Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4.56/day in the week to Aug 4 → 5.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Reviews
Spannendes und komplexes RPG. Die Zeitreisen lassen dich das Spiel auf unzählige und individuelle Weisen beenden. Dazu läuft die PC-Version einwandfrei und ist gut angepasst.
With Mods, it can replicate the SNES/DS Experience. Only recommend if you mod the game to not look like a smeared HD Project from the early 2010's which doesn't do the original art style justice.

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 17: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

The game is amazing but this port is always crashing. I tried it out on two different devices and I ran into issues on both. Still, a classic worth playing even with the minor issues.
This game CRASHES over and over and over. At first it was once or twice an hour. But then I beat the first chapter and it crashes every time I try to leave a room in the castle after the trial. Of course it was only after 6 hours that this game became LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE. So Steam's "no refund after 2 hours" was just perfect. The only good thing about this game was that I got it on 50% sale. After seeing all the reviews and discussions talking about crashes going back years, it's apparent that SE doesn't give a damn about this port. I could have just played this on an emulator. I thought I would reward them with my money and now I completely regret doing that.
当年, 我玩<CHRONO TRIGGER>的时候, 我前女友还在桌子下面嗦我牛子。 如今, 再玩这游戏, 我前女友都离婚带娃了。 哎, 游戏误我啊。
Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest jRPGs ever made, so I was happy to finally see it arrive on Steam. Unfortunately, its launch was disappointing because the PC version was based on the mobile port. Thankfully, Square Enix listened to the criticism. Several major updates improved the UI, graphics options, controls, fonts, and overall presentation, making the game much closer to what fans expected. It's still not the definitive version of Chrono Trigger, but it's a much better port than it was at release. The game itself remains timeless. The memorable cast, fantastic soundtrack, multiple endings, and surprisingly engaging time-travel story are just as enjoyable today as they were decades ago. It deserves its legendary reputation. Unlike many of Square Enix's classic releases, Chrono Trigger has remained reasonably affordable, making it an easy recommendation for anyone who has never experienced this masterpiece. Pros: + One of the greatest jRPGs ever made + Fantastic soundtrack and memorable characters + Multiple endings + Major post launch updates significantly improved the PC version Cons: - Originally launched as a disappointing mobile based port - Some remnants of the mobile version are still noticeable - Not quite the definitive way to experience the game (like DS)
Words cannot describe how much I adore and love this game. After 30 years of gaming, this remains my most cherished RPG experience.. and I've played alot of RPGs. I just finished another playthru after 15 yrs and it was magical: I laughed, I wept, I pondered, and I felt like I was 14 again running around with my friends having a grand old adventure, while meeting my crush for the first time. There is something truly magical with this game, in ways simply listing it's strengths cannot summarize. But let me try anyways: - The pixel art is gorgeous. One of the best of that (and any) era. - The music is... god-tier! I've been listening to it for 25 yrs and still not tired of it. Yasunori Mitsuda poured his soul into it; and alongside Chrono Cross has one of the best soundtrack of any game. - Turn-based combat that's actually fun! No random encounters. A host of interesting skills and duo- and triple techs. And every boss has it's own attack pattern and weaknesses like a puzzle - A golden balance between exploration, combat, dungeon-crawling and story beats. No single part overstays it's welcome, and the game knows when to cycle between each element which such playful fluidity and freshness. - But the reason we play Chrono Trigger is because of the Story and Characters. It is simultaneously one of the grandest stories that takes some surprising turns (for a first playthru)... and one of the simplest and most intimate tales of friendship, redemption, loss, identity, and hope. If you are a fan of story heavy games, and you haven't played this, you owe it to yourself to do so. As for this Steam version in particular, it's fine but I still prefer the SNES version. The font and text on the SNES matches the vibe of the game. And I combined several rom hacks (i.e. translation mix of Ted Woosely's with the modern retranslation; and a difficulty hack) to make the playthru more enjoyable. There are a small handful of mods on steam, but nothing like the overhaul romhacks for emulator. Ultimately, Chrono Trigger is as close to a perfect game as you can get, and should be enshrined in immortality on the Mt.Rushmore of gaming. It's a masterpiece I keep replaying every 5 - 7 yrs, and every time I am reminded why I love it so much. So let's sail onwards now, to far away times!
Essential media. Was personally blown away with how good the combat feels and generally how snappy the game is. If you're an Akira Toriyama fan you will love it on principle. Timeless and worthy of a spot in the museum if such one ever existed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10/10
Great game, terrible port. Just emulate it.
