Great little gem of a game. I'm not quite finished but I think I'm almost there at 25 hours played. Reminds me of snes era rpgs, with combat similar to FF6 but enhanced with a limit break type resource that accumulates as you either take or deal damage. Full of little secrets, side quests and mini games. Fairly open with how you "build" each character with a stat enhancing system for leveling up. Some characters are clearly suited to certain roles but you can always hybrid them, like making a tanky sword wielding healer. Final thought: This game is suprisingly well made, it feels 'complete' if that makes sense. Lots of effort went into this game, worth the low price.
I don't usually write a review, most of the times due to my somewhat bad English. But will try on this one nevertheless. It's one of the classic-style RPGs that bear resemblances to old games on SNES, PSX, etc etc platform. The gameplay itself is quite nostalgic, followed by an intriguing storyline. Long story short, here's the good(s) and bad(s): The good things consist of: -Classic RPG, simple gameplay -Chaos orbs system, which is kinda new to me, similar to equipments; complex yet neat ways to build the characters in your party -No fixation on the composition of your party -Great and unique storyline -Challenging(?) Now onto the bad things: -On rare occasions, crash at random encounters -Despite the great storyline, few of the characters' stories lack in-depth details -Challenging(?)
This is an interesting precedent. This is the second review out of over 100 that I've ever swapped my decision on. This is currently my (at least) 3rd playthrough since my first is the one that crashed, and the second I seem to have locked myself out of an area for 100% completion. This game is VERY hard. A lot harder than most RPGmaker titles, and I appreciate that. However to make things easier for the common folk out there I found a method that makes a lot of the later game enemies and bosses MUCH easier. Which I'll be sharing. I call it the Inversion Tull method. This method you cannot fully implement until your around lv 11-13 (lvls are based on story progress not grinding in this game) but you can even at the start begin to make this build viable. 1) Whenever you gain new CP early game for Tull upgraded the following stats: health, evasion, crit, and speed (dexterity). All other stats on him for this are totally irrelevant. 2) You will eventually get manawell and fortitude chaos spheres, equip all of them onto Tull. 3) Around 1/3 to 1/2 the game (lv 9/10 depending on how you went) your party is split up, and when they regroup Tull has two new abilities; analyze and Program 12. Program 12 is what we're focusing on. 4) Program 12 is based on Tull's max MP, not current but MAX. Now then you should receive the quest from the prince of Rekshava to retrieve the relic from Grisilweir's tomb. 5) once you pass through the forest there is a village nearby with an optional dungeon in it to go into Evandra's nightmares DO NOT SKIP THIS. 6) Inside Evandra's nightmares there is a chaos sphere this will swap the HP and MP pool of the user. Note how we've upgraded Tull's health so far? This should give him a HUGE health pool. 7) Also in the nightmare nearly every enemy has a chance to drop a 'broken soul shield' this will auto regen 6 TP for Tull a round. There should have also been an accessory at this point to also regen another 4 TP a round for Tull (can't remember where it is) 8) Once done in the nightmare, go into the tomb make sure to enter the far room on the first area to reach a save crystal, and the giant's glove for Tull this will boost his Hp (now MP) pool by an additional 1k points if not more. 9) once done with Grizilweir and return to Rekshava and get entry into the desert, head into the desert temple and examine EVERY pot, one pot after getting to the boulder & statue puzzle has the expert medallion in it which will regen 8 tp a turn. This along with the shield will generate 14 tp a round meaning Tull can cast Program 12 EVERY ROUND. After that just equip hp boosting gear to increase his MP and you will have an uber powerful member for your team. He will need revived a lot though.
This is pre-reviewed. i will edit after beat this game. well, with intro i think this game will be good, i hope will be better when early game and mid game. BGM is nice but on random battle i didnt hear any sound like stab enemies or skill, This game, gameplay Ability Point System really good. i think i willl spend more time to beat this game. and last graphic very nice still some lack at some point but i think this good enoug, with effect getting item this game more enjoyable. well i will finish this game maybe in 3 days or a week. i hope so.
This game is really nice with good background story, maybe a little bit expensive but if you like this kind of games it is worth it
I'm no RPG expert, but this title certainly evokes the nostalgia it promises. With a respectable helping of modern flair mixed in, you can color me entertained! Chaos Drift boasts a charming aesthetic, plenty of polish, and a compelling story to tie it all together. This is one top-down RPG I surely expect to play to the end. As for the price: it's too early to tell if Chaos Drift is worth $7.99, but as an RPGMaker game weighing in at almost 700MB, I have a hunch that there is ample content packed inside for RPG lovers to enjoy.
I'm only just getting started but so far this is a well-done RPG in the style of the SNES RPGs of my youth. The story is starting out strong and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. Good stuff: Cute pixel art Interesting story so far Bad stuff: No battle music for random encounters so far
