Gem. Play it. If you've burned yourself out on deck builders, the soundtrack and charm will carry you the rest of the way - Aaron Cherof did an amazing job.
A fun sci fi deck builder that can be picked up or stopped at a moment. The characters and story were well written and it was fun to watch a new cutscene at the end of a successful playthough.
I don't always play deck-building games, but when I do, it's this one. It reminds me of FTL, but it's much simpler, with cards that do things like provide shields, evade attacks, or deal damage once per turn. The cards you get during each run are random, and there are plenty of different combinations and synergies to discover. Even cards that initially seem strange or useless can turn out to be surprisingly effective. The core gameplay loop is strong and satisfying. The story also kept me interested. After each successful run, you unlock more pieces of the story, but not necessarily in chronological order. That left me constantly puzzled and wanting to find out what actually happened. Crew unlocks are essential to progressing through the story, while ship unlocks are less important. There's really only one additional ship that I found genuinely good. The rest felt pretty useless, or I simply didn't know how to use them properly. You also have to play with all the crew members multiple times to finish the game, but that's actually a good thing. The extra variety makes the runs more interesting, and the crew members are all cute little animals. It's just adorable. The music is nice, the pixel art is simple but pleasant to look at, and there's some humor in the dialogue as well. Overall, I think this game is great. It's simple, relaxing, and has just enough depth and variety to keep things interesting. Absolutely recommended.

A very refreshing deckbuilding roguelike, but I think it's still undercooked. It's still overall a great game, but it's missing that tiny bit it needs across the board to truly stand out. A little bit more story and worldbuilding could've gone a long way. What is here is great, but it lacks enough of it for the investment in the characters and the ending to payoff in full. A few more artifacts would make runs more consistently different, and it feels like there should be a 4th zone in all honesty. Runs end before you get to REALLY feel the strength of your build once you have your deck ready. Too many times I've found a really fun deck that just kinda beats the final boss in like 3 turns, and then that's just it. I want to stress, I DO LOVE this game. It's a ton of fun, and quite unique. It's so close to getting everything right, but falters right at the finish line. I would adore a sequel, or even just another game in this universe with these characters, there's a ton that could be explored with the groundwork that's already been put in.
GAME OF THE YEAR BABY!!!
Yip yip Parry + Parry + Parry
I'm the sort who usually only gives negative reviews. Good game, had alot of fun with it. Not perfectly balanced but it offers enough options that you aren't trapped into one meta. The characters are fun, the story is good. Hoping to see this game get a follow up even if it's not another roguelike... (roguelite?)
What a fantastic game! A well-balanced deckbuilder, a fun, quick rogue-like, great mechanics balanced over several different characters. They also have a wonderful story that you unlock as you progress, and a really cool ending. If you like FTL and/or deck-builders, BUY IT. If you don't, buy it for someone who does!
peak roguelike deckbuilder! i feel drawn to start a run here and then, runs are neither too long nor too short, the difficulty is well balanced (my win rate on the hardest difficulty feels like ~40%), and the gameplay is fun!
