Game has some potential but for the price its really not worth it at this time. I understand that the game is early access but it is severely lacking in almost every department that makes a survival craft game fun. Good: - Graphics are decent, unique look Needs Improvement: - Enemies: you can outrun every enemy in the game so unless you trap yourself in a corner there is no real threats - Enemies can all be circled and spammed with melee attacks until they are dead - There is no real variety of enemies, there are different skins and animals with different HP and hitboxes but they all do the same: run at you and slowly attack - The inventory is just odd: it opens up to a smallish portion of the screen and you have to scroll through it instead of having the whole inventory available to see at once - Lack of content (i know its early access) - There are like 3 melee weapons, 5? 7? guns and a bow, they all feel very similar and dont really change the gameplay, especially considering how long you have to grind in order to start crafting weapon repair kits. - Map is just cookie cutter towns that all feel pretty much the same besides one or two unique buildings - For a game called Junk survivor you really cant junk much around the world. you can break TVs chairs, tables, trees and rocks. - Movement is janky, there is a sprint but its like a 10% increase from the normal run. Jumping is useless you get like an inch off the ground and the map is made pretty much just to block you off from places, no jumping on terrain or walls allowed, just seems odd for an open world game to me - traders are just odd - they do sell some things but its not really worth it and doesnt add much to the game as of now - driving - camera is locked when you are driving which is annoying and zombies are brick walls to your car - storage/crafting - again like the inventory you have to scroll through the larger crates to see all your inventory, just make it so you can see it all - loot - theres not much of anything to find out and about, just a general lack of content in that aspect Im sure there are more things i forgot but this gives a sorta good idea of what you are in for when purchasing the game at this moment. Its not horrible, and maybe with a few more content updates it will be a game worth sinking some more hours into but for now this game is on the backburner for me
Great potential but I can not recommend at current state of game. Game is not balanced and not smooth with annoying bugs. There is Valheim and still another good game Enshrouded. If you lower the bar a little bit more there is Surroundead, a single developer game which is still fun and playable. And if you go much lower, there is Junk Survivor. I really spent my time on this game. I plan to visit it maybe 6 months later. It has potential but there are better games right now.
Played for 22 hours. Has good bones for a game. But needs a lot of work. Certain groups of zombies respawn every 60 seconds, like the ones around the meat piles. Sort function only works when you choose an option that is different from the present one. Wall lights on/off affect other torches ON/off states and fires too sometimes. No Footstep sounds or weather sounds for me. Truck camera is fixed so no good for backing up Truck starts randomly burning up your gas. Cant upgrade truck at 2 guys. Recipe for truck is only shown as some icons and not totally clear what some parts were. Had to look it up somewhere. Daily food requirement is crazy high. No low food or water warning. No inventory full warning, stuff just vanishes if you pick it up when your full. Only truck available to build at 2 guys, not the other 2 types. There is a delay in chopping or mining while holding down button. Clicking is a faster. Would be nice if delay was removed. Meat/food decay way to fast. Meat from zombie boars give you larger meat chunks but have the exact same stats as a pig steak. Menu on forge doesn't indicate any info on how much ore gives you scrap/ingot. Ore availability is low for the amount you need. Didn't see any indication of different biome. Needs more roof building pieces to build a proper roof on a base that is not rectangular. And finally no goal. Surviving alone isn't enough. Needs a purpose. Hopefully game can improve. It was kinda fun but too many bug and balance issues.
Even though I know the game is still in Early Access, I can't recommend it at this stage. There are some minor bugs, but the main issues go far deeper: First lets go into the realism aspects of the game... U ever died of thirst or hunger in less than 1 day? - Its a feature. U ever seen food spoinling and rotting in less a half day? - Its a feature. There is no indicator that u suffer from thirst or hunger, u just instantly die if u dont keep track of it. Multiplayer: LAN play isn’t work, only online co-op. You can't disable friendly fire and you can't see other players on the map. Gameplay: POI's feel very generic. There is not much variance or interesting goin on sadly. If you don't know where your base is, you’ll get lost easily since there's no marker for it on the map. Building a proper house is nearly impossible, because roofs can't be completed due to missing parts. There are no quests, just endless grinding, and if you die in a mob… good luck getting your gear back before it despawns! Frustration: The death system is especially frustrating: if you get killed by a group of monsters, you respawn with only 30 health. Healing Items have to be unlocked first. But even if u do and u carry meds with u, its likely, that u loose them. So keep some at your base or u will be trapped in a cycle of trying to recover your death-bag. Good luck with that! Get your stuff back, in a group of enemies who quickly respawn, is nearly impossible. Most times, your items will be gone before you can recover them. If you try to open your death bag and die while doing so, it disappears for good. After losing all the gear I spent hours farming, I rage-quit the game out of frustration. At the moment, this experience just isn’t enjoyable at all.
