Choice of Magics

An intriguing post-apocalyptic fantasy setting that comes with its own inspired magic system. The dynamic between progress and tradition offers an interesting take that leans on a somehow biased, but nonetheless adequate conclusion. Characters, albeit quirky, are a bit schematic, predictable and naive, which is probably the greatest weakness of this work. The viable choices and options, on the other hand, are quite fun and varied.

Mouais, alors je "recommande" juste parce que je ne peux pas mettre de "pouce neutre". L'histoire et l'écriture sont vraiment sympa, l'anglais est compréhensible même si j'ai eu quelques fois besoin d'un traducteur. J'ai juste les glandes parce que vers la fin, le scénario fait ce qu'il veut, peu importe vos stats... J'ai étudié une magie à fond et au final, je me suis retrouvé à subir les conséquences d'une autre que je n'avais jamais utilisée... Bref, je suis déçu de ne jamais avoir une fin cohérente avec mes choix, mais pourtant, la lecture en valait tout de même la peine tant l'univers est bien fait.

THE choice of games-game. Seriously, there is no other game to this label with this high amout of impactful choices. Exept for a few cosmetic ones and necessary for the story, no choice here is superflous and has imidiatly impact and consequences. There are a lot of different paths to take, with different outcomes depending on the choices in the path. A few events alwyas happen, but how they turn out can be hugley different dependig on choices. The game is rather short, with one playthrough rarley longer than an hour, but because of the many choices, the replayvalue is imense. I play twenty times before it started to get repetiv. The story itself has decent gray and gray morality, with no faction beeing completly evil and every person having realistic and complex motivations. Even they can change depending on the playthrough. Recommend it immensly, price absolutly justified.

An oldie, but a goodie. A mainstay of the franchise and pretty endlessly replayable. Kevin Gold's pretty great at what he does, and Choice of Magics is definitely no exception.

It's all right, but it didn't grab me in the same way that the Infinite Sea saga or Choice of Robots did. The magic and world in this is so broad/generic that it lacks identity.

Fun little choose your own adventure about mastering magic. Its a bit wacky, but that's part of the fun.
