About
Milon the Tempest, is a witch-hunter on a mission to take down a conspiracy of wizards. As the Left Hand of the King, he is responsible for doing the work that Knights and Emissaries of the King cannot be associated with.
He is leading the Crimson Capes, a guild of witch-hunters taking on missions throughout the kingdom of Amvros. During the events of the story you will discover that there are more sinister powers at play and you will come to understand the true meaning of power.
You can take control of any hero you want, at all times. Discover each unique fighting style and skill tree. Join in the asymmetrical multiplayer and hunt in online co-op with other Capes, or invade a hunt as a Deathblade.
Fight using moves and guards based on realistic fighting techniques. Perform feints, thrusts, cuts and spinning moves to open up your enemies for a fatal hit.
Each hero has magical abilities to compliment their fighting style. You can harness the winds and command thunder, raise flames or call upon darkness to engulf you. As you gain more experience you can expand on your physical and magical skills.
Take the heads of your opponents, bring them down to their knees for a finishing blow, or spill their insides out. Deliver the Law of the King and make an example out of your enemies.
Raid old ruins and magic towers, climb down dark caverns and explore mystical forests. Magical artifacts are waiting to be discovered in every corner of the world, which you can explore at your own pace and in any order you like.

Crimson Capes is done. Here is my review: Personally, I especially loved the combat in this game. It is slow and methodical. As you defeat enemies you gain experience points which you can then use to buy items from merchants across the world and use those same experience points to unlock new abilities. You have light attacks, heavy attacks and can block/deflect as well as dodge incoming physical attacks. As you progress the game, you unlock more playable characters from your guild, the Crimson Capes. Each one of the characters have special composite attacks. These attacks use a special power meter. They also have combat disciplines that are much more powerful than composite attacks and each one of the heroes have a special move that consumes the entire power meters to use. The game plays much like a 2-D souls-like game. I do not think this is a metroidvania because you do not learn or unlock any specific skill to progress to other areas. In fact, the world is very much open from the start. You can pretty much traverse to any area of the game right from the beginning. There is one or two areas only accessible by obtaining a special item from a boss or using a specific character's ultra-ability to progress. The artwork is beautiful and though the music of the game is very simple, it fits nicely for the theme of the game. I enjoyed the "in-combat" music the most. Checkpoints are flowerbeds. Once activated, they allow you to rest, access the world map, change your guild character and learn new skills. The map is hand-drawn, and it is quite beautiful. The entire aesthetic of the game is amazing. The game is very short, but it is quite compact and full of enemies, which there is a great variety of them. There are also many, many bosses. Some much tougher than others and require some thinking on how to approach them. There are, if I recall correctly, four (4) distinct Hunts, which are separate, procedurally generated areas that contain enemies and traps, with one boss at the end rewarding you with a special item. Multiplayer is also a thing in this game. Much like souls-borne games, you can join a host to co-op or invade another player for PvP. My only complaints about the game are the inability of being able to see the map at any time as you can only access it while resting at a flowerbed and not being able to place any custom marks on it whatsoever. Consumables are quite handy. There are scarce but very cheap to buy from merchants. Overall, this game impressed me. I don't even remember where I saw it, but it was on my wishlist and when it went on sale a few days ago, I had to buy it. If you enjoy slow and methodical combat and love a good 2-D game with fantastic bosses, this game is for you. My final score for Crimson Capes is 8.5/10
Neat lil game, played it all the way through, found multiple optional bosses. It's definitely a lil jank, but the demo will give you an exact idea of what you're signing up for, surprisingly competent and flowing combat. A surprisingly large map and pool of items aswell.
Co-op is buggy in some areas, but not enough to hinder enjoyment. Bring a friend or three. Really good animations for a pixelated sidescroller, apperently they were mocapped similarly to classic mk games, I think. I also liked the background layers, making the game feel way larger than it already is. Big Passion project over here, I strongly reccomend it.
Everything feels really fluid, which is important in a game that relies so much on reactions and timing. It's a Soulsly Metroidvania with great combat and really fantastic art. Bog thumbs up, especially at its price.
I'd just like to say, that the game has really good premise, soulsy combat and I'd recommend it. It just didn't clicked with me. Maybe some other time.
I refuse to believe people are sleeping on this hidden gem. Great art-style, amazing combat, great music (tho it could use more tracks). Its visceral, edgy and unique. It's a light metroidvania. It focuses a lot more on combat than exploration, but you do have to traverse the entire map to finish it (get that one thing from that one boss so you can progress to the next area etc). Combat is SUPERB. It's like a 2d sekiro type of combat. Your parry is your lifeline and chaining your attacks with precises button presses make a lot of difference. You also have an ultimate and 4 stances you can use. Some are defensive and other offensive. Each has a certain effect, like fainting an attack or auto-blocking, dodging back/front and pressing your attacks results in different finishers from those stances. The game also has 4 characters to chose from (bastardsword, greatsword, one handed sword and dual wield daggers), and their play style is quite different and each has their own stances and upgrades. Enemies are varied (or at least their move set is) and bosses are really fun to beat. The game isn't too hard either, you just need to figure out how to space your attacks for certain bosses. You have items to equip as well, to make a build fit for you and consumables to throw at enemies. It even has co-op, which is crazy. A lot to love here for sure. They did an amazing job making this, you feel/see it in every animation. HIGHLY recommended if you enjoy skill-based action games. Hope to see more from this dev, a sequel would be amazing. Well done.
Strange game but there is something to it)
it's ok, i've played worse
Very nice game, cool pixelart animations. If you like pixel art and RPG-Lite then you will probably like the game.
