100NOK (8-10USD) for an emulator and a rom in a nice package is a bit much. The emulator in question. https://mednafen.github.io/documentation/gba.html I understand that it is hard to compete with piracy, but people who decide to pay for old titles deserve a better experience than this.
OMG! really seriously $13 AUD to play a GBA game on pc with no additional support or any work done to make the game more playable. No mouse support. No resolution options. Nothing heres the game basically but worse. Please if you really want to play this game stick to the GBA version cause this version is just a emulation that has stretched the game to fit a PC monitor.
So this is a game that released on Gameboy Advance back in 2002. Going through the settings you can remap the terrible control scheme £9.29 is a bit much for a bit of nostalgia though
A underrated, really good DooM clone for GBA. It's quite an important game for the console, tech wise, as its one of the few really impressive made-for-system FPS games for the GBA and not one of the ports like DooM 1 and 2 and Wolfenstein 3D. I understand everyones complaints in the reviews, but this is the most convenient way to get this game now, and its currently going cheaper than physical copies go (Anywhere between $15 and $40 before shipping and tax). Yes, it's emulation, but you get a legal copy in the files of the rom that you can use on any emulator you wish, and you can even use that rom to play on actual hardware if you have the know how. I want more GBA games to come to steam, whether they are good or bad games, or good ports or shoddy emulation. The history of it being preserved legally is what matters the most. So yes, I do think $11 is entirely fair, and I do recommend you buy it.
A straight port of a game that it is nearly 25 years old but is still fun to play. This is a basic Doom clone with some drab environments but I would still recommend it. There is a decent variety of weapons and enemies and once you get use to the controls you should have a good time. However if you aren't into retro games this might not be for you due to the lack of enhancements for modern players.
As a someone who has played trough this whole game i can tell you: yeah its just a crappy Doom clone running on a GBA emulator. It surprisingly can become pretty enjoyable if you somehow can get used to the controls and the occasional lag. I must admit that the real reason why i liked playing Dark Arena so much is probably that i had been curious about it way before it was ever published on steam. Even though its just a Doom clone its a 3D FPS title exclusive to the GBA. If you like having obscure stuff in your collection then maybe you want to consider buying Dark Arena but ONLY do it during a sales event because the current price is just insane. Oh, and please check out my artwork in the community. Im sure youll love it.
what a pitiful port... a damn shame because this gba game was my DOOM growing up. Its the lowest effort port i've ever seen. the game runs in front of a crappy image background. there was ZERO thoughts on aesthetic or anything. its incredibly sloppy and "thrown together" with a rom running in the front only way i got it playable was steam deck with hotfix. ran like hell on my computer now the real dark arena, i love. Please fix this mess and then ill buy.
