Clair Obscur is a great game that blends a lot of good gameplay ideas with an impressive art design and writing. I am a fan of turn-based RPG that grew up playing JPGS from the SNES and PS1 era and Clair Obscur gameplay is among the best turn-based I have played. It grabs a lot of ideas from past games (even niche JRPGs games, whether intentionally or not) and evolve them into a varied and engaging battle system that allows for experimentation, at least for most of the game. The difficulty is on point, challenging, but becomes easier as you master the parry system. The characters and story are very well written and the twists are surprising; however, do not look too close to the plot and you will find a lot of holes. But overall, it is a great story that it is well worth exploring. Art and music are marvellous. My complaint is the design choice surrounding Act 3, which is very weird and kinda disappointing. After the revelation in Act 2, the game opens in Act 3; however, the game expects you to rush to the end, as there are a lot of huge difficulty spikes that require way high levels than you have by the end of Act 2. If you drift too much from the expected, you will be way overleveled to the final boss. This would be fine if the side content was not very important to the story. It is not only important, but crucial for the decision you will make and for the understanding of the plot. I have no clue why this was put as optional content....maybe the developers did not want the game to last too long or they ran out of ideas to link these subplots. But the main problem is that to uncover these important plot pieces, you will have too grind a lot to beat the superbosses, that can kill you in one hit and are damage sponges, with way too high HPs. Not only that, but the game loses the variety that made the combat so engaging, because to beat these bosses, you will have to resort to specific OP builds. For this reason, the game that was so dynamic and had a great pace until Act 3, became a chore to play. Although I enjoyed a lot the game, I could not bring myself to finish all subplots Aside from the misstep in Act 3, he game is still great, one of the best I played in recent times, and I recommend to any RPG fan.
OYNADIĞIM OYNAYACAĞIM EN İYİ OYUN
This is truly one of the best stories I've ever experienced in a game. Prepare to cry!
Will update this review as I play but~ Got me HOOKED already. Prologue was very emotional and I'm very impressed with the storytelling, graphics, and the characters I've met in a short period of time. It's been a while since a game made me feel like this and honestly gives me more hope for the future of gaming since I've taken a hiatus from the scene since 2018.
never even finished
