About
Confederate Express is a hardcore mouse-only clicker puzzle that leaves no room for mercy. Set in a grim dystopian future, you’re trying to deliver a mysterious package. Sounds simple, right? Wrong. In this game, making it past level 3 feels like a victory. The difficulty curve is less of a curve and more of a sheer cliff, with each of the 50 levels designed to break your spirit and test your very will to continue.
Mouse-Only Mayhem: Forget multiple inputs—this game is all about precision, as every action is driven by nothing more than your mouse. One wrong click? You're back to square one. Get used to the grind—it’s the only way forward.
Experimental, Brutal Gameplay: Confederate Express is a niche experiment in extreme difficulty. It’s not designed to be accessible or easy. It’s designed to test whether you’re tough enough to survive. Spoiler: Most aren’t.
In a decaying, dystopian world, you play as a merciless exterminator on a mission to deliver a mysterious package. The path is riddled with impossible scenarios, where each level throws you into a blood-soaked battle against vicious enemies who use deadly tactics. Every encounter is a test of skill and survival, and failure is inevitable—but each death only brings you closer to uncovering the dark secrets of the world you’re trying to navigate.
Confederate Express boasts an unmistakable visual style - "aliasing" - powered by a proprietary rendering framework - False2D™ API. This technology allows for an unparalleled visual fidelity, transforming a collection of over 50,000 hand drawn animation frames into a spectacular flurry of visual feast.
Confederate Express is a hardcore, niche experience built for those who crave an insane challenge. It’s visceral, punishing, and relentless experience, pushing your patience, reflexes, and even your sanity to the limit.

The controls are very poor, and i wouldn't even call it a game...more like a hardcore clicker mobile game...even if that. The art style is cool, but again, the controls break this game. Don't even get on a sale. Edit: Did some more deep dive on the kickstarter stuff.....and my god. Stay away...very far away.

If onloy the developer had actually built a better game whith what he has made here. It could have been sooooo good, but the replayability and depth of this game is appaling for the price I paid. To the developer: After reading all the other reviews, and looking online about the story, you could have created / designed an AMAZING game here (to rivel most AAA titles) IF you had actually designed the game you promised in the first place. I ama believer of giving people second chances, and WHEN/IF you actually make this game as good as the promises on the kickstarter page, I will rebuy this game and fully enjoy it. However, in its currect state it is no better than most tech demos. I will check back regularly, but untill it is improved, I am getting a refund.
I backed this game on Kickstarter. While I wasn't disappointed or embittered by the developers' no-show, the game itself is very limited in its scope. It's very pretty but also very boring. It effectively plays as a puzzler as you replay identical scenes with a standard MOVE-SHOOT-MOVE-SHOOT pattern. I'd be surprised if you spend more than 30 minutes playing it. Ultimately it's quite clear that the game has been rushed out to mitigate an outstanding lawsuit and that the original backers' cash has been spent on lawers rather than development time. Check out the EULA for a chuckle: BINDING ARBITRATION AGREEMENT AND CLASS ACTION WAIVER For those that who live in the United States, please review the binding arbitration agreement and class action waiver that is part of these Terms and Conditions. Under the agreement, Maksym Pashanin and you both agree to use a neutral arbitrator to decide any individual claims that may arise and thus agree to waive Maksym Pashanin's rights to bring individual claims in court for consideration by a judge or jury. Maksym Pashanin also agrees that class action lawsuits and class-wide arbitrations are not allowed under the terms of the agreement.
Yet another kickstarter backer here. Just ignore this piece of garbage, It's not even worth $1 in it's current state, not to mention not even close to what it was supposed to be, according to the kickstarter campaign. Check out GeneralDenmark's review if you want to know the details but better yet, just move along. Nothing to see here, just another kickstarter failure.
Gonna try and be a bit more reserved than everyone else here and say this: I was one of the people who kickstarted this, and it is nothing like what was promised back then. But let's go through with what the game actually is. - TL;DR Don't let the images and video fool you, this is not a good game. - Gameplay Game uses a two button system, one for moving and one for attacking. What the game fails to explain to you though is that both buttons are for movement, and that weapons have a limited effective range which your character will move into before attacking. This is similar to an attack move from strategy games, but fails to give you an option to target something specific (like an explosive barrel) which means that whenever you make an attack move, you just have to hope an pray that your character eventually does what you actually want. There are places within the game where you can buy upgrades, but these are almost unnoticable when you actually get to them. This is also how you upgrade to Hardcore Mode, which, given the other issues with the gameplay, I pray to god that you never use. I haven't played much yet, so I don't know if it's possible to unlock stuff like other characters or weapons down the line, and due to the gameplay being pretty poor, I doubt I will ever find out. - Music Not much to speak of, seems there's about 3-4 tracks in the game and most of them are just the same kind of droning electrical sounds that seem to be ambience more than actual music. - Story There's a story? - Graphics The one decent thing in this game is the pixelart, though it's not really something amazing either. The whole "False2D" engine thing gets pretty obnoxious as I don't really see anything it does different, other than maybe adding some blur to the graphics. It's neat that the devs wanted to focus on making their own engine for the project, but you also have to ask yourself if it was actually worth waiting 5 years for. I do recall the kickstarter updates, the few that existed, mentioned stuff about the lighting in the game, but honestly not sure it was worth the effort. - Conclusion If you have 10 bucks to spare, and don't really care about actually playing the game then sure, buy it. But I really wouldn't recommend throwing more money at this guy if he can't deliver on his promises. This project had a lot of promise back when the kickstarter was live, but has since been completely changed in favor of something that's barely playable, much less enjoyable. I hope this project serves as a lesson to the dev that they should focus on making the gameplay fun and enjoyable, rather than focusing all their time and effort on engine work that doesn't really change all that much.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that was trying to figure out why on Earth I would ever have considered backing THIS game on Kickstarter 5 years ago. I thought I had better taste than that. Turns out I DO have better taste than this. This isn't even remotely the game I backed, the game we were promised, or the game we were shown. There isn't one single redeeming quality about this "game". It's a waste of drive space and a waste of time for whoever actually created it and tried to pass it off to the backers. OH MY GOD Steam won't let me post a review because I only played the game for 2 minutes and need to have played for 5. Please hold on while I sit in the start menu for 3 minutes. Good grief, that was torture.
I backed this game in Kickstarter however many years ago. I remember at some point receiving an update about how the game was going to change drastically from its original pitch, it was no longer going to be a "strategy-oriented tactical RPG." And I have no problems with that, unlike 95% of people, I understand that Kickstarter is about backing *projects.* A project by its very nature can change, mutate, implode or explode during actual production. But what about the finished product finally here with us? Well, it does look good, as good as it did back when I help Kickstart it, but other than that this is not a very compelling game. It basically consists of a linear sequence of rooms filled with a couple different types of enemies and the only thing you control is your movement, your character shoots automatically, which I found to be annoying as it eschews a more precise level of control a game like this should have. You can buy some upgrades for your character here and there but that seems to be the extent of features to be found. There is a DEMO (remember those??) available so you can always still try it and decide for yourself.
A train wreck.
I am impressed they actually finished the game but the second screen of the game ramps up the difficulty to a degree that is stupid.
