Coincidences ended up being exactly what I expected... and honestly, that's not a bad thing. I originally added this game to my wishlist after seeing it in the upcoming releases. It looked pretty decent from the trailers. Not like it was going to be the next horror masterpiece, but good enough to catch my attention. After playing it, I'd say that's exactly where it landed. The story follows a character who, after getting hit with a sudden rent increase, moves into a suspiciously cheap house that's tucked away deep in the middle of the woods. Now, if you're anything like me, alarm bells are already going off. A house in the middle of nowhere that's unbelievably affordable and has work nearby? If it sounds too good to be true... it probably is. Turns out, there was a very good reason the rent was so cheap. The atmosphere does a solid job of building tension throughout the game, and there are quite a few good jumpscares mixed in along the way. There are even a couple of moments that had me scrambling in full panic mode, which is always a plus in a horror game. While it may not be one of the biggest or most polished horror titles out there, I don't think it was ever trying to be. It's a shorter indie experience that knows what it wants to do and executes it well enough to keep you entertained from beginning to end. Overall, I had a good time with Coincidences. It's not going to crack my list of all-time favorite horror games, but it's also nowhere near the bottom. If you're looking for a fun, shorter indie horror game with a creepy atmosphere, a handful of solid scares, and a story that keeps you curious, I'd say it's definitely worth the time and money.
Coincidences starts off promising. The game is well made from a technical standpoint, it runs smoothly with fluid movement and solid animations. The developers clearly put effort into making the core experience feel polished. However the game quickly falls apart due to several annoying design desicions that make it genuinely difficult and unpleasant to play. Many sections feel like they were designed to frustrate rather than scare. Most games like this make players hate them instead of enjoy them, and coincidences is no exception. One of the worst issues is how some ares are made extremely dark. You can barely see anything, which means you can't even often spot the demon coming until it's right on top of you. Instead of creating tense, atmospheric horror, it just feels unfair and cheap. Horror games are supposed to build dread and fear through atmosphere and clever design, not blind frustration like this. On top of everything, the game has no controller support, which is a baffling oversight in 2026. the lack of proper controller compatability makes the already irritating gameplay even harder to enjoy. VERDICT: After finishing Coincidences, I honestly can't recommend it to anyone looking for a good horror game to play. It had potential with its smooth performance and decent presentation, but the excessive darkness, unfair enemy encounters, and overall frustrating design kill any fun or fear.
Coincidences? is a psychological horror adventure developed and published by FogTime that transforms an ordinary life event into an increasingly disturbing mystery. The story begins with a relatable dilemma: soaring rent prices force the protagonist to leave their current residence in search of a cheaper place to live. An unusually affordable house located near a quiet forest appears to be the perfect solution, especially after securing work at a nearby convenience store. However, what initially seems like fortunate timing gradually reveals itself to be anything but normal. As unsettling incidents begin to pile up, players are left questioning whether these events are truly random coincidences or part of a far darker truth waiting to be uncovered. The game's strongest quality is its ability to create suspense through atmosphere rather than relying on constant scares. Every location, from the isolated home to the surrounding woods and the seemingly mundane workplace, contributes to an oppressive sense of unease. The environments are carefully designed to make players feel isolated and vulnerable, while subtle environmental details encourage close observation. Instead of immediately revealing its secrets, the narrative unfolds gradually, allowing tension to build naturally as each discovery raises even more questions. This slow-burning approach rewards patient players who enjoy piecing together clues and interpreting environmental storytelling. Gameplay centers primarily on exploration, investigation, and first-person immersion. Players are encouraged to search their surroundings, interact with important objects, and uncover hidden details that advance the narrative. To keep the experience engaging, the game occasionally introduces more active sequences that require quick thinking and heightened awareness, breaking up the slower investigative moments with bursts of intensity. These gameplay shifts help maintain momentum without abandoning the deliberate pacing that defines the overall horror experience. The balance between exploration and moments of immediate danger keeps players invested throughout the relatively short adventure. Coincidences? also benefits from cinematic storytelling that remains grounded in the first-person perspective. Rather than relying heavily on lengthy dialogue or exposition, the game uses immersive sequences to strengthen the connection between the player and the protagonist. This presentation makes every unsettling encounter feel personal, allowing players to experience the growing paranoia firsthand. The restrained storytelling avoids overexplaining the mystery, leaving enough ambiguity to encourage speculation while still providing a satisfying progression toward its conclusion. Visually, the game embraces realism over spectacle, using lighting, environmental detail, and carefully staged scenes to create an unsettling atmosphere. The sound design complements this approach by emphasizing silence, distant noises, and subtle audio cues that constantly keep players on edge. Instead of overwhelming the player with nonstop horror, the experience understands that uncertainty and anticipation are often far more effective than frequent jump scares. This thoughtful approach gives each frightening moment greater impact when it finally arrives. The game's estimated ninety-minute runtime works well for its focused narrative. The concise length ensures that the mystery remains engaging without unnecessary padding or repetitive objectives. While some players may wish for additional story content or greater replay value, the compact structure allows the experience to maintain consistent pacing from beginning to end. Mature content, including graphic violence, gore, and disturbing themes, reinforces the psychological horror without becoming excessive or distracting from the central narrative. Overall, Coincidences? delivers an engaging indie horror experience built upon atmosphere, immersive storytelling, and carefully paced suspense. FogTime successfully demonstrates that compelling horror does not require elaborate mechanics or lengthy campaigns when the mood, narrative, and environmental design work together effectively. Although its brief duration may leave some players wanting more, its memorable setting, unsettling mystery, and immersive first-person presentation make it a worthwhile experience for fans of psychological horror and narrative-driven adventures. War gut, hab jetzt Nackenstarre
Worth it. Story was easy to follow, scares were on point and the puzzles were good. Looking forward to see if FogTime will make more of these gems. Full playthrough here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIjntnw6irU
