this game offers a very unique experience to the soulslike genre, in addition to the hardest boss in fiction, the controls. The game "dev" seemingly forgot to put an options menu in the game but this is fine as it further more elevates the medieval peasant feel of not being granted ♥♥♥♥. Fell out of the map after teleporting behind a wall 10/10

Dark Fantasy Warriors, developed and published by WarriorsStudio, is an independent action RPG that draws heavy inspiration from the Souls-like genre while attempting to deliver its own dark fantasy adventure on a much smaller scale. Created by a solo developer, the game embraces many of the defining characteristics that fans of difficult action games have come to expect: punishing combat, intimidating bosses, hostile environments, and a constant sense of danger. Although it lacks the polish and scope of the genre's biggest names, it demonstrates a clear passion for challenging gameplay and dark fantasy worldbuilding. The game's premise is intentionally straightforward. Players are thrust into a bleak realm consumed by darkness, where monstrous enemies and deadly warriors stand between them and survival. Rather than relying heavily on cinematic storytelling or lengthy dialogue sequences, the game focuses on action and exploration. The narrative serves primarily as a framework that justifies the player's journey through dangerous landscapes and increasingly difficult encounters. This minimalist approach may not satisfy players seeking a deep story, but it allows the gameplay to remain the central focus throughout the experience. Combat is the area where Dark Fantasy Warriors invests most of its attention. Every encounter demands caution and timing, encouraging players to observe enemy behavior rather than simply attacking recklessly. Battles reward patience, positioning, and learning attack patterns. Enemies are capable of inflicting significant damage, meaning even ordinary confrontations can become dangerous if approached carelessly. This constant threat creates a sense of tension that remains present throughout much of the adventure and gives victories a satisfying feeling of accomplishment. The game offers several approaches to combat, allowing players to utilize melee weapons, ranged attacks, and magical abilities. This variety prevents encounters from becoming overly repetitive and provides opportunities to experiment with different strategies. Some players may prefer engaging enemies directly with swords and close-quarters combat, while others may rely on magic or ranged attacks to maintain a safer distance. Although the systems are not exceptionally deep by modern action RPG standards, they offer enough flexibility to support multiple playstyles. Exploration forms another major part of the experience. Players travel through several dark fantasy environments filled with enemies, hidden areas, and dangerous encounters. The locations emphasize atmosphere over scale, creating a world that feels hostile and unforgiving. Ancient ruins, dark landscapes, and threatening pathways contribute to the sense of isolation that defines much of the journey. While the world design does not achieve the complexity or interconnected nature found in larger Souls-inspired games, it succeeds in maintaining a consistent tone that complements the overall experience. Boss encounters are among the game's strongest features. These battles serve as major milestones that test the player's understanding of combat mechanics and enemy behavior. Many bosses require repeated attempts before their attack patterns can be fully understood, creating a rewarding sense of progression as players gradually improve. Defeating one of these powerful enemies often feels like a genuine achievement, particularly because the game rarely offers easy victories. Visually, Dark Fantasy Warriors presents a respectable effort considering its independent origins. Built using Unreal Engine technology, the game captures the dark and oppressive atmosphere expected from its genre inspirations. Lighting effects, environmental details, and creature designs help establish a world filled with danger and mystery. While technical limitations are evident in certain areas, the overall presentation effectively supports the game's dark fantasy identity and demonstrates a commendable level of ambition for a project of this scale. One of the most admirable aspects of the game is the dedication behind its creation. Developing a third-person action RPG as a solo project is a considerable challenge, especially when attempting to recreate mechanics associated with some of the industry's most respected action games. Throughout the experience, there is a clear sense that the developer genuinely understands and appreciates the genre. This passion is reflected in the game's emphasis on difficulty, exploration, and rewarding combat encounters. However, the game's independent nature also reveals several limitations. Combat occasionally lacks the responsiveness and precision that players may expect from more polished action RPGs. Certain animations can feel rigid, and movement sometimes lacks the fluidity necessary to make every encounter feel completely satisfying. These issues do not render the game unplayable, but they do highlight the challenges faced by smaller development projects. The overall level design can also feel inconsistent at times. While the environments successfully establish atmosphere, they occasionally lack the intricate layouts and memorable landmarks that define the genre's best worlds. Some areas feel more functional than inspired, serving primarily as pathways between combat encounters rather than destinations worth exploring for their own sake. Players familiar with larger Souls-like games may notice these shortcomings relatively quickly. Technical roughness extends beyond the combat system. Certain interface elements and gameplay systems feel underdeveloped compared to contemporary releases. Tutorials and onboarding mechanics may leave some players confused, particularly during the opening stages. These issues can create unnecessary frustration and occasionally make the learning process more difficult than intended. Despite its flaws, Dark Fantasy Warriors remains an interesting project for players who appreciate independent game development and enjoy challenging action RPGs. The core gameplay loop of exploration, combat, and boss battles remains engaging enough to carry the experience, particularly for those willing to overlook its rough edges. The game never fully reaches the heights of the titles that inspired it, but it succeeds in capturing some of the tension and satisfaction that make the genre appealing. Ultimately, Dark Fantasy Warriors is a game driven by ambition. It delivers a dark fantasy adventure filled with difficult encounters, dangerous enemies, and rewarding victories while operating within the limitations of a solo-developed project. Players seeking a polished blockbuster experience may find its shortcomings difficult to ignore, but those who appreciate smaller independent efforts and enjoy Souls-like gameplay will discover a sincere and determined attempt to recreate the genre's core appeal. Très mauvais : * Pas d'options. * Pas de vrai tuto. * Aucune sensation dans les combats. * ...
Best dark souls of the four
A bon entendeur...
