Only being about to use keyboard isn't great, also found out that the kickstarter was suspended & read that this game company has a ton of shovelware on the nintendo eshop. The map is very limited & the actions for watering & harvesting are very slow. It was very tedious to do anything in the game. There's no sprint button or anyway to speed up when you're walking around. If you're going to get it just know that this doesn't seem like a complete game & buyer beware.
If you are looking for a deep farming sim packed with systems, upgrades, and NPC relationships, this is not that kind of game. But if what you want is a gentle little escape, Cottonville may be a surprisingly sweet way to unwind for sure! You run your own tiny shop (sadly, you can not decorate it… I know, tragic fr), plant crops, unlock adorable clothing blueprints, and turn your harvest into outfits to sell. It is repetitive, and there is not a ton of content, but the concept is charming and the art style is lovely! But yea, its not bad, but it is not perfect at all. I cant recommend it at full price, but on a good sale? it is a sweet little pastel-soft treat, and you really do not have to stress or think at all lol. Achievement-wise i am missing 3 of them, and they are a little grindy (normally i dont mind, but there is just not so much to do in the game after 3 hours ish, so it become a little boring)

I haven’t gotten very far but I’ll go ahead and leave a review for my fellow steam deck players. It runs perfectly on steam deck. It doesn’t have native controller support but it uses so few keys it’s very easy to just make a custom controller layout and everything runs like it has native controller support. If you’re hesitating because of lack of steam deck verification or controller support don’t worry. The gameplay is also fun so far. Very relaxing Edit: I’ve played enough to feel like I can speak to the gameplay now. The farming is very rudimentary if you go in expecting complicated farming mechanics you will be disappointed. The game doesn’t have seasons or anything and you have to farm each plot individually. It’s a bit slow. I wish you could hire NPCs to do the farming or at least till and water multiple plots at once. I like the gameplay loop especially running the shop, crafting items, dressing up the NPCs, that part of the game. I wish you could sprint. All in all the game itself is fun. Nothing revolutionary but pretty fun.
controls are trash, gameplay is too
Very cute and unique game. I love the art style. Things to do. 1. Plant Crops. 2. Make clothing from the crops you planted. 3. Sell clothing to customers in your shop to make money. 4. Go shop for more seeds and clothing patterns so that you can do it all over again tomorrow.
To anyone who wants to play with steamdeck you *can* but you will need to remap all the keys via the steamdeck controller menu. It took me 30 mins to get to something that felt decent. As far as the actual game: I really wanted to like this one. It looked cute. Was a farming game that focused on clothing rather than food crops. But i was just so bored playing it. Everything is painfully slow, which I could get over if the shop/crafting mechanics were addictive. They are not. You open your shop and people just teleport in. You interact with them, dress them up with some vague preferences and then you get money. That's it. I ran the shop for 2 days and knew I would never want to grind to learn the 100+ recipes in the game. It's not horrible, its just not for me. If you like: Slow pacing/actions Easy game play (like elementary school easy) No stakes Cute graphics Grinding Repetitive tasks then you will like this game. I think a young child would probably really like this sort of game. Adults, just know its a mindless sort of turn off your brain and play for an hour before bed type game.
This game feels like it should be an Early Access game. I'm on Day 30. It is relaxing and cute, but I feel like it is missing a lot of things that could make it great. I'm enjoying the idea that I believe they were going for, but it feels like it was stopped 1/4th the way through and needs to be finished. The Pro/Neutral/Con/Bugs list is in no particular order, just things I've noticed or come across. This will probably get updated once I finish the game or if something does get updated in it. Pros - It is cute and has a vibe going for it, I really love that for this. - I like that its not just buy fabric/colours make things but has some farming/collecting in it. - Creating the outfits is fun. - The shop aspect is simple and easy to follow. - It is very simple in how things work, which for a cozy/relaxing game is good. Neutral - I don't find the music annoying or needing to be turned off. - The character voices aren't terrible (they do need to be turned down). - I find that some of the colour splats (this is for telling what colours someone want for their clothes) are too similar and have a difficult telling pink from purple (it looks like light lavender in game) and orange from red. This could be fixed by simple making the splats more saturated in colour. - I feel like all the clothing should be in each of the 7 colours (purple/blue/green/orange/pink/red/yellow), due to the fact that there is only 7 colours. It can be as simple as just making it in that colour and not changing the whole clothing item, but I feel like finding things in Red and Orange specifically is super difficult. - I'm not sure how the customers requests are decided (I'm assuming it is random) but some of the requests aren't possible. An example would be how one person wanted an Diamond (fancy?) item in a specific fabric (can't remember off the top of my head) and in Orange/Red and so far those requirements haven't shown up. - It doesn't bother me that it seems like patterns are unlocked by what day you are on. Cons - It has Keyboard control only, it slightly has mouse controls to but in the most looses sense possible. You can't click anything, just highlight things then use spacebar/enter to select. I've tried with a PS4 controller and it doesn't work with it. - The farming (mainly watering) takes 2-3 in game minutes. It is sllloooowwww and the amount of space you get to farm in is small. It looks like there are some other 'plots' but so far you can't do anything with them. - The game feels empty, there is a lot of open space. The townfolks don't say anything important or need anything (so far). The only two townfolks that you ever need to interact with is the Shop Keeper (Maddie?) and the Seed Shop (I don't remember her name). One for patterns/cloth and the other seeds if you don't want to buy the cloth. - The days feel long. I can get everything planted/watered by ~12.30p (ingame), gather all the plants that have spawned for the day and head to the shop and buy everything I need for crafting. Then head home and do the 6-8 request per day you get and be done around 4.30-6p and have nothing to do for the rest of the day, expect go to bed for the next day to start. - Your inventory doesn't show you how many of one item you have while you're crafting. If you open up your Inventory (with I) it will tell you, but if you're crafting or dressing up someone there is no way to see how many of something you have. I find it frustrating that I have to back out to see how many of something I have then go back to the menu I was just in. This could be fixed by adding a number to the top corner(either side is fine by me) of the item. Bugs? I am not sure if these things are actually bugs, but they feel like them so I'm putting them here. - Sometimes when you water plants your person stands still but the action still happens. No watering can comes out. The action does happen, the plant gets watered but the movement doesn't happen. It also happens when you use the shovel as well. - You cannot unequip items from your person without undoing all the changes you made. I find this annoying. - You can open the Map/Inventory with specific keys (M/I) but to close them you have to hit Esc and not the same key again. I feel like if there are some updates it would be amazing, but if nothing happens and it stays as-is I find it really hard to recommend. If you feel the urge to get it, then get it when its 90% off ($1.09 USD) and play it in spurts, like maybe 30-60minutes at a time so it doesn't get too boring.
It's a very shallow game, once you've played a few in-game days you've played the whole game. I'd say it's okay for a game worth $5 or less, but not worth it at full price.
i loved and enjoyed playing it.... spent 80 mins on it none stop, thought it was giga cute.... i save, close game, come back few hours later to everything completely gone! even my eyes turned ghost white, i lost all my prog and i'm so mad rn!
Love the concept of the game and the art style is super cute, but I cannot recommend this game in its current state. There is zero controller support which makes it unplayable on handheld consoles. I’m really hoping they fix this :(
