Civil War: 1861

As the title states, deals with the opening year of the American Civil War. Gameplay is as most HexWars games. Decent array of scenarios. If you are comfortable with HexWars style, recommended.

Keeps Crashing ! Just when you start to get into it , it crashes ... Ryzen 9 5900X /RTX4080 Super. I guess its because of the Nov. 1st update !

Very crusty 1v1 strategy game with no multiplayer. It’s shovelware. It feels like something that came out in 2007 rather than 2017. If it’s hexagonal, does that mean it’s based off of the board game from the 1980s? I genuinely have no idea. I can’t think of much to say about it. It’s mechanically functional; if you look at the screenshots, what you see is what you get. I can think of ways this could have been broken or torturous, but something’s wrong when I have no motivation to finish twelve ten-minute scenarios. This isn’t a war game, this is one-fifth of a war game. Who’d shell out $50 to have all five years? Even getting them half-off would be a swindle. I bought these and nine other tactical computer board games in a bundle that cost a single dollar, and I can see why the developer needed to go to such desperate lengths to juice the install base. I think the element in this game most indicative of its quality is the infobox used to preview combat actions. The Times New Roman font looks garish sized up, and the infobox repeatedly cuts out of the screen, requiring you to drag the screen to see the whole readout. I think I’m making this game sound a lot worse than it is, but that’s the consequence of throwing something together that’s so lacking in distinction, variety, and impact.
