«Crisis of the Middle Ages»
От собратьев по движку и жанру «Crisis of the Middle Ages» отличают:

Girl that does not want to get married (or be defined by that) and wants to fight and cast spells and use her smarts: CHECKED. Guardsman who does not want to fight but loves smelling tulips : Checked Mage, who did nothing wrong: Checked Healer, who is actually a troll: Checked Game is well playable, but what makes this RPGMaker game outstanding: + Autosave ! (yipeee, so many games do NOT have this) + fast pace / running (this is not so uncommon, but it is deeply missed, if not implemented) + unique magic system (you steal magic spells from enemies) - Engineering (+ detecting enemy's weakness skill) + manually pre-made combat scenes (and funny too) + unique monsters + much longer equipment list I like this game a lot, and for some hard-core gamers, the major let-down could be the difficulty (it is not very challenging). I am ok with the set difficulty, as I am not pushed to re-load and re-try x-times every random battle. I am happy I can fully focus on exploring, on the story, and the fun.
RPG Maker strikes again! Crisis of the Middle Ages is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction. As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development. Crisis of The Middle Ages is particularly badly made, while some effort went into filling out the RPG Maker templates, that doesn't translate to any kind of meaningful quality. There's a comedy subtheme to the game, and I must admit, there is some comedy here... the idea that someone genuinely thought it would be okay to charge money for this RPG Maker asset flip garbage. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected in the general public reception. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game only ever reached a peak player count of only three players. This is a pitiful enough number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam, the overwhelming lack of interest in the game is remarkable, but also to be expected. This complete and utter rejection of the game from gamers should be a keen information point for anyone considering buying shovelware like this. Gamers just didn't take this seriously, and for good reason. Crisis of the Middle Ages is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
I received the key the night of release & Steam had some issues. The developer was outstanding in helping me troubleshoot & getting the game to work correctly (turns out there was an issue on the backend of Steam). So right off the bat, we have high marks for great developer interaction. Now for the game. Read the "About this Game". You get exactly what is written. It's a funny & comical RPG that doesn't take itself too seriously. Very fun to play, and easy to get into. Originally a mobile game, it was adapted well to life on the PC. The story is your somewhat-typical "legendary heroes" line, but with some twists & turns. Battles aren't always predictable & sometimes the best thing you can do is toss a can of beans into the enemies (trust me on this, it is quite the experience!) The soundtrack fits the game and the Reverse Engineering mechanic is a nice play on the scholar/blue mage character type. I found myself laughing and getting absorbed in the quirks of the story. The gameplay is steady and offers a fairly digestible combat system that someone of any experience level can get into. Battles can be a mix of easy to "you ran into your worse nightmare". Think outside the box in this game and you will be rewarded. If there is anything that might get to some people: text can overflow out of the menus and dialogue boxes, the menuing might feel clunky to some (unless you're used to NES/SNES JRPGs) and there are some typos (the dev actually spent time in my stream jotting down where the ones I found were to correct them) in weird places, and perhaps the lack of controller support (the keyboard controls are easy to remap though and you can make a comfortable layout). Overall, for $1.99 USD (on sale at the time I'm writing this for $1.19) it is a great buy and you will most certainly get your money's worth (heck, you can't even get a cup of coffee for this price sometimes). Had I saw someone stream this, I'd have bought it for sure. If you are a fan of RPG/JRPG games, retro-style games and cheeky humor then you'll enjoy this. The language is suitable for most ages (I haven't seen all the dialogues yet, but I'm thinking the dev kept the text G-rated or PG-rated throughout). And thanks to the item system, there will be replayability in the game just to go back and try that one item you didn't try before.
Only have played this game a bit so far, but I have been impressed with it's simple, yet elegant design - easy to pick up and play, and the dialogue is amazingly cheesy and comedic. There is a big classic FF feel to the game, and the controls reflect as such. The music choice is pleasant to the ears, and the banter that goes on between monsters - which seem to be typical 9-5'ers, keep it fresh. I can tell this was a huge labor of love, and having the developer stop by my Twitch channel while I was playing it was amazing, getting to pick her brain a bit and find out what went into this game. Overall, a solid little game that I highly recommend. Hope to see more like this in the future!
this game was super relaxing and i have enjoyed playing this the devs are super friendly and helpful i highly recommend that everyone check out this game
Other then the game not working when i got the key it was fixed very fast. other then that the game is what you would expect for an OLD school RPG but with humor in it that will make you laugh at every turn.! I may only have a little over and hour and loving every mind of it. And will definitely be finishing it.
