Cube Gothic is a stylistic SHMUP with a unique look and gameplay elements. Here's a quick rundown of my impressions. +
The Good
+ + Beautiful visual style. + Excellent soundtrack, although a little niche - so will not please everyone. + Tight controls and gameplay. -
The Bad
- - Auto-saves HP when starting a new level, meaning when you die and respawn at the start of the level, you could theoretically respawn infinitely at 1HP. - Mount Everest-esque difficulty curve. ?
The Indifferent
? ? Can be frustrating and confusing to those new to this game genre. ? .sdrawkcab deyalpsid si txet eht fo emoS Final thoughts: Inexpensive, good polished finish. If you're familiar with SHMUP, get it. If new, try it at a sale price. Overall: 14/20
Artsyle is top-notch and gameplay is challenging as always, but not as hard as previous games imo. Play this if you want a one of a kind experience.

bad game
do your times tables :V
This has to be one of the most visually striking and mechanically inventive shmups I've ever played. If you have the slightest interest in playing do pick it up. Its very hard but its also pretty forgiving. The worst the game will do is put you at the start of the level when you die, and the levels aren't that long (in a good way). Also don't close the game unless you've shot one of those save cubes. The game won't remember the last level you did. Also also if you open the game and are confused, don't worry. Its supposed to look like that.

What a crazy game. Wild and inspired visuals, interesting music, solid gameplay. The plot is bizarre and at some points incomprehensible, but often does a good job of communicating an ethereal back world experience. I think it could have done without the curse words and informal grammar though, they make it impossible to take seriously. This was my first Arkhouse game so the difficulty was intimidating, but after completing the main game I can say it was not so bad. I had some problem spots but aside from obtuse puzzles I was always able to create a route that made the projectiles manageable. It was only downright miserable in a few places. I appreciate the hit point system, it gives you enough points so you do not get taken out of the stage before you've learned anything, but not so many that you can just sit back and tank attacks. One thing you have to get used to early on is the patterns are not quite deterministic. Where you are and what you do can influence where particles go in the future, they're not the same every time which I appreciate. Because this game is a bit unrecognized its hard to find good information. The lack of information also plagues some of the puzzle elements. Some of them I still don't understand, I was forced to look them up. The color puzzle was simply too obtuse, there's nothing to go on. I ended up looking up a guide. Same with some of the later random numbers, I'm not sure how to derive them. Thank god for the shadowsberg youtube channel because if not for that I would have had to give up the game entirely as there was no way forward after multiple hours spent on a solution. And after I've felt like a puzzle was not reasonable I'm much more likely to give up on later ones. I like this game and I understand that some of the more convoluted elements are intentional design decisions. The difficulty is not such I think that you can't beat it if you are relentless, but be prepared to grind, and in some cases resort to the internet. I love the gameplay, I just wish someone had proof read the character lines. The nonsense noises, grammatical errors and out of place expletives were incredibly distracting.
Art is insane, just like the difficulty.
