About
COMTEC : Your Partner in Profitable Deep Space Ventures
As a freelance Prospector, you’ve chosen COMTEC to supply you with what you need. COMTEC, the galaxy’s #1 comet-coloniser. Your goal? To buy a comet, extract its resources and build a destination for tourists, hoping to make your money back.

Land on procedurally generated comets, categorised from Common to Exotic. Harvest raw materials, process them into valuable products, and keep your production chains running, your workers alive and you might keep everyone alive long enough to escape with those credits.

As word spreads of your comet, space tourists and those just passing by may land; seeking shelter, snacks, or perhaps just a place to breathe. Build facilities to keep them alive (while they have creds). Entertain them with facilities like the Arquaid, satisfy their thirst at your bar, or perhaps they desperately need your oxygen. But in space, air isn't free.
Workers will try to look after the essentials but they too need oxygen and food just like real people. But hey, with enough credits maybe drones will be a better choice. What drone has ever needed food and sleep?

Extract resources and build the infrastructure to process new products on procedurally generated comets
Care for the human workers that try to run your operation
Cater to space travelling visitors with food, facilities, and entertainment
Survive the resource demand visitors put on you (ethically or otherwise)
Upgrade workers and facilities to speed up production
Earn enough creds to buy the rights to bigger and better comets

Reviews
A charming labour of love by a solo developer. A nostalgic remembrance of tycoon games of old that scratches a retro itch. Doesn't quite hold your hand making the early game somewhat difficult, it's easy to misstep in the rush to get supply chains up and running for essential necessities. You may starve before you've even thought to buy a monocle. Mid game onwards is a comfortable settling in to the real objective of tycoonery. It's a short experience and a little rough around the edges. But full of detail and charm. A hopeful start to this developers game dev career.
Comet Tycoon is kind of game for me with big nostalgia attached to it. I enjoy the graphics, music fits the vibe and the game play is easy and engaging fun. I am sure it is not for everyone to go for cometary business development, but if you are in any kind of doubt, wonder no more. Demo is there for you. Game is nice and easy to play. Give it try!
Unfortunately I can't recommend Comet Tycoon as of right now (v1.3). There's definitely the base/shell of a good game here, but it's overshadowed by bugs, missing explanations, and a fairly small amount of content. It seems like I've encountered most of the content in <2.5h of playtime (~0.5h of which were spent restarting on a larger comet, after already producing everything on a medium-sized one), which is far too little for the price of 11.79€. Issues/bugs I've encountered: - workers sometimes stop moving & stay frozen forever, breaking automation - saving & loading resets some things (one time most of my buildings lost their workers, and the shop surplus settings are completely reset) - all buildings except power plants say "drones at maximum capacity" while 0 drones are assigned And maybe I missed it, but there seems to be no explanation for what causes reputation to increase/decrease. At some point, I just started getting a bunch of money on the first comet (once the bar went golden), at which point I could afford pretty much everything. I hope to try the game again after a few more updates, and hopefully with more content added. Again, there's a good base here!
Great fun! Capitalism in the name of finding your cat! Lots of improvements since the demo. Good pacing of unlocks, upgrades and research keeps you invested.
A huge amount of fun, buy, mine, sell repeat! Early days with a dev dedicated to player feedback. Looking foirward to seeing where this eventually ends up!
Hey there, Spacey cakes. ;-) This game pairs well with Cryo Chillin, Astro Vibes, and long Moonwalks on the comet beach. Lunar Loungesuit with Cosmic cardigans... Please enjoy responsibly!
