CooKing: Around the World

I believe cooking only takes time away from eating (not to mention the shopping before and washing up after), but was happy to finally see a food-based puzzler that isn't time-management nonsense. [b]cooking[/b] is very similar to [b]doodle god[/b], but with actual sense, not just combining random stuff to create more random stuff. at least that's what I thought at first, then blamed myself for being a big-time eater with zero idea about cooking, then realized that part of my being dumbfounded is because [b]everything consists of 2 or 3 ingredients[/b], which may sound easy, but it really isn't. even I know preparing meals is more complicated than that, but I'm always happy to suspend my disbelief (especially when it comes to food, best not find out how the sausage is made), and of course certain ingredients still have to be created, then combined to make something else, so there are [b]recipes with multiple steps[/b]. and what sets this game aside from others is the [b]discovered recipes get replaced with real ones, so there's a culinary educational aspect[/b]. you'll go through [b]8 restaurants[/b] from all over the world with [b]about 10 local dishes each[/b]. double-click ingredients or drag them to the chopping boards, right click removes the last one, middle mouse clears all the slots. if you discover something, you usually get a pun, often served on a blinding background. I liked the presentation for the most part, nice graphics and okay music, but some of the ui is a bit iffy and colors and fonts don't always look that great. [b]hints are available[/b] in limited amounts, some are more useful than others and you get a few more by discovering stuff, but you can't take them to the next level, each starts with only 2, which is unfortunate. while I liked the corny jokes, [b]grammar is really bad in the english version[/b] (nothing hindering comprehension) and I found [b]a few minor bugs (nothing a trip to the main menu and back didn't fix)[/b]. my biggest problem, however, is [b]you gotta re-do basic ingredients in every location[/b], and the recipe book only has the real-life recipes, and only for full meals anyway, not for batter and other basic stuff. resolutions and windowed mode only available from the main menu (and from the unity launcher), english and hungarian languages, music toggle and a single volume slider anytime. there are only a couple of sound effects and they're not too loud, so having only one slider is not a big problem. [b]manual saving is available[/b], but I'm pretty sure the game saves automatically as well, though I didn't check if it was only at the end of a level or after every discovery or what. I had to look up a few things (fine, many things), both real-life recipes to find out what the actual food is and what it's made of, and some in-game steps too, but on the whole I think it's pretty cool. if you love food, don't mind matching games, and have the patience to try various item combinations, [b]get to the choppa![/b] but probably wait for a sale or until it's patched up a bit more.

Help. I do not know which combination is needed for Pancake Soup in this game Edit says Never mind. Some guide helped me figure it out but now I don't know which combination is needed for French Toast

Was fun at first until the wanted me to make Philly steak and coleslaw. Hints don't help you there and was stuck

Stuck on the Italian menu. Game could be fun if it made more sense with the ingredients. Flour, water, yeast doesn't make pizza dough? Oh, OKAY. Also wasted all my hints trying to make lasagna and it says I need bechamel; fast forward to when I made bechamel and it is grayed out (made in past menus and meant to mean it is unnecessary for this menu) so I am stuck. To sum it up: Spend money, get stuck, use hints, GET STUCK FOREVER

I had so much fun with this game! I like cooking in real life too, so I really enjoyed it and a big plus that the game contains the real recipes so I can make them. I recommend it.
