The worst souls game ever made !
Забавный факт, что при игре в ДС2, даже несмотря на то, что игру делал не Хидетака, после каждой вашей смерти вспоминать вы будете именно его и, возможно, его маму. Парадокс, не иначе?
A lot of people seem to be saying that this version is much better than Scholar of the First Sin. After playing both, I can say that the differences between the two aren't really substantial enough to warrant those claims. I think Scholar definitely makes a few changes that are pretty negative, such as to Heide's Tower of Flame and Aldia's Keep, but the rest of the changes are either very minor improvements, very minor downgrades, or sidegrades. Some of the enemy placement changes Scholar makes sort of feel a bit missed in this version. Like, a lot of the enemy placement in the OG game is just like "we put 7 of one guy in this room". Scholar of the First Sin removes like 3 of the 7 guys, and replaces them with one or two different guys. It feels substantially more inspired in Scholar for the most part. Probably the biggest advantage of Scholar of the First Sin, though, is that it adds an easy-to-access bonfire ascetic farming method that is absent from this version of the game. Being able to access unlimited bonfire ascetics basically makes every other item you'd ever care to farm for available in unlimited quantities. I'd say my final verdict is that the original version is probably better for your first playthrough, but if you're ever replaying the game, Scholar is superior. Either way, I'm glad both versions exist, and I'm also glad that Multiplayer still functions in both versions. It was fun to experience the differences myself, and I have no regrets purchasing this on sale. I'd definitely pay for a "Scholar of the First Sin" treatment for DS3, but we'll probably never get that.
The black sheep of the Dark Souls trilogy. Needs to be played to understand how good the newer games have gotten. It tries a lot of new things and it is not just the same game in a new jacket. The system got overhauled. Lot of quality of life changes that were implemeneted worked well. Some had the averse effect. It takes guts to try all these new things, but you can tell the devlopers missed thetime to properly implement everything. Monsters bosses and NPC fights are very frustrating to pass. The runback or travel to bosses is the worst of the 3 DS titles. Sometimes its just better to grind away the enemies, since they stop respawning after 12 deaths, than to rush back to the boss. Enemy lock on and tracking distance for ranged attacks is absurd, while your own spells and ranged attacks are close to melee distance. Response time for attacks or defensive rolls require serious stat investments to actually have the standard defensive rolls or potion drink times like the other games. Unlike DS3 "the door does not open from this side edition" this game feels more open though in praactice it loops around a lot too. Graphic wise it's good at the beginning but at the end of the game, most areas start to feel empty or copy-paste same texture. DLC is horrible and a mess. The bosses a pure PITA or even worse, boring, except for the Fume Knight and the samurai. Te second game to grind 100%, not as tedious as DS3 but not fun either. Covenant grinding is just not fun anytime. Completionists beware. change of pace from DS1 is very refreshing but at the same time you get the idea a different developer made this and slapped a Dark Souls sauce on it, like Doki Doki panic and Super Mario 2 for the NES. A decent standalone story that holds together better than Ds1 and DS3 but thats given the other 2 too much credit. Its about the journey and not the destination. Going Tank build saved me the most frustration but better players than me have gotten through it with glass cannons on a much higher pace.
