For years, Barton Mansion sat abandoned, a haunting reminder of an obsession gone wrong. But something sinister still lurked there...and it's stirring.

Dark Dimensions 5: Homecoming (IHOG) Options include Full-screen, Widescreen, Custom Cursor and separate sliders for Music, SFX and Voices. Choice of three preset difficulties, or you can go with Custom mode. Difficulty can be changed at any time.
Story
When you were young, your parents disappeared whilst researching something called Dark Dimensions. You and your sister have been searching for them for years, coming across Dark Dimensions in your travels, learning about them and destroying them. Finally, you've found where it all began -- the place where your parents disappeared -- and now you'll learn the truth surrounding your family. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2314538469 Our phone serves as our Journal, and contains tabs for the Interactive Map, Notes (just clippings and such, nothing new to add to the story), Video Diary and Achievements. NOTE: The map can be a little confusing, as it's sometimes hard to tell if you're clicking on the place you want to go or an area, which expands to show locations. Also, NOTHING gets blocked off -- You can access every location at any time, even if story-wise you're trapped elsewhere.
Gameplay
The backstory progresses through a series of interactive puzzle-like scenes, which really keeps you engaged and interested in what's happening. Mini-games in general are interesting and not hard to complete, although there are some exceptions. There is one puzzle that requires not only quick responses, but memorization of where symbols are located, as there's no way to be quick enough without doing so. Our Tasks and game progression are logical and intuitive... You know, except for handling live wires with our bare hands. :p The Hidden Object Scenes are highly-interactive, often requiring you to find an object to unlock another object and/or completing zoom-in puzzles to progress. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2309446656 We have a cute Siberian Husky, Rocky, who accompanies us on our journey and helps out when needed. Along the way we collect COINS, which are used to decorate his room. If you click on the items in the room, Rocky will interact with them. A nice touch, and just a small indicator of the extra mile the devs went to for this game.
CE Content

Collectible Coins and Mansion parts
In-game Achievements
Integrated Strategy Guide
Bonus Chapter
Match-3 game (8 puzzle-type levels where you click on a group of tiles to remove them, and have limited moves)
6 Wallpapers
12 Concept Art
Developer Diary (a very cute video + 18 pictures behind the scenes)
4 Music Tracks (which cannot be saved)

Bonus Chapter
The game has a decent stopping point, but there's a bit more to the story, which is picked up in this extra chapter. The bonus is the same high quality as the rest of the game, although it seemed like the mini-games were more complex. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2314541063
Verdict
A lot of care was put into this game, and it shows. The story was interesting, the graphics very nice and the gameplay excellent! The ending came unexpectedly for me, but that's likely because I'm very logic-minded and needed more information on a couple of points to be truly satisfied. Overall, this is a stellar game in an excellent series.
VERY fun game. Good story, map , sound, graphics, all top notch. i particularly liked the hog scenes as they were so interactive and like small puzzles of their own..AND were small in amount of things to find or interact with, so it never got boring. I always watch any games, "behind the scenes/ making of" the game (if available) as they are always interesting and fun; really recommend watching daily magic's .. Normally I am not a fan of, "helpers", in a game but the husky, "Rocky" was ADORABLE as they had tiny FMV clips for his activities and his comic, goofy husky face.
The fifth in the series, you have been summoned by your sister to the Barton Mansion… the place where your parents disappeared leaving you as orphans. This time it is personal. Can you solve the mystery of your missing parents? And save yourselves? The minigames are challenging, the HO scenes fun, and the plot engaging.
5 Stars
Great game but you get to a certain point and cannot proceed any further. Hit "Play" button and game falls through to desktop.
Although it's a pretty good HOPA game, it does not look, feel and follow the story of the previous two games: Dark Dimensions: The City of Fog and Dark Dimensions: Wax Figures [sic]. Sure, it may be stunning in terms of the effort put into it: Rocky the sidekick dog, coin purchasing doggy treats and house collectibles. However, this game contains may kitchy stuff. The first two games felt real, gloomy and mysterious. If the devs know what I mean. This one is just kitch. You can even tell by the colors of the background scenes. I will give a list of PROS which aims at offering elements that make this game playable for any HOPA game fan and CONS which arms at offering elements that should have appeared since this game is a closing chapter to the Dark Dimensions trilogy. PROS: - Female protagonist; - Rocky the sidekick dog; - Fast-travelling map; - Different journal entries; - Not your usual pick the item HO games; - Varied minigames; - Collectibles that remind one of the Dark Romance series; - Supernatural blends in with the natural; - In-game achievements; - A reverse version of Edgar Allan Poe's "The Fall of the House of Usher". CONS: - Lack of the main male protagonist from the previous two games; - No atmospheric music or environmental sounds; - Lack of minor jumpscares; - Lack of real background scenes (blue, pink and yellow are kitch colors); - Nothing of the good old diary; - Story doesn't add up with the previous two games (there may be some similarities, but they don't link); - The HO scenes and minigames feel like any other HOPA game; I wish the devs would stop thinking that "these improvements" sell well. I think people would appreciate an old version of a game they love instead of this new modern rendition. All I have to say for the HOPA fans is that this game is for them. All I have to say for the Dark Dimensions fan like me is that this game is not worth it.
I had a great time playing the entire game. The graphics are impressive and the story is very good. Pros: + Map. + Music. + Gameplay.
If you like seeing your hard work constantly undermined, this is the game for you! In all seriousness, this game was a ton of fun. The dog is adorable and a fun mechanic to add to the game. The puzzles are interesting, the story is good. I would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of this genre. However, if you are just getting into hidden object games, this is a bad one to start off with, for two reasons: For one, it's constantly undermining your success. This game has a lot of the typical puzzles and such that you need to solve to unlock certain areas or obtain certain items. However, instead of the solutions being used to, you know, unlock a new area, your efforts are consistently rewarded with... evil vines coming in and wrecking all of your hard work. Like, what was the point of me solving the puzzle, or fixing this contraption, only to have it destroyed the instant I'm done with it? Wouldn't the vines have destroyed it anyways? It's incredibly frustrating, and it happens CONSTANTLY. Second, I found myself relying on the guide WAY more than I would like. The solutions to some of the puzzles were kind of obscure, or relied on you remembering a small detail from several stages ago. I like solving puzzles, don't get me wrong, but I don't have the memory to remember that i saw the solution to a puzzle several rooms ago. If you have a really good memory, this might not be a problem for you, but it was for me. Ultimately, this game was a fun ride and had some interesting puzzles to boot. The story was also interesting, and did a good job motivating the player to keep going. It's just a shame that the gameplay itself worked to hard to undo that motivation.
Love all of the Dark Dimension games
Good enough game play and puzzles, the HOGs are also small puzzles.
