This game seemed cool so I gave it a try but the interactivity with Lucky is still pretty low, and this game plays like a flatscreen platformer. I kinda wish this game took advantage of the fact it's in VR and you can do alot more stuff with your hands like freezing enemies with them or finding secrets! Also when you fall off you die instantly, I know it's supposed to be like super mario bros but I've played Pac Man and the Ghostly adventures 2 which makes falling off less punishing by only removing 1 heart instead of a whole life, or maybe make us be able to save lucky from drowning or falling. In verdict the game is mid in my opinion.
I will leave this cat here, so that everybody who passes by can pet it and give it a thumbs up and awards /> フ | _ _ l /` ミ_xノ / | / ヽ ノ │ | | | / ̄| | | | | ( ̄ヽ__ヽ_)__) \二つ
sorry ( Now remastered for modern VR headsets! ) not realy a remaster if you only use a updated a character model from super luckys tale and there is a visual downgrade compared to the oculus version (not mutch) for me its not a problem i realy love Luck`s tale for me one of the best vr games there is en the best 3d platformer its a masterpeace i only bought the game to support Playful Corp im glade the is a steam version of the game for all the vr players thad dont have a oculus heatset or use revive so if you like 3D-platformers and have VR leg`s this is a Must Have
Delightful platformer, in the traditions of the best ones. By which I mean: - Vibrant, colorful world with great character and enemy design - Nice upbeat music - Water level with slightly weird physics - Some surprisingly gnarly character deaths - Just fun to play
I played through the primary game once and didn't feel like I wanted to do any extras like extra prize hunting or going for speed. Played on a Rift S, 6700xt, r7-3700x, 32gb ram. It's a fairly basic platformer with just a couple infuriating moments where timing was important. There was certainly a pile of fox carcasses feeding fish in the bottom of the last non-boss level. Otherwise controls were good. I was able to no-hit the final boss on the first encounter. I'm pretty good with motion sickness. It took me a minute to adjust to the automatically panning camera, but not bad after that. If you're sensitive to sideways motion, this will probably trigger you. VR doesn't make a huge impact in the game, there's a couple neat parts where looking around is required. The final Boss, however, made great use. The Rift S doesn't have a huge FOV, so I had to keep turning my head to check for incoming attacks and lining up shots. Personally, I would LOVE more of these 3rd person style games (also like Moss) instead of the myriad of first person VR. I know I'm in the minority there.
In Lucky's Tale VR the camera moves on its own with no way to change this behaviour. Moving the player's perspective without physically moving the player creates a disconnect between senses and therefore often causes motion sickness. Since it's a VR game I assumed they would have a basic accessibility feature for a different way to move the camera, but sadly this is not the case. Therefore it's unplayable for me.
Enjoyable. I wanted to play more. Refreshing to see this sort of thing in VR. Not Mario, but close enough to give me those kicks.
One of those games I kinda wish steam allowed for a middle ground between yes and no. Just a "meh". But I'm leaning more no with this one. It's just an incredibly generic platformer with the singular gimmick of a VR camera. That's all it does with the VR and that's disappointing. Could of had the player able to interact with things in the game world like move sliding platforms or pull out-of-reach levers, stun enemies, block projectiles, anything... Mario galaxy managed to pull off this concept of the player being able to interact with the game world independent of the character nearly 10 years earlier. Honestly how did they not do this sort of stuff? The player here is just a pair of gloves that can kindof pet or boop Lucky but not really cus Lucky's only interaction with the hands is that his head is awkwardly pushed around by them, and he does a little animation and sometimes says hi whenever they're in his vicinity. Basically just a game for kids. And I say that as someone who greatly enjoys most of the iconic colorful mascot platformers from the n64-ps2 era that this clearly takes a lot of inspiration from, and thinks they have a lot to offer people of all ages... Mario, Sonic, Spyro, Crash, Ratchet&Clank, Jack&Daxter, even Gex for those that remember Gex exists. This just has none of the charm or substance of any of those. It feels like they took the very bare essentials of what constitutes a platformer, slapped a cute generic fox character on it, and made it a very basic proof of concept for a 3rd person vr platformer. I'd wager most teens to adults who've actually played any of those, or just other platformers in general, would find this horridly dull after the novelty of being able to physically look around wears off in the first 10 minutes. But for a small child you've just handed a piece of technology they're definitely too young to be allowed to use, this would be one of the few vr games actually suitable for them. 20$ is also just excessively overpriced for how little there is here, and for it being a 10 year old game.
