About

Connie and the Essence of Chaos is an old school 2D platformer inspired by some of my favourite childhood games.
In this game you control the limbless hero Connie and her Spirit friend Plum on their quest to defeat Lucilate, an evil overlord who has taken over the island of Cuisinia. Travel through 6 different worlds, battle against tough bosses, free all the imprisoned Spirits and take down Lucilate for good! Harness the power of Essence to solve platforming challenges and navigate your way through tricky levels. Think before you jump because precision is key!

This game is 100% human made.

I may be biased because I was the main playtester, but Connie and the Essence of Chaos is EPIC. It's an absolutely massive journey full of laughs, tears, characters, details, boss fights, collectibles and varied colorful levels each with their own themeing. Connie is precise and methodical like a classic 2D platformer, but also smooth as butter and amazing to control. I think this game has a really good difficulty curve and is cleverly built so even a more inexperienced player can clear the story but actually tackling all optional challenges is where the real "fun" begins. Now I just have to chip away at getting all the achievements in this Steam built...
I love Rayman 1 inspired games! I love the silly cartoon-ish sound effects! I love that objects, enemies and plants have eyes that stare at you! I love the creative thematic fantastic worlds! Great game, Ryemanni is always great, and this is my favourite original game by them so far. Looking forward to their next projects and games!

Tastes like man feels like Ray, I can't believe it, it might just be the game of all time, play it. Also know I know how to grow very good carrots
cote and funnie😭
(I was a tester for the game and received it for free on Steam) This game is BIG, BOLD, BRIGHT and BEAUTIFUL! Not to mention BALANCED in its challenge (it gets really tough later on!) From my experience testing Connie I can only recommend it to anybody who is interested in platformers! I love Connie and Plum!!!
Punching is fun again!
connie is bouncy and peppy. the inspiration is clear, and while you can absolutely feel it (especially in the difficulty!) it's a fantastic time. it absolutely manages to be its own thing and stand solid on its own. some solid levels. great controls. the game looks fantastic visually and uses colors incredibly well. it's a good time and i think you should pick it up!
This game is an attempt to recapture the lightning Rayman Redemption was, but it lacks the polish, precision and perfection RR had. The gameplay is alike, but at times the difficulty goes into absurd levels, requiring you to be pixel perfect, otherwise you'll fail. In particular, the green blocks can at times be very frustrating to navigate, and the controls on remote fist are nowhere near as tight and polished, compared to precision the game demands of you. Meanwhile, most bosses in this game are a complete joke. There's no looking for a moment to attack, you just hold the punch button until they drop dead. As for the last two - well, I won't spoil the details, but that was absolute overkill. The story is nothing special, but that's to be expected. it is a simple Rayman 1-esque platformer after all, so not going to judge that part harshly. What I am going to judge harshly is the "heater" system. Purple heaters will not respawn, if you place them somewhere further ahead and then fall and get back at the checkpoint, so basically, you're screwed. And did we really need an entire world, built on ice physics, which is the bane of most platformers as is? I loved Rayman Redemption to bits, but this game? This isn't it, not even close. It mimics the gameplay, but there's a lot more polish required until it becomes as tight and pleasing to play. And if you are a fan of RR, I cannot in good conscience recommend you this one yet.
Rayman 1 is my favorite game of all time, and after proving himself with the wonderful Rayman Redemption remake, Ryemanni has created an original game that feels like a love letter to our limbless hero. I can also see some inspirations from Rayman 3, Crash Bandicoot and Shantae in there, which is great! The gameplay, the level design, the animations, the music... this is pretty much my ideal 2D platformer in every way! I'm about a third through the game and I'm loving every second of it.
Infuriating levels of hard, largely from various hitbox issues. There will be a fair share of "That thing hit me??????" and making precise punches through a narrow gap, possibly under a time pressure. I get the Rayman inspiration, but that's definitely not a good way of making things harder. (The rest of the negativity comes from the grappling hook itself which requires ridiculous amount of precision, especially in world 1 extra level, which is borderline ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to the point of the dev being well aware enough to include *two* shielded hearts there. No comment on whether that's the only level to feature shielded hearts as I haven't finished world 4 extra level.)
