Great remake of 3 fun classic games. Perfect for Steam Deck.
My only experience with Crash Bandicoot was playing the first few levels of the first game on my cousin's PS1 ages ago, and playing a recreation of some of the levels in a Left 4 Dead 2 workshop map (highly recommend, btw) Ever since then, I always wanted to give the actual game(s) a whole playthru, and this seemed the best way to do it. Firstly, something everyone should know, is these games are HARD. You'd think cute, quirky cartoonish graphics would mean an easy time. Nope! Thankfully, the games get less hard in each entry. So if you're finding the first game too tough, I recommend skipping to the second game. If that one is still too hard, then the third. (Tho I do recommend playing at least the first few levels of 1. Iconic levels.) The first game in particular is extremely difficult, almost to the point of frustration. (Road to Nowhere and High Road anyone? tip: use the ropes). It has a difficulty curve of a heart-rate monitor. Some levels are super easy, others are just randomly extremely difficult for no reason. The second and third games smooth that all out and have a much better slow increase in difficulty. That being said, I still managed to finish all 3 games (except for 100%'ing them. Insane respect for anyone who has achieved that) and I consider myself pretty average with platformers. I did read from people who played the originals that these versions are harder because of some wonky hitboxes. Not sure how accurate that is, but I wouldn't doubt it considering some BS deaths I had. The graphics are amazingly well done and extremely faithful to the originals. I adored seeing what little I experienced as a kid fully remade but still familiar. The gameplay is a mix of linear 3d platforming with some 2D levels. Smashing boxes along the way makes is extremely satisfying and weirdly fun. Each game is also pretty short. I'd say around 4-5 hours per game if you just do the levels and not go for 100%. I do think they're all the perfect length though. They never overstayed their welcome and it felt like a good amount of content. Overall, extremely fun platforming game with unique characters and gameplay I haven't really seen other platformers do. Definitely recommend if you want a challenging platforming game
Crash Bandicoot™ N. Sane Trilogy is a High Quality remaster of the original. It's Challenging, Faithful to the titles that came before, Packed with Improved Graphics and more Precise Controls, It has Significant Replayability, and It's just Wonderfully Designed. I personally loved seeing all the old levels I grew up playing from my childhood. You get a tremendous amount of bang for your buck with this title to say the least. This series has stood the test of time and this is the game to prove it. With it's vibrant color palate and it's nostalgic value who wouldn't want to play this? I would absolutely recommend The Crash Bandicoot™ N. Sane Trilogy.
Honestly, could have been a great remake, if not for those awful ice mechanics and sensitive hitboxes. Edges are slippery, some jumps are just too far, you get hit when you are not supposed to get hit. The boulder level in the first game took me so long to beat because of the fact that Crash is simply so slow, or because he was getting stuck on invisible obstacles. I am trying to enjoy my time while playing games, not break my desk punching it in desperate rage. Stay away.
as someone who has done everything in all three games (all platinum relics, all gems, and all colored gems, and of course, all steam achievements), I WOULD TOTALLY RECOMMEND BUYING THIS GAME!. It really is such a masterpiece of three games. yes, it may be rage inducing sometimes, but its still worth it. If you are considering getting a new platform to play, THIS should be your first pick.
Game has bad stutter/frame pacing out of the box. As per Reddit user Chun1i, turning off v-sync in-game and enabled fast sync in the Nvidia control panel for this game fixes the problem. Smooth motion now and looks excellent.
