About
SAY ANYTHING in Cryptmaster - the bizarre dungeon-crawling adventure where words control everything.
In the ancient past, four brave heroes banded together to destroy a terrible evil, giving their lives to save countless others. But now their eternal rest has been disturbed by the Cryptmaster, a capricious necromancer in whose thrall they must ascend through the buried strata of the city above them - the gloomy Bonehouses, mysterious Sunken Sea and freakish Downwood.
With the enigmatic Soulstone in hand, the four adventurers must recover their memories, solve whimsical puzzles and defeat outlandish enemies. From fishing and card games to bardic rap battles, finding the right word is the key to success. Who knows, maybe you'll even remember a little more than you bargained for...

I really wish there was a "mixed" option, because thats how I would describe the game. the first two areas were by all accounts amazing, they had combat, puzzles, clues and was all and all pretty fair then the third area, where eighty percent of the enemies now do two damage, the hints and puzzles are so beyond niche that you would have to look it up. and the fetch quest for the helmets was just a repeat of the first area, but if the third area was the worst. whats the most boring and forgettable? the final area, you can skip the paladins, and the ones you dont skip ALL do two damage, and the final bossfight is such a nothing burger that I didnt even realize it was the final fight. If I forget about the third and final area, I would consider it a part of my list of favourite games. so that is exactly what I am going to do

good
One of those strange approaches to a game that just works.
Innovative Word-based Game. The Tradingcard Minigame probably makes up half my playtime and is excellent to break up longer stretches of Puzzling
this game actually has interesting visuals and a good and fun game mechanic. i dont t think i would ve gotten it if i had to play full price but if you can catch a sale it s worth it.
I enjoyed the game, very different than what I'm used to playing and a breath of fresh air. It's quirky, interesting and for anyone enjoying puzzles and words, I'd definitely recommend picking it up.

I like playing hangman
It's a fun little game where you use typed words to fight enemies and solve riddles. Some of the riddles are extremely easy...but some are extremely difficult, though. It has a horror-esque noire feel to the game, but it's also got funny crude elements involved. There is a card game inside of the game called "Whatever" and it's really fun in my opinion. I still go back to play it every now and then, even after beating the game. I really wish there existed a physical version of the Whatever game that I could purchase to play with friends. I do have some gripes other than some of the riddles being pretty convoluted. When you beat the game, you probably won't even have half of the character's words (memories) unlocked, nor will you have half of the total number of cards for Whatever. Even after playing for a while, I still am missing several of the Whatever cards, and I don't think I will ever obtain them all. There isn't even a catalog or master list online anywhere to tell you what ones you are missing, or how to get them (they added over 100 cards in 2024, so the wiki/fandom is outdated). This grind to complete these 2 things is absolutely grueling. Also, some of the sound design in the game drove me nuts. There are a few words that you can use for one of the characters that will spawn a phantom dog. This dog will yip and bark constantly, even after the fight is over. Quite annoying. Similarly there are fairies that will constantly blurt out letters that you can hear from quite far away in some places. When you're sitting trying to think of how to solve a riddle, this noise is VERY annoying. Likewise, there is a place in the game where you can challenge some NPC's to games of Whatever, but while you're playing, you can constantly hear one of them screaming "OPEN ME!!! O-P-E-N MEEEEEEE!!!". It's unrelenting. I really wish they had accounted for these things, but all in all I'd say I enjoyed it.
