it's not payday 2 but it's better than 3, if you want a break from payday with a goofy twist i would recommend this game

Before anything, if you want to experience the main story, you need to start the roguelite campaign mode. That’s where the actual progression and narrative unfold. It’s not separated like a traditional linear campaign — the story is built directly into that system. I finished the main story of Crime Boss: Rockay City, and honestly, the game is phenomenal. I don’t see many people comparing it to Mafia III, but while playing, I personally felt a similar vibe — not because they’re identical, but because both games focus on building a criminal empire and slowly taking control of the city. In both games you: Take over territory step by step Grow in power and influence Feel that sense of becoming the dominant force in the city But the execution is different. Mafia III is more fixed in its structure, almost like you’re moving through a crime documentary-style revenge story. Crime Boss, on the other hand, delivers its narrative through a roguelite structure. The story is genuinely good. It presents a strong rise-to-power arc with memorable characters and stylish cutscenes. It may not aim for the same heavy tone as Mafia III, but it absolutely holds its own. What makes it stand out is how dynamic it feels. The crew management, territory control, and the way each run can unfold differently make it more reactive to your decisions instead of strictly scripted. Now about the cinematics — I actually think they’re great. The acting, camera work, and presentation are strong. The only real issue I noticed is that sometimes the dialogue has a delay sometimes is medium and sometimes is big, which can break immersion moments. Without those delays, the cutscenes would feel even smoother. Overall, Crime Boss isn’t copying Mafia III. It taps into a similar rise-to-power experience, but executes it in a more arcade, replayable, and system-driven way. For me, it absolutely works.
