I wanted to like Goobies more than I did, but it feels too barebones right now. The gameplay is smooth for the most part, though the momentum-based character felt awkward to use. The bigger issue is repetition. Maps and enemies are extremely basic, and since runs are endless, there’s no satisfying conclusion to them. After a few runs, it all starts to feel the same. There is some build variety, and I liked how weapon upgrades evolve into stronger versions with added traits instead of just boosting stats. But because everything is unlocked from the start and there’s no real limit on what you can stack, most runs ended up looking very similar anyway. Progression feels very slow and not especially rewarding. It often didn’t feel like I was working toward anything meaningful, which is a major problem for a game built around repeated runs. The visuals are probably the strongest part. The goofy style gives the game some charm. But once the screen fills up in the mid and late game, it becomes cluttered and hard to read, and I even had performance issues because of it. There’s an alright core here, but it needs much more content, balance, and a better progression loop. As it stands, I can’t recommend it unless you get it free or very cheap and just want a few hours with a simple survivor-like.
Very fun and hectic game that doesn't need too much brain function to play. AKA run in circle and hope for good skills.
Goob it up man.
Survivals like with its own unique charm. The artifact system is quite similar to that of Risk of rain 2, and I enjoyed that a lot. Allows you to change your gameplay entirely. For 6 bucks (way cheaper on sale) you definitely get what you pay for. The sound and bass is also incredibly satisfying. Huge + for whoever did the sound design! If you enjoy survival-esque games, don't doubt, grab it and smash some slimy bois!