Game is a Hot Mess stay away!
An empty and unfinished game, bugs, and simply nothing to do there
i really like the game, I've played now for 50 hours. Just a few things that need attention: I'm still on day 2,,,days don't change. I'm at level 13 and can't seem to get my achievements (excluding Build) to go up, should have maxed all of them by now, it still say 0 zombie kills. I do believe that more clothes will be added since there are spots for them, maybe we could repair them would be nice. And what's with the mine door that won't open, what are you suppose to do with empty books (only nails?) After I built my truck the game didn't want to run. I think that once they fix the problems this will be a game that could keep growing and be a lot of fun.
This game has good potential. The pros out way the cons atm. I will give the cons since there are so many pros. I play strictly solo so please keep that in mind before you call me a whiner:) 1. Zombies respawn way to fast. Needs at least a couple game days before they respawn. I get 3 killed and start to go for the other 8 and the 3 I just killed respawn. 2. Way to many Zombies in each area. You hit one and all 15 come running for you. 3. Combat is pretty difficult. If you have more then one zombie hit you , you get stunned, can't hit, move or jump. Totally locked in place. Then you die and have to try and get all your stuff back from where you died in the middle of all the zombies. Loosing all my cloths and my hot bar stuff when I die I think is a little much to loose. 4. Items keep disappearing out of my inventory/chests. 5. Map resets, showing I haven't been in certain places when I know I was. 6. Please, please make my character jump higher. She can't even jump over a small rock. Early access I know. The game has a lot of potential. I decided to try this game again. The zombies still respawn way to fast. The respawn rate should be an hourly or daily spawn not every min or 2. I hope the Dev's address this issue. I will check back in a couple month's
not till this game gets fix lost everthing 4 times now on log in Since the last update i have log in and out several times have not lost anything but the bow only works on chicken and pigs not nothing else gets damage now
First keep in mind this is an EARLY ACCESS release, so everything is subject to change and these views reflect my opinion of it as it stands atm, with that in mind here is how I found the game. Really nice zombie survival game, in many ways visually it feels a lot like how Fortnite was before it went Battle Royale. You make your avatar, there are three body types normal guy, beefy guy and skinny girl. You choose you hair style, give yourself a name and that is it. Real bare bones as things stand, you cannot choose skin colour, changes or alter faces, you cannot even change hair colour none of that seems to be implemented outside of what was previously noted. There are no classes, profession, archetypes, no traits, perks, flaws or anything flavoursome like that its literally just a bare bones avatar right now and thats all. Once done you enter the game. The premise is you wake up outside of a vault of some sort in nothing but your undies to a zombie apocalypse and have to survive. A questing system is planned down the line, but nothing yet, nor have i found any lore in game to explain the how and the why of the zombie apocalypse, but as it stands you go through a few missions that make up the tutorial and then you are pretty much left to your own devices to decide what you want to do in true sandbox style. The map itself if i'm honest is pretty small, more is planned but right now its fairly easy to find the edges. Dotted across the map are buildings and towns inside which are things to loot and break down all for materials to either equip, use or utilise via crafting to make other things. You can also find plans for things to craft which you can use to learn. CRAFTING This is nice, and fairly simplistic and straightforward you have things you can make yourself from your inventory, then additional things you can create via various types of workbench, the tutorial will run you though making the basic tools etc.. There is also research (done via a research table that can teach you even more advanced things to make). You gather the resources or place them in the relevant workbench, select the item you want to make and how many hit craft and off you go.. Also when it comes to weapons, clothing, tools etc.. they all have durability, once used up you dump them and make more. I haven't found any means to repair anything yet? Oh and there seem to be vehicles, I haven't found any that are anything but lootable thus far, but i have found many vehicle parts and upgrades so that is something else to look forward too. SURVIVAL Survival elements are health, energy, hunger and thirst. Hunger requires you to either hunt or later on grow your own food or scavenge homes for left over foods and canned goods, thirst requires you to gather water or find a water source to drink from or again scavenge homes and