👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑⠀⠀⠀

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Follow Third group
English: Crumbling from Crumbling Games. A rogue-like hack and slash for the whole family. Sounds a bit strange, but it's not. After the demo of Crumbling made a bumpy impression on me, to put it mildly, I still dared to give the full version a chance. Crumbling is really something special. The setting is cute, the story is well told and the controls are more than interesting. More on that later. We are in an old toy store and find a Crumbling there, which we can free from its blister packaging and place in a diorama. The actual game begins. The game is somewhat reminiscent of how children play with their action figures. We control the Crumbling freely in the scenario with the hand we used to pick it up in the store. In all directions. We fight against all kinds of animal opponents. It's really fun and works quite well in principle. In principle. Crumbling's controls, which already irritated me in the loading screen, take more than a little getting used to. At least for owners of the index controller. We move around the room by using the grip function to shimmy or turn. This already works in the loading screen and is sure to make people who don't have VR legs sway. This is also the only way we can move around in the toy store. No teleportation or free movement via stick possible. In the actual game, i.e. the battle scenes, it makes perfect sense to have the option of changing your position, and using the grip function to do this is also a good idea, but in the store it is rather irritating and pointless. What's more, with the index controllers you often accidentally reposition yourself in the room without meaning to. You have to be careful not to close your hands. Due to the controls, interactivity in the store is mostly limited to pressing the trigger to activate something. If you mistakenly use the grip function, you move around the room at the same time. The developers should think about changing this again. As usual for a rogue-like, there are plenty of upgrades for our Crumblings. Magic clouds to upgrade the abilities that we can collect, and comic pages that we get to continue the story. The comic book with our story is also in the store, as well as a shelf for our Crumblings, a workbench for coloring the figures and an old cash register, where we can spend collected coins on upgrades. The diorama with the four worlds is right next to it. Each world has its own enemies and mini-games and consists of cute dioramas with delightful details. The selection of enemies is pleasingly large, and each has its own attack patterns. It can quickly become confusing and the controls will once again be a blessing and a curse. Each world also always has a mini-game, I've only played the electric wire now, here I simply had to guide a metal ring over a bent wire, you know the drill. The metal eyelet even rotated into the right position automatically. Not very difficult. However, I can't recommend Crumbling without further ado, even though it's great fun and offers a lot of content with the upgrades. For me, as an index owner, the - in my opinion - nonsensical controls put a damper on my enjoyment of the game. It may be better for those with other controllers. For them: a fun and cute rogue-like adventure. 👀Crumble over to🎊 my curator page.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2 and 3
You can view my gameplay & early impressions here: https://youtu.be/e_J5IzAy8rk This is a cute, fun game that I believe is aimed for casual gamers. There's enough of a challenge here, but it hasn't been super difficult in the 2 chapters I completed. I believe there are 3 total chapters, along with 3 different characters (although I may be wrong). I haven't died yet and I have unlocked 2 classes in my 1.5 hours total of total gameplay. It's basically a third person action rogue-like where you control these cute round things with your motion controls. You can move them around via hand movement while pressing trigger or the face buttons to either do the main attack, a special attack, or dodge. You basically float them in space, but the doge is still useful if an enemy attack is imminent. So far I have played the knight which is your basic hack n slash action and I have unlocked the shaman, which has a charged attack and sets up totems with different effects. At the end of the chapter, after some runs in the area, you eventually reach the boss fight. You unlock new buffs & upgrade them as you go along. You also get temporary increases to your abilities or health. It's a nice game loop. What makes it unique is the comic-book art style & the fact that you get new comic book pages which further the story. It's easy to get into & there's just enough of a challenge to keep it from getting stale. Plus the different enemies & boss fights keep it interesting, along with trying out the different characters (knight, shaman, or blaster). Game is running on the Unity Engine. On my RTX 3080, I was getting a steady 90 fps. I did not experience any serious issues or bugs. The game is nice for what it is. I think $20 may be a bit too much if the game's content is limited to those 3 chapters and 3 classes I mentioned (I'm not 100% sure on that). If you're a casual gamer or you're looking for a game that is suitable for the whole family, I think you may enjoy this game more than I did. Rate 6.5/10. It's alright for what it is.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program.
First impression: sweet but with depth. The battle system is new, different... "spatial"? I haven't unlocked everything yet, but some of the enemies and special abilities surprised me. I think there's a lot of potential in this action figure-melee combat. After the first few rounds, I lost myself in the toy shop. Finally a toy shop where you can touch everything. The game is full of cute little ideas and attention to detail. I'm really looking forward to seeing how the battles and my little Crumbling develop. For everyone who takes action figures out of the box to play with them. And for those who would never do it IRL.
This game is a good childhood game to play in your vr! I made a live-stream with my friend titan to have some fun. it really cracked me up with some silly jokes too! im glad you made this thrilling action game crumblings! https://www.youtube.com/live/M2iJU4FcWQ0?si=bAbsKc_2KMymMTPf go to 41:48 for a hilarious milk joke :] it really caught titan and i off-guard! do recommend to play it for yourself.
This is an adorable game and the graphics are so good! I really enjoyed exploring the toy store and diving into the landscapes and challenges. Truly a fun game for all ages! I played the demo.
Super fun and unique gameplay packed into some adorable visuals.
Description

