Apparently this used to be a mobile game. For some reason they decided to keep mobile game mechanics like energy systems....If you are not good at this kind of game then you're out of luck. You will have to wait until you can play again should you die to often. It not only creates a point where the player has nothing to do but also limits the opportunities for the player to get better at it since they have to wait. Another problem is that for perks, the game does not tell you they cost money every run. You might believe it's a buy once and unlock for unlimited usage. This also seems like a mobile game vestige since there would be interest there to consume your currency. It's not only poorly explained but the perks get left on as long as you have money. So you wonder why your money is going down every run by a bit.
A terrible auto-runner where you run down hallways shooting zombies that keep running after you. Occasionally you need to turn left/right or knock over an obstacle to slow down the zombies by pressing a button prompt. After a bit, one of three (?) boss zombies will chase after you for a bit until you kill it. Complete some objective to progress the story a little bit. This is complete trash. It's ultra-repetitive and extremely non-challenging once you know how to kill each boss. This is so easy that runs take forever if you actually try. Most of the time you'll complete an objective fairly quickly and then just let yourself die on purpose, otherwise you'll be running for another 10-20 minutes for no purpose. Also, this is buggy.
Really funny game! Recomended!
Corridor Z, developed by Mass Creation and published by We Dig Games, is an ambitious take on the endless runner genre that tries to inject a sense of narrative, tension, and action into what is traditionally a straightforward arcade experience. Rather than reinventing the wheel, it cleverly flips the perspective: instead of your character running forward away from the screen, the camera is turned around, facing you, with zombies relentlessly pursuing you from behind. This design choice is simple but highly effective, turning each run into a constant source of anxiety, as you're not just running to beat a high score—you're running for your life. Set in a quarantined high school overtaken by a zombie outbreak, the game presents a relatively contained but atmospheric world. The survivors are few and spread across different areas of the school, and as you play, you’ll switch between three characters—a high school cheerleader, a jock, and a soldier—each with their own objectives and slight variations in gameplay. The environments remain within the same school setting, but thanks to smart level design and randomized elements, there’s enough visual and functional variation to keep the setting from becoming stale too quickly. The game is also layered with a surprisingly decent backstory that unfolds through collectible logs, notes, and audio recordings, which help build a sense of place and raise the stakes beyond mere survival. Graphically, Corridor Z performs admirably for what it is. On platforms like the PS Vita and PC, the visuals are clean and convey the gritty, blood-smeared hallways and flickering lights of the overrun school with a fair amount of atmosphere. The zombies look menacing enough, though they don’t vary much, and the animations—both for your characters and the environment—are smooth if not spectacular. The audio design complements the tension: the sound of your footsteps pounding on tile, the moans of the undead behind you, and the occasional rattle of debris all contribute to a sense of unease that remains constant throughout each run. Voice acting is present, though not particularly memorable, but it does the job of supporting the sparse narrative without feeling like a cheap afterthought. Gameplay-wise, Corridor Z mixes endless runner fundamentals with action-survival mechanics. Players sprint down the halls, occasionally needing to pull down shelves, drop obstacles, or slide under debris to slow the advancing zombies. You also pick up weapons like pistols, SMGs, or shotguns, which can be used to momentarily dispatch the threats behind you. These tools aren’t just pick-up-and-play, though—they must be aimed and timed, which adds a layer of strategy and precision not typically found in this genre. Upgrading these weapons and abilities becomes a core part of the gameplay loop, as progression is tied to how well you perform and how many missions you complete. Objectives range from basic tasks like "run a certain distance" to more involved challenges that require multiple attempts, adding a sense of forward momentum even when individual runs end in failure. Despite its clever ideas and immersive atmosphere, Corridor Z is not without its flaws. Chief among them is the repetitive nature of the gameplay loop. While the inclusion of three characters and mission-based progression helps mitigate the grind, eventually the lack of true level variety begins to wear thin. The school setting, while initially compelling, remains the only environment throughout the game, and although the corridors get shuffled and populated with different hazards, it doesn’t take long for players to feel like they’ve seen everything the game has to offer. The controls can also be a sticking point—especially on platforms like the PS Vita—where quick swipes and button presses don’t always register cleanly, resulting in occasional deaths that feel more like the fault of the interface than the player. In a game where reflexes are everything, that kind of inconsistency can be frustrating. Another divisive element is the game’s structure and progression system, which borrows heavily from mobile free-to-play design philosophies, even though Corridor Z is sold as a premium title on most platforms. The need to grind for currency, unlock upgrades, and wait for cooldowns can feel artificially extended at times, and some players may find this pacing mechanic tedious. While this setup allows for long-term engagement, it also limits the game’s appeal for those seeking a more streamlined or skill-focused experience. There’s a constant tug-of-war between survival tension and repetitive grind, and not all players will appreciate the balance that Corridor Z tries to strike. Still, the game manages to deliver something fresh, especially in how it uses its point-of-view and tension mechanics to keep players on edge. The fact that you can see the zombies getting closer with each stumble, that you have to time your obstacles and shots with precision, and that death feels imminent at all times helps maintain adrenaline across sessions. It's also commendable that Mass Creation attempted to weave in narrative elements into a genre that usually skips storytelling altogether. While the narrative may not be deep, it’s present enough to give purpose to your runs and contextualize the characters’ desperate attempts to escape. In the end, Corridor Z is a niche but worthwhile entry in the endless runner genre. It’s not groundbreaking in terms of mechanics, but it is inventive enough in its presentation and atmosphere to carve out a space for itself among more arcade-style peers. For players who enjoy short, high-tension gameplay loops with a bit of story and some light customization, it offers a decent bang for the buck. It likely won’t hold the attention of gamers seeking deep gameplay systems or high production values, but it doesn’t need to. What it does offer—a sense of dread, a race against death, and a school full of hazards and secrets—is delivered with just enough style and conviction to make the experience memorable, if only for a little while. Rating: 8/10
It's an addictive game. Once you get over the learning curve it's fun. BUt the steam cloud will not save your progress between systems or computers. You lose progress. Also how the turns and shooting work stinks. i.le. it will get you killed
