This game is like micro machines but without the fun part. It's as barebones as you can imagine, there are no powerups or weapons, basically no vehicle variety, only 18 tracks, dumb ai and the game constantly crashes. Sure, it supports local split-screen multiplayer, has different gamemodes and costs close to nothing, that's not enough to justify it's just plain garbage.
Cars can fall over, but they keep "gliding" to the side after a turn, so car handling physics are quite bad. Game doesn't have pause (or at least it doesn't work for me), so after doing one time trial I had to ALT-F4 and my time wasn't saved. Game revolves around keeping your car on the screen, so camera movement dictates the tempo of the game.
It's a recommendation, but it's a cautious one. For the low price of the game (and frequent sales pushing it even lower) it's a pretty worthwhile purchase for people looking for games in the vibe of Micro Machines. I have a couple of gripes with it: There were a couple bugs for me that blocked a race from continuing a few times. The main menu screen also weirdly ran really badly, with choppy framerate. (The races themselves were smooth and without problems though.) The physics engine can also be a bit awkward when your car gets some air. The regular car handling feels good, but if one or two of your wheels leaves the ground, it can get unpredictable. And gameplay-wise, it was a bit annoying after a while that it's basically you vs everyone instead of everyone vs everyone. Since the NPCs acted as a group and got scored collectively, they have a big advantage over you and it made some of the later races a bit frustrating for me. You all spawn in one tight bundle as well, and it's really easy to get shoved off the racetrack by one NPC while another keeps racing forward, winning them a collective point. I think that frustration can be alleviated when you play through the campaign in multiplayer. Aside from that though, I mostly enjoyed this game. The racetracks are pretty fun and when it works, it's quite satisfying to beat the enemy drivers. I'm a sucker for racing games set in everyday locations anyway and these had some neat ideas of how to use those environments. Nothing groundbreaking, but clearly made with passion. For the low price, I think this is totally worth a shot. The singleplayer campaign is not too long anyway. I'd love to see the devs work on a sequel and improve on their idea.
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.

Tinker Racers is a compact but inventive arcade racing game that reimagines competition through the lens of playful chaos rather than strict speed mastery. Instead of traditional lap-based circuits and finish-line pressure, the game revolves around a clever survival-oriented rule: racers must stay within the camera’s view to remain in the race. This simple twist fundamentally reshapes how races feel, transforming them into frantic scrambles where positioning, awareness, and recovery matter just as much as raw acceleration. The result is an experience that feels closer to a party game than a conventional racer, emphasizing moment-to-moment excitement over technical precision. The presentation immediately establishes the game’s charm. Players control tiny toy-like vehicles racing across oversized everyday environments, such as desks, bedrooms, kitchens, and office spaces, where ordinary objects become towering obstacles. Pens, books, chairs, and household clutter function as hazards that can abruptly flip, slow, or destroy a car if approached carelessly. This exaggerated sense of scale taps into a nostalgic fantasy of toy cars racing across tabletops, and it gives each track a clear visual identity. While the art style is simple, it is cohesive and effective, communicating the game’s playful tone without unnecessary visual noise. Gameplay is deliberately accessible, with straightforward controls that allow players to jump in almost immediately. Steering, boosting, and avoiding hazards are easy to understand, but races quickly become intense as the camera relentlessly pushes forward. Falling behind is dangerous, as slipping out of view leads to damage and eventual elimination. This creates a constant sense of urgency that keeps races dynamic, even on familiar tracks. Collisions with other players and environmental obstacles add an unpredictable element, often turning a clean lead into sudden disaster in seconds. This volatility is central to the game’s appeal, especially when played with others. Tinker Racers truly shines in local multiplayer, where up to four players can compete on a single screen. In this setting, the game becomes loud, frantic, and highly social, with frequent reversals of fortune and plenty of opportunities for playful sabotage. Winning often feels less about dominance and more about adaptability and timing, which helps keep matches fun even for players of varying skill levels. While the game does offer solo play and AI opponents, these modes primarily serve as a way to learn tracks and mechanics rather than as a long-term single-player experience. The variety of modes and tracks provides enough content to keep sessions engaging, though the overall scope remains intentionally modest. There is limited vehicle customization and no deep progression system, which means long-term motivation depends largely on replaying races for fun rather than unlocking new systems. Over extended play, some repetition can set in, particularly for solo players, as the mechanics do not evolve dramatically. However, this simplicity also reinforces the game’s identity as a pick-up-and-play title rather than a deep competitive racer. From a technical standpoint, the game is stable and responsive, though controls can feel slightly rigid compared to larger racing games. This rigidity is rarely game-breaking, but it does require players to adjust their expectations and embrace the game’s arcade-like handling. Audio design supports the action with energetic music and effects that enhance the sense of chaos, though the soundtrack may feel repetitive during longer sessions. Overall, Tinker Racers succeeds by committing fully to its concept. It is not trying to compete with simulation racers or content-heavy arcade franchises, but instead offers a focused, playful experience built around shared fun and constant momentum. Its imaginative environments, survival-based racing twist, and strong local multiplayer make it especially appealing for couch gaming sessions and casual competition. While it may lack the depth to sustain prolonged solo play, it excels as a lighthearted, energetic racing game that prioritizes laughter, tension, and unpredictability over complexity. Rating: 7/10
