I've been a fan of both KEMCO and Rideon, Inc. for quite some time, so I was very eager to get my hands on and check out Cross Tails. While I have yet to spend a tremendous amount of time with Cross Tails just yet, it has been a good time. You get a choice at the very beginning of who's tale you wish to follow and you will get to experience things from their point of view. It has solid tactical, turn-based combat, and an interest story thus far and I can't wait to play more. So, if you are a fan of SRPGs and, like me, you are constantly looking for more to play and enjoy, Cross Tails is a fantastic edition.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0/day in the week to Jul 30 → 0/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Cross Tails, is a nice and cute strategy game. You have 2 stories to play, both of which have a normal route and a "True Route" which serves as a sort of New Game+ The game is never too challenging, but also never too easy, allowing you to choose how you play, the difficulty options also help adjust it to your playstyle. If you are only interested in the story, the game has a Autobattle-Mode which *can* solve most chapters for you but will struggle in the final boss fight. After Achieving every Achievment, I can say that although it was a decent length journey, it was a pretty fun one.
Honestly. The most well-made tactical rpg that I've played. I keep playing other games of the same genre (Fire Emblem, etc) and saying "Man. I wish that this had the quality of life features and settings that cross tails does."
It's a good game. Definitely an improvement on the "Mercenaries" series in just about all respects. I followed it for a while, and recommend it based on the overall gameplay- the combat is deep, allowing for rich builds and tactics, thanks to a 3-way class system and an equipment modification system. The campaign has a branch, and to get the best ending you need to replay it. I haven't done so (yet, at least), but might, some day. There's set story battles which tend to add another "skirmish" style battle, each of which can be played for rewards or grinding purposes. Where the game is most lacking is the story, particularly the dialogue. "Wanna" and "gonna" sound weird coming from the mouths of clan chiefs. Some of the dialogue is just incorrect, although it's usually clear what they wanted the meaning to be, based on the context. I also think the whole "furry" thing was a miss. It didn't add anything to the story to have the characters be animalistic- some of them could pass as human. The issue is that it certainly doesn't have enough fan-service to offer the furry crowd, and those that are more hesitant of furry adjacent content probably gave it a pass after a surface glance. Finally- the price. The launch price was too high, and I don't think it gained the exposure it might've deserved. Certainly better sales might have motivated the devs to put more effort into the translation, because the core combat itself really is solid.
I wanted to really try this game but the controls are terrible. no mouse support. no arrow key usage. movement on my controller is really terrible and i use a 360. So if i can't move around much or have to work really hard just to play a game made for pc. Yeah i'm going to lose interest.
I just finished 100%ing the game on both male and female routes as of writing this review. Gameplay-wise and feel-wise, this is the closest it's ever come to the general feel of Final Fantasy Tactics, for me. This is the kind of feeling I've been hunting for in the past 25 years or more. As I said before, there are two routes with completely different stories taking place in the two rivalling countries: Ranverfurt (doggos) and Hidiq (cattos). The two stories were very well implemented and feels genuinely different; in fact, don't go in thinking they tie into eachother because they are pretty separate. It basically paints whatever side you pick as the Hero, the Knight in Shining Armor, and the other side as passively benefiting. The character customization is exceptionally deep, with a dozen or more classes that build off of eachother, and you can equip two at any given time along with 6 passives. Many of the classes feel like they fit perfectly together, and they feel very intentionally designed for you to express yourself in whatever way you want. Just like Final Fantasy Tactics. Additionally, a deep enough understanding of the system also allows you to completely DEMOLISH the game balance, also like Final Fantasy Tactics. Anyways, I'll end off with the two cons: The story is mid, they did a decent job, but the translation is terrible and sometimes borderline Engrish/unintelligible. As someone who plays a lot of machine translated stuff, as is the way of a modern-day JRPG fan, I could understand it pretty well. I don't expect the same of others, though. The second thing I really didn't like was the implementation of heroes. Many of them are, frankly, objectively worse than generic units, and that was very unfortunate. I like to use generics more anyways, but on my first run, I like the feel of heroes completely blazing through obstacles. A sort of trainer wheels, if you will. I ended up unintentionally gimping myself by using most heroes instead. Especially in NG+, where you can select a new side for each route (making a total of four routes, and this isn't spoilers, they tell you this directly), the generics are EXCEPTIONALLY powerful and feel more like heroes than even the main characters.
Great Game! Would love more content.
