About
"There... Can you hear it? Something is off in the way this city ticks. Let's find out what."
The city of Riveton has only one hope for freedom - you.
Play as Val, a brilliant mechanic from the slums who won’t stand for the injustices she witnesses daily. While the Queen’s chosen elite flaunt their wealth, ordinary people work night and day to keep the springwork foundries running - all while the ministries breathe down their necks. Every aspect of life in Riveton is regulated, and your rations will be cut if you so much as think about protesting.
Despite this, there is beauty in this last city on earth. People try to make the most of life even while facing resource shortages and the oppression of the Queen’s regime. Val is determined to help them.

Reviews
Weiter so!
Sinceramente, NO.

There's an expression I like to use for games like City of Springs, which is 'this is going to be someone's first and favorite game'. If you've been into games for a while, and especially if you were around in the 90's / 00's era, you have one of these: A game that maybe isn't too well known, maybe isn't *strictly* incredibly good, but something about it just scratched or scratches a particular itch and it's embedded itself on you. For me, that's stuff like Netstorm and Chaos Overlords. For this generation of new gamers, it might well be City of Springs. If you *have* been around for a while, City of Springs is mostly a decent idea wrapped in somewhat disappointing execution. Nothing about it is strictly bad or wrong, it just suffers from odd game design principles and a need for polish. Like what do you *mean* there's fall damage, and it's persistent, and I can only heal by hoofing it to healing stations around town that are otherwise totally free to use? What do you *mean* I can murder most robots effortlessly, unless it's a Mandatory Stealth Section, in which case the same robots I've been fighting directly can now instakill me -- sorry, I mean 'stun' me -- and I have to start over? It's just a lot of that. Giving this a positive recommendation because there's nothing 'wrong' with it at the end of the day, and supporting small artists in the face of Steam's algorithm nonsense is always the right thing to do. But, like, maybe check out a video or LP before you commit to this one.
Played it for a couple of hours, game play is smooth and the story compelling, would recommend.
Nettes Spiel für zwischendurch. Die Grafik ist echt liebevoll.
If you're looking for laid back story driven experience with a touch of steampunk, this is it. I was a little lost at first but once it gets going the mix of story and gameplay mixes together quite well. Combat is a mix between stealth and drone auto battler combat where you summon different drones to do your bidding. Similar to a Pokémon battle where you try to figure out the strengths and weaknesses of each type. The overall dystopian theme of the game is strangely juxtaposed with its serene music, which gives it an almost melancholic feeling of Riveton not being as bad of a place that it is. Unexpected but it also makes travelling around the hub more enjoyable than I thought it would be. Sadly had to take a break, the FoV is a little narrow and without having a way to adjust it in the options can make you quite motion sick. Hopefully something that will be added in the future.
Although I haven't come very far in the game yet, I am really excited about how it develops, because what I've seen so far is really fun and promising! It's immediately obvious that the developers have a real passion for the game The mechanics are really cool, the dialogues are very good and the world where the game is set is really creative and well thought out. I also love the design, it's really quirky but not so much that it becomes silly. I can't wait to continue playing the game and I also can't wait what the full version has in store in the future!!
I love the vibe of this game. The world building is just outstanding and the story is tense. Can't wait to dive back in to explore some more of the City of Springs and uncover its secrets!
