What a masterpiece. Danganronpa 1 already set my expectations high but apparently, that wasn't enough. In the world of visual novels games, this one stands out as one of THE most ferocious. It somehow manages to trigger most of your emotions, unironically despair and hope, at least for me. I have to appreciate the story team behind this game. Seriously, how can they come up with such great cases, plot and dialogues. I really liked chiaki nanami and ibuki moida. I hated hiyoko and mahiru. Those two are genuinely such a insufferable existence. << ( Major spoilers ahead ) >> The game could have ended at chapter 5, it was a brutal case that got me all fired up. But it wasn't the end, just the beginning of absolute peak. We got a insane amount of game lore and then the danganronpa 1 characters themselves. The moment i saw kyoko and byakuga, i almost got off my chair. Since both these characters were my favorite in the first game. Seeing them again and the first game's infrastructure in general would of course make me feel nostalgic. hajime hinata being izuru, the island and characters themselves being virtual, return of junko, discovery of the students themselves being ultimate despair, chaiki being a ai, the plot twists keep coming and coming and man, did those plot twist not change the game experience by a 1000x fold. the plot of the students forced into choosing to return the real world and have no memory of the virtual one, meaning they would likely turn back into ultimate despair and junko would take over the bodies of there dead friends or simply stay there forever. The student ultimately choosing shutdown, which came later as in 3rd option. I have played this game for literal hours and hours, i am simply enable to look away from this insane plot. I literally got chills when the number "11037" was first mentioned. Crazy work of the developers to give a 5 digit number such significance. I don't think i will ever be able to forget this number considering its impact. there is a reason why it says "Overwhelmingly Positive" on the reviews, because its just that good. I liked the entire concept of hope vs despair this game has centered around. The more you play, the better it gets. The music of this game is great, i personally like "RE: New world order", it plays whenever a huge new discovery has been made. There are other music that are worth mentioning too, like closing argument, desire for execution, climatic return and so on. With so many audios, the gameplay obviously becomes more easier to lose yourself in. I am extremely hyped up for danganronpa 3, the bar is set really high but somehow i don't doubt it can be reached ( i hope this doesn't age poorly ) Maybe that's the entire plan of the game, to make people hopeful for the future. Apparently danganronpa 2x2 sprite is in development where the characters of Danganronpa 2 return but with entirely different story, blackened, victims, etc. I will surely purchase 2x2 the moment it is available.
best game
Говно
Game opens with even more fan service than before. I figured I'd purchase a bundle on sale, but I am just simply not part of this... audience.
overall danganronpa 2 was a very good game with a very colourful cast of characters and the overarching mystery was enjoyable to unravel as the game progressed along with all the murders along the way. one thing that was not to my liking was that the final cast was not as strong as the first game but hajime 100% makes up for it.
