Alicia Quartermain 2: The Stone of Fate is a casual resource/time management strategy game similair to 12 Labours of Hercules. Alicia Quartermain is a treasure/artifact hunter and travels to various lands. At the start of each level, you have 1-3 workers that you direct to do various things ranging from collecting resourses to constructing and upgrading buildings or gold mines. Alicia explodes carts and defuses bombs that are in the way. Jetdogs has the genre down to perfection and makes the best time management games! Overall it's a very enjoyable time management game. If you're a fan of the genre you should pick it up.
Short version: 81%
While Alicia Quatermain 2 is a simplified version of its predecessor, the excellent level design elevates it to a must-have status if you enjoy casual time management games.
Long version:
On the surface, Alicia Quatermain 2: The Stone of Fate retains many core elements of the first game: the small workforce (1-3 labourers), three resource and two production facility types all make a return here. However, unlike in Secrets of the Lost Treasures, there is no automation; we need to click more to achieve the same results. Sure, the gameplay is tighter this way, yet it feels like going back years of advancement in resource manager mechanics. Similarly, we have a woeful lack of helper character types, who only appear on a handful of stages, leaving us with low activity variety. Stone of Fate earns its high score with the level design. As we are used to by this developer, we get five groups of 10+1 stages, each with its own distinct visual and level layout style. They feel more refined and play-tested to the point where they can be equally fun on easy and normal difficulties, or incredibly strategic and challenging on hard. Therefore, if you like these kinds of games, The Stone of Fate should be one of the most fun you can have in your library.
Alicia Quatermain 2: The Stone of Fate
A very pleasant casual time management game for the fans of Hercules game series. Little bit more difficult, so it requires concentration, but still relaxing. I love playing games like this in between long and big rpgs and action games. Dear Steam, I understand that you want to improve the quality of games in your app, but implementing "Profile Features Limited" hasn't been a good idea. Jetdogs Studios produced a lot of popular games and still isn't a trustworthy developer? Blocking steam cards and achievements for some games doesn't encourage to buy them!
A clear the road time management game with 50 levels to play. It is a bit harder than the first game in the series but still pretty easy (at least on normal) to beat. While the store page doesn't claim to have Linux support when trying to download the game on Linux it just downloads an empty folder, but you can force Steam to use Proton instead and then it works perfectly fine (tested on 7.0-1).
'12 Labours of Hercules'
INSTALLING NOTHING
Alicia Quatermain 2: The Stone of Fate is a decent follow-up to the first game, though it falls short in several key areas. While the game maintains the same charming art style and level design, it’s hard not to notice the absence of quality-of-life features that were present in the original. One of the main drawbacks is the removal of features that made the first game more enjoyable. These omissions make gameplay feel more cumbersome and less fluid. Additionally, Alicia Quatermain 2 lacks the polish and user-friendly mechanics found in similar games like Hercules. The story and characters are still entertaining, but the overall experience is marred by the lack of conveniences. As a result, my time with the game was not as positive as I had hoped. Fans of the first game or those new to the series might still find some enjoyment here, but it's hard to overlook the areas where Alicia Quatermain 2 could have been improved.
This Alicia Quatermain #2 game is just more of the same, with one very little difference in how you unlock improvements for "the room" (was Alicia's office in game #1, it is another kind of room in this one). Expect the same music tracks, the same visuals, the same cut-scene style... everything is the same, apart from that mechanic regarding the "room improvements" and of course the story in itself. So, don't expect any improvement, this is exactly like #1. I still recommend it because I like their formula. It is working nicely. Good short game for achievers too.
Jogo simples e divertido. É dificil conseguir as três estrelas nas fases, precisa seguir a estratégia do desenvolvedor.
