About
City 20 was a closed city, a place that didn't exist on any map. Behind its walls, scientists pushed the boundaries of nuclear physics and quantum mechanics. Then, something went wrong.
Sealed within their own nightmare and in a world now devoid of rules, the survivors gave rise to a new, brutal ecosystem divided into factions.
You find yourself in this ruthless reality alone and empty-handed. How far will you go to survive?
Obtain food by farming, hunting, or interacting with NPCs.
Scavenge for materials and salvageable components. Disassemble objects to recover parts to craft equipment.
Purchase properties and furnish them with appliances and workbenches to produce advanced items.
Restore the electrical grid to bring power back to abandoned buildings and unlock new areas. Endure lethal nuclear radiation as you try to carve out your place in the city.
All NPCs follow dynamic routines. They work, eat, rest, and react to a changing world.
Every interaction you have with them carries weight, influencing your relationships and unlocking new possibilities.
Learn about the factions, their organization, and their identity. Each pursues long-term goals that you can alter with your decisions.
Earn their trust to unlock restricted areas, crafting stations, and supplies, or defy them and face the consequences.
No path is already written. Your actions shape the future of those around you, deciding who thrives and who falls.
Not everything in City 20 can be explained by science. Strange creatures roam the city's ruined buildings - a phenomenon never seen before - and no one knows where they came from.
You can fight them, but understanding what they are and why they appeared might be the real challenge.

I see the vision. I respect the vision. At the time of this review, I recommend a wishlist over a purchase. I love the freedom, I love that there is no handholding, I love having to interact with the game world to figure everything out. Combat is bad, not in a 'your character is bad at combat' way, it's a 'combat in this game is bad' way. I understand that it isn't the main point of the game but it needs to at least be serviceable. Enemies spawning next to me while I sleep in a lit area is pretty obnoxious too. Tool durability is honestly terrible. It makes breath of the wild seem generous. I figured at first it was only scrap weapons and tools, but even the best tools and weapons break with only a few uses. To it's credit, items like hatchets and hammers just need a new handle, but that still requires a trip back to a bench. I can not stress enough how detrimental this is to the overall enjoyment to the game. Quadruple it at least. Building system is...there. The grid layout is not great, and you will never be able to build how you want. I do enjoy that you have to buy houses and can't just plop down a megaplex day one with some spit and tape. Would really benefit from allowing placing how players want. Some way to scavenge lockers and tables whole would be pretty cool, maybe a dolly or pallet jack as a late game item. NPC quests need some tweaking. I've lost a lot of reputation with people because they sprint up to me asking for something I've never heard of before. I've lost even more reputation because they will run up and beg for food but refuse to pay despite having money in their inventory. I've lost the most rep because people keep demanding protection money then starting a fight when I refuse to pay and I kill them with a hatchet. On the plus side, at least with them they have money and their houses are usually worth looting. Looking at a bulletin board automatically accepts all listed jobs and you lose rep if you don't or cant complete them. I recommend save scumming. Map is small and while it is dense, there are a lot of areas blocked off that are inaccessible. I don't think it's an EA thing, the areas are complete and just surrounded by rubble or containers and empty. You can see everything in about two in game days. The harder areas, like radiation zones, don't have anything worth the gear investment from what I've seen. Went underground a few times. Lots of ghosts and not much of anything else. Not worth the time so far. Anyone whose played pathologic will be familiar with the economy. Pick up bottles. Fill bottles in wells. Sell the water. Had about 1k in three days from just picking up junk and selling water. Not much worth spending it on, unless you want to be a real estate tycoon. Everything else you can find. I do appreciate that if I buy a crafting book, I can learn the recipe then sell it to make some of my money back. Books poofing out of existence upon being read is awful, thank you for not doing that. I know it all sounds negative, but there is a lot of potential. It's pretty obvious this is a passion project. This game has SOUL dammit, I hope it reaches it's potential and wish nothing but the best to the devs!
YES-NO
As of right now, I can't recommend this game to other players. First and foremost, I am getting fatal errors from time to time that crash the game and I lose a lot of time that I have invested. It happened last night, and I was like, "okay, I'll just save more often." Then, just now after spending a lot of time tediously cooking apples (and the way cooking and campfires are set up currently is extremely tedious), I tried to sleep in order to save my progress. Immediately upon lying down to sleep, fatal error and my game crashed. As much as I like the idea of this game, I'm currently feeling some regret in spending $18 dollars to buy it on sale. This game has a lot of potential, but currently it's been more disappointing and frustrating than enjoyable, unfortunately. I could also talk about the clunky combat system that has contributed to my dying a couple of times. Having to switch in and out of combat mode is a little nonsensical. The quest deadlines, for me, make the game less fun. That's just my personal feeling on the matter. There's also the frustration of retrieval quests that necessitate trashing your standing with one faction to please another. Maybe this is just the way this game is meant to be, but it would be nice to be able to politely decline such tasks, seeing as how you get jumped by NPCs with them. This game is really not what I was led to believe it was. I started playing it after watching a streamer play and I got the impression that it was a multiplayer situation where you could fulfil any number of roles within a post apocalyptic community, or sort of strike out on your own. I'm kind of dismayed to discover that it's more of a predetermined storyline. The biggest thing for me by far though is the instability. I don't think I can bring myself to attempt to play it anymore right now. My time is valuable enough to me that I don't want to risk wasting anymore of it until this game hopefully gets a HUGE overhaul. I needed to download and install two Microsoft C++ executables in order to even get it to run in the first place.
A soviet Kenshi small but seems to be building. Right now it is plagued by some bugs, for example my latest game was stopped by fatal crashes every time I try to load it, but I was have a good time until then.
The idea is there, the elements of a game are there, people comparing it to Kenshi have likely not played Kenshi. Survival is simple, there is unlimited water readily available and respawning food in the start area, certain "houses" you can buy. You can sell water and food for the money for it. The City itself felt small to me. most of it didn't actually do anything. Various people have various issues that you've seen in every other post apocalyptic game. The combat... This is where you see that its just an element of a game. There is combat, there isn't engaging, fun or adrenaline filled action. It's a clunky mess. There is no strategy to it. The reputation system seems to do nothing but penalise you for the slightest little thing like being attacked. The devs seem active in discussions and yet its the same answer "Something we hope to do in the future" Someone will say "This is a real issue" "Its for the future have a bunker" Things like having basic features that function properly aren't "for the future" I've seen too many early access titles at this point where devs have a great idea and then for whatever reason can't reach it and they all say "Its something we hope to do in the future, forget about what isn't right, here have some content" Maybe they will break the mold, only time will tell.
Very interesting game. Different, but ideal for those who like a survival challenge. Would recommend getting a home as early as possible and then make a stove as food is difficult early game.
Nice idea , Cool Graphics , Cool Story
Actually a great game. Best part is that you don't know what is going on.
It is fun buy it.
