Awesome game! Not as good as the first one but pretty close! I preferred the battle stamp mechanic from the first game over the creepy treat card mechanics in this one. Still awesome overall! if you like the first game or any other doubled fine production games you should definitely give this one a playthrough!

Costume Quest 2 introduces a bizarre dystopian future where the concept of a mad dentist provides a refreshing narrative departure from traditional holiday themes. Players will immediately notice that dialogue boxes now wait for user input, successfully eliminating the frantic struggle to read text before it vanishes from the screen. Navigating the world feels significantly more fluid this time around thanks to the inclusion of a dedicated sprint button. Sewer networks and cleverly placed fountains provide seamless fast travel options, ensuring that backtracking through sprawling environments never becomes an arduous chore that slows down the momentum of your trick-or-treating journey. Visual fidelity receives a noticeable boost through high-resolution upscaling, which renders UI elements like the compass and subtitles with exceptional clarity. Characters from the inaugural adventure return as older versions of themselves, which creates a genuinely warm sense of continuity for those who followed the original tale and its expansion. Wolfman and solar system designs stand out as particularly awesome additions to the roster of playable outfits available to your group. Visual upgrades now carry over between costumes, allowing players to personalise their party’s appearance while maintaining the unique flair that makes hunting for rare materials and hidden secrets so engaging. Combat receives a substantial overhaul that feels disappointingly simplified compared to the diverse input methods utilised in the predecessor. Every costume now relies almost exclusively on timing button presses to match shrinking rings, which lacks the nuanced variety that made earlier battles feel distinct rather than rhythmically repetitive or predictable. Artificial difficulty spikes occur when opponents employ fake-out attacks, making successful blocks feel awkward rather than rewarding. You are no longer granted automatic health regeneration between skirmishes, meaning that forgetting to manually heal your team before the next encounter can frequently lead to being overwhelmed by aggressive, respawning enemy squads. Overall, the sequel succeeds as a charming and accessible romp that prioritises smooth traversal and witty writing over deep mechanical complexity. Whilst long-time players might lament the loss of passive battle stamps and intricate attack patterns, the improvements to quality of life make this a highly enjoyable and worthwhile seasonal distraction.
An improved version of the first game. More maps and more character types. Story was pretty neat too. Overall a solid pick to play during the spooky season.
Not bad game, but I don't like most of new mechanic, it makes game not so comfortable for me. For instance it makes me using numbers 1,2,3 for using attack or other action during battle, furthermore it also make choosing foes or action more uncomfortable cause W and S using for choose a foe, A and D for choosing action. For me it is a problem. I like how devs improve graphics and don't use a lot of storage. In general I give it 7/10 good vibe, mid plot, and uncomfortable battle control.
