Cocktail Rush is a match 3 game with visual novel elements and nice hand-drawn graphics. You need to help the cute bar workers with the work at the bar by connecting the same drinks into groups.

The worst idea ever for a match 3 is to have to select the drink you want with the mouse then press enter to actually swap the drinks. Swap is only horizontal just to make it more annoying. I guess pressing and sliding in the direction you want was too difficult to code ? Everything is timed, even the small VN part which you need to select the answer quickly and click on the arrow icon to continue to speak to the person. Yes the arrow icon, not elsewhere, only the tiny arrow. It feels like the person who made the VN part had no idea that usually unless in case of stress, answers aren't timed and you click anywhere to continue to speak. As bonus the VN part is not nice at all, managing the match 3 part with the person telling you that "of course you're too slow" is never a good experience. Buy any other match 3, I'm sure it will be better, this one is really the antithesis of the fun.
[olist]
[/olist]
Cocktail Rush combined tile-dropping and match-three gameplay. The game also includes storyline and visual novel elements. While this Match 3 game system sounds simple, it is a complex and fulfilling experience in practice, requiring players to think strategically. The object is to match three identical blocks vertically, horizontally, or side by side. You can move the blocks horizontally only. If blocks reach the top, it's game over.
Cocktail Rush is a "template" flip. The "developer" filled out a basic Match-3 template in the craptastic GameMaker Studio, changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and put it on Steam as if it was their own game. This is par for the course for the Russian asset flippers at Crooked Road/Piece of Voxel (as is using multiple shell accounts to try hide his identity). These guys do nothing but copy premade game templates and game tutorials, fill out a few things/stamp out basic levels using the construction kit templates, slap on an asset flipped set of sprites/assets, and dump them on Steam and into cheap nasty shovelware game bundles as cash grabs. Trying to get paid for someone else's game templates, assets... at best, this is shovelware, at worst, it's a scam/cash grab. This basic GameMaker Studio match-3 demo has no real value or interest as a serious game for PC gamers. If this was released on mobile app stores, it would do badly there... on PC? This just exists as shovelware to fill out random game key bundles. It's scamware. Piece Of Voxel have shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Top Truck Driver" = Hill Racing Template developed by Janko Knez
"DuelVox Max Quality" = Western Desert Town developed by KK Design
"Kings and Pigs" = Kings and Pigs developed by Pixel Frog
"Hoples" = Pixel Adventure 1 developed by Pixel Frog
"Kings and Pigs Prequel" = Kings and Pigs developed by Pixel Frog
Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", Piece Of Voxel has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. This is indistinguishable from a mobile app, but they put this on Steam instead of the app stores by mistake. Was it rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all)?. Regardless, for all intents and purposes Cocktail Rush might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players, and the worst part is these weren't genuine players, these were the Russian fake review accounts that the developer paid to make the fake reviews. Since the fake reviews are all done, now the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. It's also important to note the "developer" here has connections to a number of shady Russian asset flippers and review manipulators who show an organised pattern to scam and defraud gamers with fake reviews and asset flipping the work of others for profit. While reviews are about the games, gamers should be informed when developers act unethically.
Warning: Review Manipulation! This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product.
Cocktail Rush has the pathetically optimistic price of $10 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $10 asking price for this game could get you games like "Assassin's Creed: Odyssey", "Metro Exodus" or "7 Days to Die". No pixelcrap is worth $10. If developers want to get paid the same kind of money as real game developers who know how to do graphics properly, they need to learn how to do graphics properly.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
