Comicado

I was a bit unsure if I should buy it or not when I first saw this program. I couldn't find a single review or opinion on the internet or user review in here, but after reading the Community Hub I decided to give it a try, and here what I think about it: Pros: - Weight: It's quite a lightweight program, so older computers can run it. - Perspective tool: It helps a LOT when working on sceneries. You can use up to 3 vanishing points, and it's easy to adjust the angle. - Pose Tool: I was really curious about it, specially since it's something I always missed in other drawing programs and how it would work with angles and perspective, and it work quite nicely. - Panels: They may feel a bit odd at first, but they really help a lot. You draw inside them, and then you can position and adjust them in your comic. - The Developers: Not only they've been helping newbies to the program, giving tips and instructions and making guides on how to use it, they also been listening to the users. - Price: A good program for a fair price, what not like about it? Contras: - The UI: It can be a bit hard to understand on how to use for begginers, but it's not hard once you learn on how to use it (which for me didn't take long, around three to five minutes poking around the program). - Lack of Guides and Tutorials: It's a fairly new program so, which means it's hard to find tutorials and guides on the internet, but as I said earlier, the developers have been of great help with guides and answering users questions. - Tablet - It's highly recommended to have a graphic tablet to use the program, and sadly not everyone have or can afford one. So yeah, I do recommend this program.

Great program. I went over to this from PaintTool SAI and it really wasn't that difficult to figure out how the tools or UI worked. This isn't the best beginner program, but it has everything you need to start. For someone who is working on a web comic or illustration, this program has a lot of very powerful and easy to use tools, in addition to a decent variet of basics. Pros: Excellent, fully adjustable perspectives tool Character poser! Lets you adjust and move a skeleton for characters. Rulers! Adjustable straight lines, curved lines and circles. Customizable brushes Cons: Feels a little clunky compared to SAI. Smoothing on the cursor/pen is responsive at 0, but when you draw curves they come out blocky. At max, it feels like your pen is lagging. Very limited "undo" amount. Over all, I feel like it's a great program.

I won't lie, it's not perfect by any means. Once you start it up there are pretty much no tutorials, so you need to figure out a lot for yourself or ask around. That being said, although I wouldn't recommend this as a high end art program or a substitute for one, it works QUITE well for its intended purpose. It has a lot of interesting tools, and it has enough going for it to satisfy any comic or manga artist. And worse case scenario if it doesn't suit your needs, there's no reason you can't start each page on this program then add finishing touches with a more advanced one if you have it. In summation, this isn't photoshop. Not even close. But it will definitely take a few headaches out of the comic and panel making process. I recommend it to anyone who wants to make a comic or web comic but don't want to shell out 100 dollars or more for the means to do so. Having a graphics tablet would definitely help, but of course that's provided you can afford one in the first place.

Very glad I purchased this. I've been using it constantly. Very simple, lightweight program. It's only 6 MB! But it's got it where it counts. It feels great. The stroke smoothing is great. Pressure sensitivity with my Wacom Bamboo tablet is excellent. If you are looking for an inking program, you could spend more and find one with a more robust set of tools, but if all you are interested in is inking, this is a great price. It also does some nice airbrush and colouring but I haven't used it for that yet. Bottom line is: I'm very glad I got this.. Esp. for 50% off during the holiday sale. :) Haven't stopped using it.

Muy impresionado con lo que puede hacer este programa si lo sabes utilizar, algo diferente del standard que marca photoshop,gimp,manga studio,sai,etc... Con herramientas del color menos poderosas que estos,pero con herramientas de dibujo mejor implementadas que los anteriores, es muy divertido de trabajar/dibujar/pasar el rato con el. recomiendo usar el modo lite, sabras si tiene feeling, aunque lo bueno esta en las reglas de perspectiva y otras cosas. Si os decidis a comprarlo podeis agregarme y compartiremos nuetros ratos de dibujo, artworks, o curiosidades por descubrir en este fantastico programa.

