Sadly the game crashes mid battle 9 times out of 10. It might not cost much but money is best saved and spent elsewhere.
I bought this game to remind myself "good old times". First few minutes were stunning - the same climate, the same tactics. Unfortunatelly after first few battles in campaign game crasched. I restarted it, and after next few minutes it crashed again. And then again and again. It`s impossible to end campaign without big frustration....
I was a huge fan of the original game so once I saw that it had been rereleased, and how cheap it was, I jumped at the chance to buy it. Good thing it was very cheap as otherwise I'd feel incredibly cheated. Simply put: it's impossible to play. Default resolution makes it incredibly user unfriendly and even though there is an option to adjust the resolution this doesn't help. I didn't even get to play a game as the graphics were so largely scaled on my screen. At least A Bridge Too Far, while also suffering from resolution and scaling issues, provided some degree of playability. This is a total write-off.
Very buggy, crashes a lot.
Not sure how the re-wrappers managed this, but crashed part-way through every battle I played. Not had such poor performance on a game before and hope not to ever again.
It might have been good 25 years ago, but it is not good now.
Doesn't work.
good as always, crash issues seems to be fixed now. running windows 11 just fine
As good as i remembered unfortunately most games crash due to an internal error . not got anywhere near completing a campaign no more than 2 games in .
Reviewing games I played a long time ago: What a gem! I sunk hundreds of hours as a teen, its one of my all time favourite strategy games. And it plays really well on the Deck (and any Linux of course), but be sure to: Go to your install folder, and open the CC4.ini file. Change this: PlayVideos=1 to PlayVideos=0 Use launch option in game properties: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="ddraw.dll=n,b" %command%
