This game is SO GOOD and well worth the money. I'm a huge fan of the DF games and TLC. I think DF Lost Souls was my least favorite, so I was happy to discover this one recently. All of the reference to TLC made me so happy. It's spooky and challenging but not overly so, and the graphics are gorgeous. It is point and click, as are all of Boakes' games, so if that's not your style you may not like this. I grew up with point and click so this feels very nostalgic despite being a newer game. Now if Darkling could pretty pretty pleaseeeee finally release Blackenrock, Silent Night, and Storm Warning it would be wonderful :')
I dislike being called all the time on the walkie talkie and it's hard to move foreward in the game. The explanation could have been better, Liked the other Dark Fall games a lot more, although I respect what the intentions were (to make the game more realistic) Robert
As with many of Jonathan Boakes creations, this game is has a streak of cookyness to it, and has that point and click charm that many like myself enjoy. Of all the Dark Fall Games, this one is by far his best and most polished to date, incorporating the ghost-hunting tech that I loved in The Lost Crown. (As well as the Lost Crown Easter Eggs within the game) The story as well is pretty solid, which is what I come to Darkling Room games for. It has hints of horror here and there, and the most terrifying parts are infrequent enough that anyone who is adverse to it them should be able to make it through the game just fine. The puzzles are for the most part easy enough to get through, and understandable, though there are a couple that can be a bit tedious towards the end of the game, involving school work and a telescope. And the very beginning can be a bit annoying as your NPC teammates constantly interrupt your investigations over walkie talkies. If you like point-and-clicks like me, this is a find addition to any collection, and an one of the better specimen's of Boakes' work. You can actively tell the improvement that has been made over the course of the Dark Fall series and that is always a good sign from a developer. Boakes's is one of my favorite indie developers and is the producer of my favorite Point-And-Click of all time, and I can't wait to see where he takes the series next. I have been following his work since I was introduced to it in 2008 with the Lost Crown, and recommend most of his games for Point-and-click adventure fans.
I've played this game several times, and love it every time! I got to Saxton this last time around. Can't wait till the next game!
Excellent game, lots of creepy locations to explore including time travel.
i really like it! love that 'old-school' writing every possible clue down and figuring stuff out on the go. sometime you will get lost bc u can explore everything after you completet the first part. it helps do make your own map of all the places. the only thing that really bothered me were the 'spooky' sound effects, in the beginnig it really adds to the atmosphere but after a while it gets annoying real quick.
I have purchased and played all of the Darkling Room games and I am a huge fan! I love being able to play what I also do in real life, it's an odd and guilty pleasure I have, imagining I will capture anything just as crazy in these games as I do in real life haha. The game is challenging but do-able and I am very impressed with the story line and how Boakes conjures up the ideas for the tasks etc. Very fun game and I love the upgraded usage of the tech in this one especially the Thermal camera, its one of my favourite tools to use in real life! Keep making more games please and I eagerly await the next 2 new ones coming out, gotta get my Danvers fix!
little annoying at first with all the chitter chater on walkie, but fun creepy and lots to ecplore. fun ghosty games
Darkling Room's best game to date