This is a great, light weight all-around art software ^^ IMPORTANT: IF YOU'VE BEEN ON THE FENCE ABOUT THIS SOFTWARE, PLEASE BY ALL MEANS BUY IT NOW. It's going to dissapear from the steam store as well as the developers website so unless you own it now, you'll never be able to purchase this program again once it's gone. And it's better to buy something even if you only kind-of want it when it could go bye-bye any day now. Even if you never use it, you might as well get it just to own it and not have any regrets. I've used it for just about everything art and photo related though it's specifically tailored for making comics and webcomics - which is the main reason I wanted to get this program. And kindly enough a dear friend of mine bought it for me as a birthday gift and i've been using it ever since. I use it for just about everything - editing sprites for mods, making finalized character sheets for my webcomic after scanning my artwork into the computer (yes, i'm one of the weirdoes who mainly draws on paper), editing photos i take with my camera, ect. In addition I'm actively working on a webcomic and this software has helped me transfer my art from paper to digital page and because of the pannels and text systems, I don't have to worry about hopping from program to program to get all of that other stuff done. It's lightweight and runs on practically nothing which is good if you have very little space left on your computer for high-tech softwares that risk making your computer combust into flame. It's also a cheap art software compared to a lot of art softwares out there. You have your free paint tools and photo editors, but those may not come with a lot of options or may just be 'lite' versions of full softwares. Photoshop can cost up to 600 bucks, OpenCanvas on Steam is normally 50 dollars and Comicado is 30 dollars and has the bonus specialty of being geared toward making comics - so if you're making a webcomic anytime soon then by all means buy this software. The only downside i can really think of is that it may not have as many brush types those other programs may have. In addition there's a weird issue I've had where I cna't stretch the windows horizontally, only vertically... There's also no option to change how the windows are displayed. The window with all of the available colors for example I can't utilize completely because it's a long bar full of colors by default and there's no way to stretch the window or change how the colors are displayed to take advantage of all my options... but for me that's become very minor, just something I'm used to and that isn't a big hassle anymore. This also applies to importing images you may want to edit. I often find myself having to shrink down my own photos otherwise they won't appear in Comicado... But as i said before, it's just something i've come to deal with... Unless you're dealing with really HUGE images, you don't have anything to worry about. Some other issues I discovered is that the maximum picture size you can have is 6400x6400 HOWEVER, if you type that into the board set up, the software crashes... I think the biggest image I've gotten away with is 6310x6310. So if you wanna edit super large images, you may be out of luck (hopefully this and the importing issue will be resolved in the dev's successor to Comicado, which you can read about in the forums) Conclusion: If you need an art software or if you need to get your webcomic off the ground and don't want any trouble then this software is a must-buy. Buy it before it goes away forever. I give Comicado 5 'plz stay on Steam'(s) out of 5.

Мало кистей. Много ненужных приспособлений. Покупала из-за якобы прикольной фичи с позами и перспективой. На деле это очень урезанная линейка и куколка человека с подвижными суставами-шариками. (без знания нормальной анатомии все равно не обойтись) Использование неудобное, даже с туториалами не разберешься, постоянно исчезают панели инструментов, не разобраться где какой слой. В том же Фотошопе все со слоями обстоят намного проще при лучшей производительности и оптимизации, большем выборе инструментов. (если сравнивать цену, то конечно Comicado выиграет, но.) Не рекомендую. Программа с высоким уровнем вхождения. Если у тебя высокий скилл, ты и в обычном пейнте красоту наведешь. Но программа позиционирует себя как удобное приспособление для начинающих, а по сути таким не является. И главный минус: у меня программа не поддерживает нажатие пера планшета. Т.е. линия везде проходит с одинаковым нажимом. (если что у меня wacom)

Paint Tool SAI лучше :Р

The pressure sensitivity is really greaat with my tablet (Waom Bamboo) I can do the lightest of storkes through to hardest just as if I was drawing with pencil/pen etc. - Trust me when I say I have tried a LOT of digital art software in my quest to find something that is easy to use and gets the results I want without having to remortgage my home to do it. Personally so far I havent experinced lag with the splines as I noticed some people had commented but there again I havent tried anything complex as yet. I like the layers system, and the UI is simple which I also like, I think I definitely need to play around more with the features in Comicado to familiarise myself with it and probably even longer to realise all the potential in it - and i think there is loads (potential) that you could do and hours of fun to be had. The brushes that come in the pre-sets seem limited at first glance BUT I think you are able to edit them as you want - not sure if there is possibility to import your own custom brushes or not yet I havent tried... Cons- the help and how to's could certainly be a little easier to navigate, I would personally love to see some video tutorials in varying technical difficulties that would be awesome! This is definitely going to be up in my favourites of digital artistic software Just a warning someone mentioned they couldnt draw with their mouse - I would definitely recommend using with a pen/tablet set up which Comicado does state in recommendations

Please do not buy this product. I only had this thing for 2.9 hours, and that was it. After that, any time I tried to open it, my border would turn green, then blue again. I hav uninstalled and reinstalled Steam three times already, all with no avail. I don't know if this is Steam or a file, or whatever, but it's not at all worth it. As an alternative, I recommend Paint Tool SAI, even though it is a little pricey at nearly $60, but it never shuts down, and it seems to be the best image painting tool so far. Better than Fire Alpacam, better than this, and possibly better than Photoshop. So go get that instead. If anyone can be able to help me get Comicado to work again so I can give this product another chance (and therefore a fair review), it would be greatly appreciated.
