As for this game, there was a lot of hate towards it. For example, people were saying things like "GOTY 2025 was sold to exp33," "they deliberately gave a bunch of awards to exp33," and "why not Death Stranding 2?" There was so much hate about exp33 being the Game of the Year. I believe the main reasons for this are that a small studio released such a massive game, and because the game mechanics were fresh and new, a lot of people just couldn't accept it. Most of this hate comes from people who haven't even played the game (larping). Before I played it, I thought it was going to be boring. But playing it changed my mind. The plot, world, music, and everything else in it are incredibly well done. Me when I meet its haters: https://i.redd.it/v8s2glrb8t7g1.jpeg Let them take it as ragebait
This is my first ever review, which I felt compelled to write because of how dull this game is. The first couple of hours were promising but then everything went downhill. I don't understand who this game is aimed at. It has swearing in it, which meant I assume it was aimed at older children or young adults but I don't understand how the gameplay can appeal to anyone over the age of about 10. Maybe I'm missing something but the whole game seems to revolve around getting lost in brightly coloured landscapes while having to fight endless battles using a very boring and repetitive fighting system, often against the most preposterous-looking enemies (some of which I would expect to be in games aimed at toddlers, for example the "mimes"). I really don't get how this game can be so popular but wish I hadn't bought it, even on sale. It's probably my fault for not checking it our more before buying it but I certainly won't be trusting games with so many positive reviews again.
Altough I admit that the game is very unique in its story, the visuals are beautiful and the music is very immersive, the game itself is just not very interesting. There is a whole lot of running around in empty areas looking for the same 4-5 kinds of loot, punctuated by a few monster encounters that become very dull after a few encounters. Additionally, when it comes to the combat, it becomes very punishing very fast if your timing for dodges and parries is not 100% on point. All in all I was quite disappointed, and certainly not a game I would even consider for game of the year.
