I really wish there was a 'neutral' review option for this game. The puzzles are good - the right mix of easy and difficult, and lots of variety. Some of them are really inventive! I especially loved the word-rearranging one. The downside in this game in my opinion is the main story mode. The 'story' is the developer talking in depth about his previous games, and what his fans liked and how much 'Joe-ness' it had, and who was involved. There are lots of random irrelevant quotes throughout, too. I found it tedious, narcissistic and utterly disengaging. Also he's used a lot of screenshots of previous games as the images for the puzzles, which is less enjoyable than the random pictures. I think /maybe/ this would be more engaging if I'd been a follower of the previous games, but they are not on Steam or Android that I can see, so I've not come across them. I think this game could be really good if it stuck to being just puzzles and got rid of the attempt to be deep and meta. Sometimes just plain puzzles is enough!
Yep, still addicted. I bought the two Clutter games on steam yesterday and I've become addicted. I love the simple premise and how well it's been twisted into new and different game modes. It's fascinating and really fun! If you're into HOGs or similar casual games and want something that's purely puzzle focused, this is it. If you're into puzzle games, this is also it. It's soothing but fascinatingly tough when the timer is on (optional if you want casual stuff!) and I love it. Highly recommended!
I hadn't heard of this series at all until checking out Grey Alien's publisher page, and wow! It's incredibly satisfying to just sit down, listen to a podcast, and clean stuff up. And I hope that doesn't come off as dismissive! It just really, really, REALLY pings that section of your brain which derives comfort from this sort of thing. I guess, maybe for some people, this could be seen as a stressful experience, but it's been a nice relaxer personally when I'm suffering from executive dysfunction in other aspects of my life.
I've never played a Clutter game before, but I am thoroughly enjoying this one. I love how much I can personalize the gameplay to match my preferred style of play. I'm about halfway through the quest story, and I find it interesting. I'm looking forward to playing through lots of levels over the next month, fitting a few in every day around other activities. If you enjoy a challenge with the ability to ramp it up or tone it down, them I recommend this game. And if you're a casual gamer like I am, you'll enjoy the options to turn off the timer and just zen your way through an hour or so. This is a marvelous mental vacation from all the stress out there :)
Good gameplay value, a lot of variations on a theme. Plus lots of facts that will be interesting if you happen to be the person who designed this game. It's kind of like being stuck with a street preacher who happens to be good at chess and checkers.
Has no vsync/frame limiting options so will send your GPU fans into orbit. Developer refuses to fix and continued to churn out sequels with the same issue.
I own all the Puzzle by Joe games and enjoy them all. I was very happy when this game appeared on Steam. This is a wonderful point & click Hidden Object game that has an amazing amount of puzzles, of different varieties, It is called by some a Match 3 but while there is some validity to that, on some levels you'll match 2, and on others 4. You'll match objects cut into 4 pieces and further have to match them by shape: round, hexagon, square. On some levels you'll need to match smiley faces cut into 4 pieces. On other levels you'll need to match 4 abstract tiles, or photos of people, or cats & dogs. Until the puzzle opens you just never know what you'll be doing. It is so much fun and not as easy as you might think. There are square jigsaws. Oh boring, right? Not at all. You again have to match by shape as well as the outline color of the puzzle piece. Mahjong anyone? Not until you've played Joe's version. The tutorial contains 100 levels. Once you've learned how to play all the different types of Clutter puzzles then you've got 1700 more levels to play. Usually by the time you've completed the game, taken a couple of deep breaths, Joe has a new game ready for you. You can choose to play your favorite (mine is the slider type jigsaw) or you can choose to play random. The pictures are very high quality, the instructions are easy enough for a 6 year old and the variety means you won't ever get bored. No need to worry if you prefer to play Zen modes as I do, yes that is available. You can set it and lots of other options in all of Joe's games. Because of this game's unique type of puzzles there are options not available in other games. You don't need to wait until this goes on sale to get value for your buck. It is one of my favorite games I own on Steam or any platform largely due to immense variety contained in it. Joe, the creator of these puzzles comments throughout about 'comments from fans.' I've never tried to contact Joe but if I did contact him I'd like to say to him: BIRDS. You have one beautiful bird in this puzzle and I was so pleased. I wish you'd add more, outdoor & fancy birds as well as parrots both wild and domestic. To me they are all beautiful. Note: There are a large variety of music tracks that Joe picked for this game. I don't listen to OST in games, instead I listen to audio books. I have read reviews on other platforms that rave about the music but I can't comment.
A variety of weird minigames that seem like something you would use to strengthen your cognition - finding objects, shapes and colors amongst piles of... well... clutter. Comforting Casual Cleaning. https://youtu.be/TY2Ihz_4CLk
This game is amazing. I have played almost all of the clutter games and this one is just as amazing as the rest!
Fantastic game! I love the sheer variety of puzzles; there's something for everyone to enjoy!
