes to players exploring their games to their deepest ends. If I didn't have this big of a love for the game, I would've put it down after my first NG+. (those freaking stairs, bruh...) Overall, I'm happy I about the journey I had with the Dark Souls games. I'm looking forward to replay them eventually in the future(especially this one!). The was a profound feeling of "hopeful emptiness" and loneliness that washed over me as the credits rolled. It's been quite a while since I got this attached to videogames, let alone a game series, and inspired just to finish them. It took me a while for it to click with me, but once it clicked, I felt like there was no going back. Thank you, FromSoftware, Miyazaki, and all of those passionate people who worked and still continue to work on games such as this. And thank you to the community for inspiring me, and helping me to push forward with this series! I got to experience some of the most memorable gaming moments I've had in quite a long while, and these games helped with me not loosing the passion I have for gaming. It made me remember why I loved this hobby so much. +BONUS: Also took some of the coolest screenshots I've ever taken!
