Hello there. Since I own an old pc I figured that making a review could help others see how games (in this case, Cult of the Lamb) run on dated hardware. So that's what I'll do first. After that, i'll review the game itself.
Game Optimisation
Settings i played on: 1080p with graphics set to high (shadows/particles on) running at around 50-60 fps (my monitor can do max 60fps). Game installed on HDD The minimum requiremets for this game are very forgiving and easily accessible even to older pc's models. As for my experience, I didn't have any major FPS drops during normal gameplay. The game was smooth with little to no input lag. I never had any performance or driver compatibility issues. Considering my pc is from the AM3+ era (2012) i can say pretty confidently that this game is WELL OPTIMIZED . I, with my specs, was above the minimum requirements (which says a lot). Based on my experience, systems close to the minimum requirements should still have a good chance of running the game by lowering the resolution and graphics settings. The Only thing worth mentioning is that an Outdated gpu driver might make the experience unstable (but that's something the game can't do much about). Long Gameplay Sessions could also cause some rare fps drops (still we are talking about a drop of max 10 fps). 9.5/10
The Game

Graphics
The Graphics are clean, polished and fluid for a 2d Game. The Art style is cute and the Animations are Cartoonish but not out of place. The Colours are really bright and lively which is expected with an Art Style such as that. To sum it up, they are well done and they match the game's vibe. Whether you enjoy it will mostly depend on how much you like colourful and cartoonish art styles even although, just by looking at the game's store page, it should immediately be clear to you (the trailer and photos showcase the art style/Graphics pretty well on their own) 10/10
Story
The Story is pretty simple and straightforward. You are a Lamb who's gotta grow their cult while defeating other gods with their own cults (crazy how the title explains it all). The Themes are simple (slavery, power, injustice) and obviously not explored in much dept. There is a Particular focus on the Mistery of what this world was like in the past (before the lamb came) and how it ended up as it is. This could be interesting for some people but It is clear that the focus of the game was not its story. HOWEVER the world-building is interesting which could get you intreasted in the world of this game 7/10
Gameplay
Best way to describe the Gameplay of this game is a mix of Management and an accessible action roguelite with a pinch of Bullet Hell. You gotta manage the followers of your cult and provide for their needs (food, shelter) while also needing to keep their devotion high with rituals. Be aware that Followers are REALLY REALLY dumb, so it will feel like being a dad/mom who has to manage 10-20 toddlers. As you will progress with the story, you will unlock new features to make things more automated (just like your average management game). Yet i must say that, thanks to the art style and the quick progression, it never gets boring. As for the Fighting part of the game, as i said it is an accessible action roguelite. At normal difficulty, the bosses are pretty easy, the bullets not so many and the attacks easy to dodge by rolling around (Dark souls teaches). The power ups are obtained through a "gambling system" with the Tarot Cards adding a bit more variety to the gameplay (i say "a bit more" cause the effects of such cards most of the time are not that impactful). You fight monsters while progressing through the map room by room, section by section until you reach the final Boss room. Despite the power ups you can achieve, the tarot cards and the bosses' abilities, the fighting can get a bit repetitive. This is mainly because you will need to farm many resources (mainly gold) in order to progress and one of the few ways to do that will be by redoing some sections over and over. However the feeling of being repetitive is sweetened by good graphics (animations and art style), random events you can stumble upon and a nice soundtrack. 8/10
Characters
The Characters are pretty simple. They are not deep or masterfully written but, as you might have understood, that's not the goal of the game. They are goofy and cute and fit the vibe of the game without feeling out of place. Also, the art style makes them more enjoyable (for those who enjoy the cartoonish style). 7/10
Soundtrack
The Soundtracks used are nothing over the top, they don't take steal your focus away from the game but they are also catchy. Best way for me to describe it is like that tune that always blends into the background to the point that you forget about it until the catchy part kicks in which makes you stop for a second to vibe to it. They respect the general vibe of the game and they blend into it harmoniously 8/10
Final Verdict
Cult of the Lamb is a pretty enjoyable game. Its graphics and art style are its strong points while the story and the characters are simple but not bad. The soundtrack blends in well while the Game itself is well Optimized, making it a smooth experience. I'd say that what makes the Game GOOD is how every aspect of it, while simple, comes together in harmony without making anything feel out of place. 8.25/10