businesses for water bottles. Hunger goes down pretty quickly and you will typically need to eat half a dozen food to fill your bar once more of the early food, better foods seem to fill it more, or more quickly but you won't be seeing those for quite some time. Thirst doesn't seem to go down as fast as hunger and you also seem to get way more bang for your buck when drinking in terms of refilling it. You can even walk into a water source like a pond or lake and fill it instantly. Energy is a little odd as there is a sleep mechanic in the game for the purposes or moving the day from night to day etc.. but it doesn't seem to have anything to do with rest. Your energy will go down as you do things but so long as you eat and drink it stays mostly filled. Health is pretty self explanatory, its the amount of damage you can take before you die. COMBAT Combat is simple, your left mouse hits, your right mouse blocks. Typically a zombie will come straight at you and if you pause long enough it will take a swing. Basic zombies aren't really a threat, they move straight at you and can easily be kited around in a circle hitting them continuously, or move away from them, stop hit, move, stop, hit etc.. they do have a range from which they will stop following, or attacking, at which point they just turn around and walk off..which is a little strange. There are other kinds of zombies and bosses, but mostly its just more health and more damage.. no frills. Zombies do drop loot including coins, which you use to buy things from the traders, which is nice although most only seem to have coins and rocks on them, which again is a little odd. There are melee weapons and ranged weapons, initially your only melee option will be a club and your initial ranged weapon will be a bow. I found the bow far less effective than the club doing about a third of the damage of the club at default. There are guns, you can find them, bullets you can find or make yourself. Another odd thing is that mob placement, where you see a zombie, boss, bear, pig, sheep, chicken is ALWAYS where that thing will be. Mobs that roam will always take the same route. This is both a good and bad thing. For example if you need food and leather and have pigs near your base they will ALWAYS respawn by your base, Another odd thing is the respawn rate, again we have no control over this at game start up, which would be nice but by default things respawn REALLY quickly. IF you clear a house of zombies and loot, by the time you move to the next house the zombies (not the loot) will have already respawned it needs toning down, fine with animals, which are needed more frequenlty but for purposes of clearing anything long enough to effectively loot buildings in an area its just way too quick. BUILDING The building system is straightforward but enjoyable, you make a "Building plans" item (this games version of a construction hammer) that when equipped opens up the building parts you can make. have the materials in your inventory, pick the part, rotate, raise or lower it and click to place. There is a snapping system so parts will if moved near enough to an edge snap to the previous parts, which is nice. One thing the game doesn't do right now is draw from your chests for building, which is a real shame. As noted you literally have to have the materials in your inventory. If you make a mistake while building there is a hammer you can make which you target a piece allows you to rotate, destroy or upgrade it. Making it simple to undo mistakes, or turn your wood parts into stone etc.. if you have the materials available from a simple tap of your hammer. also of note lighting uses fuel, it would be nice to be able to turn that off for solo play as its a pita World resources respawn VERY quickly, it would be nice to have some control over this at game set up. But as it stands by the time you have cleared a dozen or so trees and rocks etc.. the first ones will have already started to reappear. With trees you cut them to a stump if you remove the stump the tree doesn't respawn. Not for rocks and some ground plants that will clip through your flooring and NOT disappear when you build over them, which is a little frustrating. PROGRESSION There is progression the game, you have stats, which affect various aspects of your character,, there are skills which either improve something or open up new crafting options and all of it is tied to levels. You get XP for killing things, gathering things etc.. when you XP bar fills you get a level. Each level gives you 1 allocate-able attribute point and 1 skill point. There are not a lot of skills but there are 2 or 3 levels to all skills and gaining a second or third level in a skill typically have a level requirement. SUMMARY The game is fun and quirky, but also feels fairly rough around the edges that an early access title still in development would feel. But the game nevertheless shows promise and if it keeps getting updates will hopefully round out into a nice standout game in the genre that doesn't overburden its players with too much minutia.
