You get what you pay for. Just what it looks like. Basic, boring, and repetitive. After 88 mins I didn't die once and had beaten the game long before. I died on purpose to get the last of 3 Steam achievements. Then I deleted the game. Don't waste your time. The dino game when the internet is down is far better than this. Also, it has an F bomb in it, which was very odd. This could have at least been a game for little kids to play, but they managed to screw up the one thing they had going for it.
The f**k is this?
one deadly game
The seven deadly seas is a very basic game where you play as a pirate ship, gun down enemy ships, and gather fish and wood. You sell off fish and wood to buy better parts for your ship...guns, sail, etc. Unfortunately, this game seems to be vastly incomplete and we're only left with what appears to be a tutorial of a game...a demo. The voice acting is decent, the graphics are minimalistic, the gameplay...is slow and uninteresting. Would I recommend The seven deadly seas? Only if you're either looking for quick achievements or a free game to play for 30 minutes. Aside from that, you'll probably end up uninstalling this game and not looking back. I wouldn't blame you for sharing the same thought. It's not great, but it's not memorable. 2/10 I'm not sure just how big this game was supposed to get, but right now it only feels like 1% of what the developer may have imagined.
Game does not start - after I press start game, it just freezes and I have to force-shut my computer to get rid of the screen. What a great start.
Very basic gameplay but already a hooking concept. Especially I liked how you can outsmart the enemy cannon balls with an extra sail. For improvement I would go deeper into economics, treasure, story, tutorial ... For example harvest the wood from the islands. instead of buying it from the merchant. Crafting fishing rods / sails / boat repairs out of material. Dig for treasure boxes on islands 1 fish = 1 gold is simply to easy and what about sea monsters / bosses?
The Seven Deadly Seas is an abandoned Early Access 2D retro pixel ripoff of Sid Meier's Pirates! only significantly worse in all respects. Gameplay consists of looking at the deplorably bad graphics while 2D top down shooting in a pirate ship. It's a much shallower experience than the Pirates! game this is unabashedly and badly ripping off. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked, and can't be changed or customised to improve the visuals or the control experience. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. The developer abandoned this in an unfinished state roughly one year after launch, kept peoples money without returning any of it, and moved on to making another game, Asterook. Taking peeople's money and failing to meet the commitment to deliver the promised product is tantamount to running a scam, and this abandoned cash grab should be seen as such. Usually scammers have the decency to run for the hills after they take people's money. They don't stick around and line up another scam while people are watching. Because this is incomplete and abandoned, and because they quality is so extremely low, I can't recommend this.