Histoire :

9/10
.
Conclusion :
I hope this game gets the recognition it deserves eventually. It's such an underrated gem on Steam. How do more people not know about this?! It is the cutest, most polished little indie game you can play. The narration and toy store are amazing, while the little fights are frantic and fun. It also has some good humor from the worm in spots. haha. I play it on my PSVR 2 as I am a new PC convert, it worked perfectly fine.
I haven't put much time into Crumbling yet, but even with that, I can really tell how much love went into making this game. Which made me even more sad seeing only eight steam reviews. The action figure/toy store concept is very cool, and the 3rd person control surprisingly worked well in VR. Though it would be nice to see some gameplay options for the camera in the future, if the devs decide to pick development back up that is. Combat feels satisfying, with a good mix of timing your attacks, dodging enemy attacks, and learning enemy patterns instead of just wildly swinging around (though that can be a viable strategy as you'll find out). It's easy to learn but feels like there's enough depth there to keep you improving with each run. That said the story telling and voice acting just bring the whole thing to an entire new level. It takes a well made polished game and gives it life and excitement. Reading the story, then fighting through levels looking for the next page. All while still wondering what could possibly be next. It all just feels way too premium and made with care to not have the player base to back it up. This should easily be an Overwhelmingly Positive game and is deserving of it rightfully. Moving onto my category ranking. Gameplay: 9.5/10 - Fun mechanics that are easy to understand and might feel simple over time. But the changing of enemies and boss fights keeps you learning new attack patterns and strategies to feel just satisfying enough. Really surprised me it would work well the way it did. VR Implementation: 9/10 - The action figure concept translates surprisingly well into VR. The camera can be a little rough around the edges. Personally I found the drag to move to be my personal favorite and much smoother than the joysticks. Mainly I would like to see a VR Character Body. This would make walking around the store and maneuvering much easier. Making it really seem like your shopping for action figures etc... Art Style & Presentation: 10/10 - The comic book aesthetic and toy world design are full of charm. It feels like a Middle School project brought to life in front of my eyes. The game leans into its own art so well. Not being too serious about things really ties everything together so well. For instance the cow with the utter attack. It really is a masterpiece in this category. Sound & Atmosphere: 10/10 - The voice acting is top notch, easily AAA quality. The sounds of everything you do, button clicks, attacks, dodges, buying something from the register. They all just work together and nothing feels out of place. It matches the art style and keeps things light hearted, but at the same time can turn dark when a boss appears, or a plot twist in the story happens. Passion: 10/10 - You can genuinely feel the amount of care that went into this project. So I'm not going to say much more here. Go play it for yourself and get back to me. Overall: 9.7/10 Again, I haven't finished everything the game has to offer, but it gave me an amazing first impression, I don't think I've ever written a review this long or thought out. Crumbling is creative, polished, and has a ton of heart behind it. I really suggest you try out the game for yourself and come back to give an honest review, because honestly this game is probably the biggest hidden gem on the entire platform.
